Max stood in front of Sarzar, smiling like the Devil himself. Max then ran faster towards Sarzar, who was in complete shock with his sudden defeat. The moment he regained his consciousness and opened his eyes, all he saw was the blue-eyed demon with a smile, dealing out another devastating punch. This time Max punched him in the face, breaking his nose in the process and knocking him back. Sarzar tumbled through the sands, trying desperately to land a counter attack.
Knightley was observing this from above them and she called it to Max.
Knightley: You smiling like you won! Remember that if it wasn't for me, you'd still be taking his lightning strikes!
Max: I KNOW! Me smiling....is just a reflex thing!
Max talked as he continued running towards Sarzar. He knew that he had to take this chance. If he gave enough time for Sarzar to act upon, then it would revert back to the status quo they had earlier, in an eternal stalemate. Max rushed to Sarzar but before he could punch him, Sarzar used his lightning to propel himself away towards the ocean. Max's punch hit the ground, shaking it with force. But Max realised that he had completely missed his opponent. What he heard next was the cackle from above him, the voice belonging to Knightley.
Knightley: You couldn't even land that punch!!! Hahahahahhahahahaha!
Max retorted in anger.
Max: Well, forgive me! I'm a right-hander...it's kinda weird to rely on my left arm! And were you always THIS annoying??
Knightley: Haha...pretty much!
Most of the time Max would wonder about different superheroes and what they would do in situations like this. His entire comicbook knowledge was not helping him for some reason. He had seen fighting against Electrical guys before in comics, but the guy who fought him was literally made of rubber. It wasn't something Max could replicate. He had taken a lot of pride in his knowledge about comicbook nonsense, but once he was relegated to real life, it wasn't helping him. He realised that most of what happened in the story was carefully catered to make the protagonist win in certain fights. But there was no one here helping him, other than himself. This wasn't a comic book. This was real life. A messed up one, at that, but real life. Sarzar made it out of the ocean, again in the air with his power over electricity and lightning. He smiled again, looking down at Max.
Sarzar: You packed quite a punch! And YOU-!!
Sarzar turned to the window to look at Knightley, who stood there, unamused.
Sarzar: What you did here...is absolute TREASON. You were already a failure, but failing to aide me will result in your death at the hands of our master!
Knightley: Master? Oh you mean that bum that barely moves every thousand years?? Yeah, Right!
Sarzar: How dare you!!
Knightley: Relax...our "Master" will chase me in....maybe the next thousand years...I have a lot of time..
Sarzar: Don't worry, when I'm done with them, I'll personally make sure that you enjoy your punishment.
Max was seeing them talk and couldn't wait anymore.
Max: You act like you are gonna win this...
Max understood very well that he had no way to defeat Sarzar. He would probably lose, as long as he flies. But Max also knew one thing. Sarzar was the type of opponent that would rage at every mean comment.
Max had seen his younger brother play online games with random strangers and when he felt like losing, he'd mock them, and some how they would lose their cool and end up losing.
Max had no idea if it would work at all, but seeing the two Ameliorates' conversation, it felt like he was an extremely impulsive type. Almost like an entitled brat.
Sarzar: What did you just say?..
Max: Nah a genuine question though...why do you all think that you are superior to us??
Sarzar: Why?? Isn't it obvious? Because WE ARE superior. You are all insects beneath our feet!!
Sarzar looked almost offended with Max's question, as if saying that it's natural that the Ameliorates were superior to the humans. Max smiled at him. It reminded him of the fourteen year old passive racists back during his time, who acted like they were right no matter what.
Max: Haa...I see...
Sarzar raised his eyebrows, looking at his smile.
Max: You know...to me...you like the insect....I don't know man....you are the one flying around like the goddamn mosquito that you are!
Sarzar: WHAT DID YOU CALL ME???
Max: Oh...I guess I need to hit it home. I called you a Mosquito. But atleast Mosquitoes aren't pedophiles with superiority complex, living as a grown up man-child.
Sarzar's eyes turned red with rage. He swooped down to hurt Max, but he jumped out of the way. He kept laughing and smiled at Sarzar.
Max: Did it hurt you, you poor kid. Do you need to change your diapers or something?
Max had no idea of he knew what diapers were, but it didn't matter anymore. At this point Max wasn't even aware of what he was talking about, but whatever he did tell, it was working. Sarzar was pissed and was attacking him again, but this time he was lower. Low enough for Max to punch him, by jumping a bit higher.
If only he knew a way to jump that high....
And then suddenly he heard a huge wave splash against the huge rock behind him. His eyes began glowing as he immediately turned to look at it. It was as if time itself had slowed and what he saw the Silent Angel in the exact same place he saw him there.
The Silent Angel unfurled his white long wings on his back and pointed at it. He wasn't talking...but it felt to Max....like he was asking him...to FLY.
