Chapter 229 - Rayquaza's Visit

Chapter 229:

Likes getting hit?

What kind of M…

Hearing Mew's assessment of the two Legendary Pokémon, Hayashi Kaede couldn't help but laugh out loud.

But thinking about it, Mew's evaluation was somewhat reasonable.

One governed the sky, one the ocean, and one the land.

The ideal scenario would be for the three to stay strictly within their own domains without interfering.

But those two big guys always started fighting for no reason, forcing Rayquaza to come out and mediate—by beating both of them up.

Hayashi Kaede knew this well, but Jirachi clearly did not. As it listened to Mew's story, it let out several surprised sounds.

When the tale reached the part where the two Legendary Pokémon's fights caused destruction in many places, Jirachi would frown and denounce them.

A thousand years ago, it had been because the Pokémon with the big cannon on its back attacked Akaze's camp that Jirachi had wished for Rayquaza to intervene.

Hearing that Rayquaza descended whenever the two fought, Jirachi's impression of the Legendary Pokémon improved even further.

Jirachi was so excited, so much so that even when the rainy weather began to dissipate. The gloomy clouds scattered, leaving the sky completely clear, Jirachi still didn't even notice.

Mew looked up at the sky, somewhat confused.

It thought to itself, *I only transformed into it once… and it actually came chasing me?*

"The rain stopped?"

Hayashi Kaede, listening to the conversation between the two Mythical Pokémon, looked up at the suddenly cloudless sky in surprise.

He didn't dwell on it too much.

Meanwhile, at the Pokémon League Headquarters in the Eastova Region…

Cosmic Observation Department

As a relatively idle department, their workload was always light. Nothing noteworthy had happened for over a decade.

Their usual duties involved observing the mysterious cosmos, detecting energy fluctuations, and reviewing satellite footage. Occasionally, they might spot a mysterious shadow flashing through space.

Today, the monitor operator, as usual, sat in front of the satellite feed for the Eastova Region, sipping goji berry tea and comfortably watching the images.

He thought the job was perfect—just sit all day, watch the stars, and clock out on time. Occasionally, he could admire the vast cosmos.

Just as he assumed today would be like any other, a strong energy fluctuation alarm suddenly blared.

Stunned, he quickly set down his cup. "Rotom, pull up the feed!"

Immediately, the screen displayed a scene high in the sky. Among thin white clouds, a black, serpentine figure sped toward the coastal area of the Eastova Region.

"Zoom in!"

The figure was too blurry. He had Rotom capture the frame and enlarge it.

But when the image paused and zoomed in, he spat out the goji berry in his mouth. "Holy…!?"

"Rayquaza! Isn't that a Pokémon from the Hoenn Region?"

This Legendary Pokémon usually lived in outer space. Historical records said it only appeared when Groudon and Kyogre fought, to stop them.

And it usually appeared in Hoenn.

Why was this one a shiny Rayquaza?

"Report! The powerful energy life form is advancing into the Eastova Region!" Rotom's voice sounded promptly.

He quickly pressed the highest-level alarm, deeply concerned.

*Good grief, Rayquaza is coming. Does that mean Groudon and Kyogre are about to fight here? That would be a disaster…*

At the same time, a timid young man in a café called "Serendipity Coffee" changed expression. He picked up his phone and barked, "What is it?"

"Esteemed Champion! It is Rayquaza! It's flying toward our Eastova Region's coast! Reason unknown! Be alert for the possible appearance of Groudon and Kyogre!"

The young man's face turned pale. He immediately left the café and summoned Moltres.

While mounting it, he asked, "Where?"

"Past Nagisuna City… Aogiri City."

"Aogiri City?"

Kazephyr recognized the name but didn't dwell on it. "Issue the highest-level evacuation drill in Aogiri City immediately! Citizens must take shelter first!"

"Yes!"

Moltres soared like a ball of raging fire, accelerating to maximum speed. Kazephyr's phone displayed Rayquaza's path in real-time.

When the red dot stopped, he checked the location.

"The Neighborhood Breeding House?" Kazephyr exclaimed. All his suspicions had become reality.

...

At the Neighborhood Breeding House, inside the plantation, Hayashi Kaede wondered why the rain had stopped so abruptly.

Rotom flew out urgently.

"Attention, all citizens of Aogiri City! A powerful Pokémon is approaching the city! Please evacuate northward or proceed to the nearest shelter!"

"Master, Aogiri City is issuing an emergency evacuation notice!" Rotom reported.

"A powerful Pokémon?" Hayashi Kaede was stunned. "How powerful?"

He had seen many strong Pokémon before; ordinary ones didn't scare him.

But the next second, Gardevoir appeared by his side, its expression serious, warily scanning the sky.

With a violent gust of wind, the weather changed abruptly.

Above the plantation, a pair of giant pale yellow eyes looked down.

Following that, a majestic black form coiled across the sky. Its body writhed in the air, and Hayashi Kaede finally understood why the rain had suddenly stopped.

Rayquaza.

The real ruler of the sky Rayquaza had arrived.
