"Adler thought everything through—hiding me, my identity, everything else. Even this house…"
His voice softened, threaded with something fond and aching. Zephyr's fingers brushed along the wall as they walked, the pads of his fingertips lingering as if he could still feel old memories beneath the surface.
"This place...used to be the bedroom," he added quietly. "The house was originally much smaller than this… I fixed it here and there over the years." He paused, hand resting against the wall, gaze unfocused, somewhere far in the past.
A faint, crooked smile touched his lips.
"Really… he was a foolish genius."
Sylene was surprised to know that this house was actually provided by Adler before he passed; he seemed like an amazing guy…
A faint smile tugged at Zephyr's lips as he looked at Sylene like a comrade.
"It's kind of funny, actually. We didn't even have names. Just codes and numbers."
Sylene laughed quietly at the irony.
