Chapter 300 - 300. The Water Stone

◉◉◉◉◉

Although the Cosmic DNA of Deoxys (Speed Forme) was categorized in the system shop as "equipment," the same type as Zamazenta's Heart or Terrakion's Shatter-Shoulder Plate, it was not something that granted an external enhancement.

Instead, it functioned more like the energy essence Kael had once been injected with during his Machop days in the underground laboratory of the Wraith Society.

In fact, long before Kael had even hatched, while he was still inside the Pokémon Egg gathering energy, the system had already fused Deoxys's DNA perfectly into his body.

There were no side effects whatsoever.

As for the results…

Kael jumped lightly on the spot.

He barely felt like he exerted any effort before the explosive strength of his Pokémon body sent him bouncing high enough to tap the cave ceiling.

Of course, the main reason he could do that was the naturally powerful physique of Pokémon.

The +40 agility granted by the Cosmic DNA was a percentage-based bonus. Because Kael was still a newborn and his base strength was extremely low, the effect was not particularly obvious yet.

Only as his strength continued to grow over time would this piece of equipment, whose value rivaled even the incomplete Zamazenta's Heart, begin to reveal its terrifying potential.

But that was a matter for the future.

Everything would come step by step.

Kael rubbed his head gently. The sudden surge in his individual values had left him slightly dizzy.

He took several deep breaths.

About thirty minutes had passed since he hatched.

During that time, Kael had identified the species of the Pokémon he had reincarnated into and sorted through every item in his system inventory. Anything that could be used had already been used.

In other words, he had completed all his preparations before officially stepping into this new world.

Only now did he finally shift his attention away from the system interface and inventory, taking a proper look at the place he was in.

It was a dark cave with no other living creatures besides himself.

Though it felt somewhat cold and gloomy, for a newly hatched Pokémon it was actually a very safe environment.

His blue eyes seemed to function almost like night vision. Even with only faint, mysterious light sources scattered throughout the cave, he could clearly make out the entire layout.

As he looked around, the strange altar radiating an ancient and sacred aura quickly caught his attention.

"Hm?"

Kael froze for a moment, surprise appearing in his eyes.

The feeling was faint, but he could definitely sense a strange aura coming from the altar. It felt somewhat similar to himself, yet fundamentally different.

If he compared himself to a lively mountain stream flowing down a hillside, the aura surrounding the altar felt like a deep, silent lake hidden beneath dense forest and mist.

Cold. Calm. Mysterious.

Suddenly, Kael remembered the evaluation written in his system panel.

"The Spirit of the North Wind…"

"So… Suicune."

He shook his head helplessly and let out a small, bitter smile.

For some reason, perhaps because his soul originated from another world, every time he reincarnated he seemed to attract the attention of certain Legendary Pokémon.

At this point, he was almost used to it.

If they were watching, then they were watching. It wasn't like he would lose a piece of himself because of it.

Besides, the gap between him and a legendary being like Suicune was still unimaginably vast.

There was no point in thinking about it now.

With that thought, Kael dismissed the matter and wandered around the altar. Apart from the unusual aura, he found nothing else remarkable.

Just as he was about to search for the cave's exit, something bright flashed in the corner of his vision.

"What's that…?"

Kael looked over, puzzled.

In the corner of the cave lay a scattered pile of strange objects.

A clear blue gemstone.

A mirror-like disc.

And several odd coins resembling human currency.

The moment his eyes landed on the blue gem, a powerful sense of desire surged within him.

"This feeling…"

He suddenly remembered the Thunder Stone necklace he had worn during his Ampharos life.

Without hesitation, Kael hopped quickly toward the corner where the items lay.

Using two slender fingers, he gently picked up the blue gemstone.

"Hiss!"

A refreshing surge of Water-type energy flowed through his fingertips.

The sensation felt like stepping from the blazing heat of midsummer into a perfectly air-conditioned room.

Energy radiating from the pure blue stone naturally clung to his body, seeping into his skin and flowing into his blood.

"Just as I thought…"

"A Water Stone."

Just as Kael suspected, the brilliant blue gem was indeed a Water Stone of extremely high quality. Its purity was comparable to the Thunder Stone he once possessed in his Ampharos life.

For a newborn Water-type Pokémon like him, such a stone was incredibly valuable.

Because of the high density of energy inside the Water Stone, he could not absorb it directly yet.

However, even the faint energy constantly leaking from the stone could provide numerous benefits.

It could gradually increase his daily experience gain, enhance the power of Water-type moves, expand his internal energy reserves, accelerate healing, and slowly strengthen his affinity with Water-type energy.

Kael had already experienced similar effects during his Ampharos life, when he carried the Thunder Stone he obtained from Darkstar.

Because of that, he understood exactly how precious the Water Stone in his hand was.

"But…"

"Where should I keep it?"

Kael frowned slightly.

In his previous life, Darkstar had crafted a necklace specifically to hold the Thunder Stone. He had never needed to think about this problem before.

But now he was just an ordinary wild Pokémon.

He certainly didn't have a necklace or ring.

Was he supposed to carry the Water Stone in his mouth?

Kael held the stone near his mouth for a moment before quickly abandoning the absurd idea.

"So what do I do?"

As he pondered, his eyes suddenly lit up.

Right. His thinking still hadn't fully adapted yet.

He wasn't human anymore.

He was a Sobble.

Turning around, Kael curled his large tail and wrapped it around the Water Stone.

The fist-sized gem disappeared neatly within the thick curl of his soft, fluffy tail.

From the outside, nothing seemed unusual. Only the moisture in the surrounding air had become slightly richer.

Kael nodded with satisfaction.

Then he turned back and looked at the strange disc lying on the ground.
