Yhwach's crazed laughter echoed through the Seireitei, amplified by the video. The Gotei's Shinigami froze, questioning their ears. Betrayal was anathema, a despicable act. Yet Yhwach's words suggested Yamamoto had committed such a sin.
In the Sixth Division, Renji Abarai scoffed, "The Quincy King's cunning, stirring unrest before his death!" He refused to believe Yamamoto capable of such evil. But Byakuya Kuchiki countered, "No, Renji. As much as I hate to admit it, those names Yhwach mentioned are real."
"What?!" Renji was stunned. "How do you know, Captain?"
"Yanahara Kinroku, first Third Division captain… Shijima Chiwu, first Fourth Division captain… Jikuninotsume, first Seventh Division captain…" Byakuya listed, his face grim. "The Kuchiki archives record events from a thousand years ago, including the founding of the Gotei 13. Those captains fell into Hell, eternally burned by flames—likely Zanka no Tachi's doing in the chaos of war."
Renji's heart sank. The tragedy had happened before, and now, to make Yhwach despair, Yamamoto was willing to risk the Soul Society again.
"No matter. That was the past," Byakuya said. "The Head Captain today is kinder, shouldering the Soul Society's stability." Yet in the video, Yamamoto acted unexpectedly. As Yhwach was engulfed by skeletons, he turned to leave, contrary to his vengeful intent.
"What? Is he so sure Yhwach will die that he's leaving?" Renji wondered. Yamamoto answered, stopping to face Yhwach: "Do you know why I kept my distance? Because…" A crimson blade light flashed as he raised Zanka no Tachi. "Zanka no Tachi, North—Tenchi Kaijin!"
A slash drained the battlefield's air, absorbing all flames. The world trembled, and the screen split into fragments, showing Yhwach's broken body. No defense could withstand this strike—only death awaited. As the screen shattered, Yamamoto's voice roared: "Heaven, Earth, Ashes, All!"
