Diana's voice softened further, almost vulnerable now.
"I've always known you were special. But tonight… You showed me just how powerful you really are. And the fact that you chose to protect me, to protect me first… even after everything I've done… it means everything to me."
She glanced at me again, her eyes glistening with happy tears.
"So yes… your guess was exactly right. As long as I'm touching you — holding you, hugging you, anything — I get to experience that slowed world too. Only when there's skin-to-skin or body-to-body contact. That's why I understood so quickly. That's why I wasn't scared."
The car continued gliding smoothly through the night as Diana smiled at me, her expression full of pure love and trust.
"I don't need explanations right now. I just need you. My powerful, gentle, deadly protector."
She lifted my hand to her lips once more and kissed it slowly, meaningfully.
