Chapter 277 - Chapter 277: An Unexpected Teleportation

Chapter 277: An Unexpected Teleportation

Outside the Royal Capital of Ersten, a teleportation magic circle was slowly revolving.

Ela's round trip had unexpectedly failed to exhaust the stored mana, making it convenient for Rhodes and Serie to head directly to the Southern Unified Empire.

However, since they had never been there before, they needed to reposition the coordinates.

As for how to reposition, it was somewhat similar to landing on Earth from outer space. If the positioning was accurate, everything went smoothly. But if it was off by even a few degrees, they might end up splashing into the ocean.

"Is the location set? Just transport us near their Imperial Capital. Don't be too conspicuous."

Serie confirmed one last time. She wasn't afraid of trouble, but she didn't want to land right in the middle of a crowd or a conflict.

"I will try my best." Rhodes outputted mana steadily from his fingertips, adjusting the final destination of the magic circle.

However, just as the teleportation was about to activate, his brow furrowed slightly. He sensed an abnormally vast yet obscure energy fluctuation not far from the Southern Empire's capital.

It was extremely faint, yet it interfered with the stability of his preset coordinates.

"Hm?" He tried to correct it, but the teleportation circle had already activated. Blinding light swallowed the two of them instantly!

Southern Unified Empire, Above the Imperial Capital.

The azure sky seemed to be torn apart by invisible giant hands. Without warning, a dazzling magic circle radiating palpitating mana fluctuations suddenly unfolded!

Its scale was so massive it covered nearly half the Imperial City!

"Enemy attack?!!"

"It is Teleportation Magic! Maximum alert!"

Inside the capital, countless mages sensed the terrifying spatial fluctuations instantly, horror appearing on their faces.

The defensive barrier of the capital was triggered immediately. A translucent energy shield attempted to rise, but under the impact of the terrifying energy leaking from the giant magic circle, it was torn apart as easily as fragile paper, leaving a massive breach.

Deep within the palace, Friedrich, who was discussing matters with Emperor Legate, snapped his head up, his expression changing drastically. "This mana fluctuation... how is this possible?! It tore directly through the capital's magical barrier?!"

Emperor Legate also bolted up from his throne, sensing the terrifying magical waves above his city. "What is happening?!"

"Large-scale long-distance Teleportation Magic!" Friedrich's voice was urgent, laced with disbelief. "Your Majesty! The fall of the First Dwarven Capital thousands of years ago began with demons raiding the skies above the city in a similar manner!"

This association made Legate's scalp tingle. Is history repeating itself?!

But why me?

"It must not be allowed to complete! All mages, interrupt it immediately!"

Friedrich hesitated no longer. Casting flight magic, he flew out of the palace, commanding the powerful mages within the capital to act, attempting to forcibly interrupt the teleportation circle with magic.

In an instant, hundreds of powerful magical lights rose from all corners of the city. Each represented a powerful mage carrying destructive energy, brazenly bombarding the giant magic circle in the sky.

They were trying to interfere with or even destroy it before it stabilized completely.

Inside the teleportation channel, Rhodes naturally sensed the attacks from the outside. But what intrigued him more was the interference source that had suddenly appeared when he was setting the coordinates.

He sensed a power similar to Athos within it—the aura of a Holy Sword that had existed for thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of years.

Could the Hero's Sword be near the Imperial Palace of the Southern Unified Empire?

But that isn't within the range Ela and I calculated.

Rhodes didn't dwell on it too long. The first priority was to complete the teleportation spell.

"The positioning was interfered with. The coordinates are anchored directly above their capital," Rhodes said calmly. "People outside are attacking the channel, trying to interrupt the spell."

Serie snorted coldly, mana rippling slightly around her. "Shall I teach them a lesson?"

Although the teleportation process wasn't complete, Serie could cast offensive magic directly through the circle if she wanted.

"No need to waste effort. They cannot break my magic."

Rhodes knew teleportation magic like the back of his hand. It was impossible for these people to break his spell with brute force.

He simply mobilized the surrounding spatial power. The spatial walls around the channel instantly solidified. The powerful spells bombarding it from the outside couldn't even stir a ripple.

Friedrich and all the attacking mages turned pale with horror!

Their combined attacks had no effect whatsoever! Just what kind of terrifying existence was arriving?

Under countless gazes of suspicion and fear, the light of the giant magic circle in the sky reached its peak, then slowly dissipated.

There was no army of demons as expected.

Only two people, hovering quietly high in the sky.

A human and an elf. A very rare combination.

But when he saw the elf's face clearly, Friedrich's heart sank violently!

It is Serie!

Why is she here? And at this critical moment?

Did... did His Majesty's secret plan get exposed?!

But who is that young human beside her?

Friedrich had seen portraits of Serie and knew she had two personal apprentices, but he had never heard of her having a male apprentice.

suppressing the stormy waves in his heart, he steeled himself and ascended, surrounded by a crowd of court mages, maintaining a safe distance. "So it is Lady Serie. May I ask what brings you to the Imperial Capital so suddenly?"

" The commotion of the teleportation just now was too great and caused some misunderstandings. I hope you can forgive us."

Serie merely glanced at him indifferently, having absolutely no intention of answering. Instead, she turned her gaze to Rhodes beside her, posturing as if leaving everything for him to decide.

This subtle action made Friedrich even more suspicious and uncertain.

Rhodes took a half-step forward. His gaze swept over the Imperial Mages below, who looked as if they were facing a great enemy, before landing on Friedrich. His voice, amplified by magic, spread in all directions:

"I represent His Majesty Fidel of the Kingdom of Ersten. I have important matters to discuss with your Emperor. There was a slight deviation in the teleportation just now, startling everyone. My apologies."

Since the teleportation had already gone wrong, Rhodes decided to state his purpose directly and use Fidel as a shield, giving himself a legitimate excuse.

Friedrich's eyelid twitched.

Representing Fidel?

If it were any other mage, he wouldn't believe it—especially after causing such a huge commotion. But standing beside him was Serie!

Since Serie appeared here accompanying him, it meant this man was thoroughly working for the Kingdom of Ersten.

Friedrich dared not be negligent, especially after the opponent displayed such terrifying strength.

"I see. Then it seems it was all a misunderstanding." He tried to make his smile appear natural. "His Majesty will certainly welcome two esteemed guests who have traveled from afar. Please, follow me."

He made a gesture of invitation, but secretly, he cast magical runes signaling the highest alert, putting every mage in the capital on guard.
