Chapter 226 - 226

Caleb and his son eventually left the hospital with dark, defeated expressions. They finally understood the situation was far worse than they had believed — but surrendering outright was impossible. So they burned every connection they had left in Savannah, gambling everything on one last desperate attempt.

As for the ingrates they continued to struggle like dying fish in a net.

But their struggle was meaningless.

If Caleb still had a sliver of resistance, these ingrates had absolutely none.

Olivia watched Jason Carter staring thoughtfully at Caleb's retreating figure and reassured him softly:

"Don't worry, Mr. Carter. Based on all current evidence, we can absolutely send that entire group of ingrates to prison. And there's a ninety-nine percent chance of putting Caleb Jr. behind bars as well."

"The only possible obstacle would be judicial interference from someone extremely well-connected. But even then—your connections are broader. So even that scenario can be neutralized."

Jason nodded slowly.

"But if they really do pull strings inside the court system, there might still be a small chance for them to escape or receive a lighter sentence."

He didn't tolerate even a one percent chance.

If he was going to strike, he intended to crush them completely — grind them into dust — leave them absolutely no room to crawl back.

Because the moment he left Savannah, if these people had even a single opening, they would take revenge on Julia's family like rabid animals.

After a moment of thought, Jason took out his phone and called Principal.

The call connected instantly.

His voice was filled with concern:

"Jason, how are things over there? I heard Julia's mother made it through surgery and is out of danger?"

Jason smiled lightly."Yes. Thank you, Principal, for your concern. On behalf of my classmate Julia, I—"

"No need to thank me," he cut in. "Julia is a student of our university. And I personally know the feeling of having a family member hospitalized."

"I also heard about the trouble the Caleb family and those ingrates caused her. Don't worry — I'll help you deal with it."

This was no empty promise.

He was based in River City; his reach wasn't infinite. But against a minor mid-tier Savannah family like the Calebs?

His influence could certainly extend far enough.

Jason then said calmly:

"Thank you, Principal. But I would like to meet Savannah's mayor. Do you know him? Could you introduce me?"

He paused.

"I do know him… but we're not close. Even if I introduce you, it may not have much impact. What exactly are you planning to do?"

Jason replied casually:

"Nothing complicated. I just want to invest in Savannah's industries—the traditional medicine sector, new materials, low-altitude aviation, electronic information, smart manufacturing, environmental energy, digital membrane equipment…"

he went silent.

He immediately understood Jason's intent.

Every industry Jason mentioned was currently on Savannah's top-level economic development agenda. The city was aggressively seeking investors in these sectors — especially large-scale, long-term commitments.

If Jason stepped forward with a major investment…

The mayor would absolutely welcome him.

Jason was about to use the same move he had used before:

Tie himself directly to the mayor's political achievements.

Was it clever?

Yes — brilliantly so.It was an open, straightforward strategy, and it was extremely effective.

Was it difficult?

Absolutely — those industries required massive capital investments and long development cycles. If investors were easy to find, Savannah wouldn't still be trying to attract them.

He sighed helplessly.

"…Alright. I'll call him now. The mayor will definitely be thrilled to hear you're willing to invest in these areas."

"But Jason — remember, your project in the City just launched. You need to be careful with your capital."

Jason replied gently:

"Don't worry, Principal. I'll definitely reserve enough funds."

That was what he said.

But in truth?

He had no intention of reserving much at all.

Because once this mission ended, the system would give him a new wave of "simp gold."For Jason Carter… the system's tasks always came first.

After Jason hung up, barely half an hour passed before his phone rang again.

The caller's tone was extremely polite:

"Hello, Mr. Carter, this is Douglas Jensen, Secretary-General of Savannah City…"

The next morning, Secretary-General Jensen personally arrived in a government vehicle to pick up Jason Carter and Olivia. He didn't send an assistant. He came himself.

He then escorted them directly into City Hall and up to the mayor's office.

When Mayor Graham Grahamsaw Jason, he immediately stepped forward with warm enthusiasm, shaking Jason's hand with both of his:

"Jason, please, have a seat! I've heard your praise endlessly, and yesterday, President called me and practically lifted you into the sky. Meeting you today, I see your reputation is not exaggerated at all — truly impressive!"

Jason smiled."You flatter me, Mayor Graham. You're every bit as distinguished as the rumors say."

Mayor Graham burst out laughing."Haha! No need for mutual flattery. Let's talk business."

"I've been briefed by President — you want to invest in Savannah's industrial sectors. On behalf of the city, I extend you the warmest welcome. Please take a look through these projects and see which ones fit your vision."

"Don't underestimate these fields. They require high investment and slow returns, yes — but they represent the future competitiveness of America. They are long-term national strategies. Once they yield results, they will generate enormous profits."

"When he told me you were interested in these sectors, I was genuinely surprised. Young man, you have remarkable foresight."

As he spoke, Secretary-General Jensen placed a thick stack of files in front of Jason.

Jason flipped lightly through them — every single one was from the list he had given yesterday:

• low-altitude aviation / UAV engines• UAV logistics production bases• advanced medicine research and medical centers• new materials manufacturing• special engineering plastics• high-molecular materials• environmental energy• waste-to-energy power projects• digital membrane equipment• smart manufacturing systems…all high-priority industries Savannah had been struggling for years to attract investors for.

If anyone in the city saw this scene, they would be shocked.

Even prominent CEOs rarely received a Secretary-General, much less the Mayor himself personally hosting the meeting.

The only reason Jason received this treatment was simple:

First, because of his conection.Second — and more importantly — Jason's staggering financial capacity made Mayor Graham treat him like a VIP.

This was someone who spent hundreds of millions like pocket change.Someone with unfathomable backing.Someone whose investments could literally boost the city's performance metrics.

Jason had understood all this before he stepped into the building.

He closed the folder and said directly:

"For starters, I'm very optimistic about the low-altitude aviation sector — UAV engine R&D, UAV logistics manufacturing bases, aviation maintenance hubs. These will be major national trends."

"I'd like to invest around 70–80 million dollars into that sector."

Mayor Graham's hand twitched.

Jason continued calmly:

"For the traditional medicine and endocrine diagnostic center initiative, I want to invest another 70–80 million."

"For the new materials sector — high-molecular materials, engineered plastics, advanced composites — I'll allocate around 100 million for the first phase."

"And for the environmental energy industry, including the waste-to-energy power plant, I'll invest 50 million."

When Jason finished listing them off, both Mayor Graham and Secretary-General Jensen had turned stiff.

They originally thought Jason might choose one sector.

Maybe two at most.

But Jason went down the list checking nearly every box, casually tossing out figures of tens of millions of dollars at a time.

They had met investors before. But never one this extravagant.Never one for whom hundreds of millions sounded like loose change.

It was a moment that made both city officials glance at each other — each thinking the same thing:

This young man is terrifying.
