Gohan hugged the Dragon Ball tightly. Even he could tell every person in front of him had higher battle power than the last. Especially that purple-skinned man standing in the middle… he was practically from a completely different dimension.
At that moment, the shortest member of the group, a chubby little guy with green skin hopped out and pointed at Vegeta.
"What kind of medicine did you take?! Don't you know that without Lord Frieza's power, you can't accomplish anything?!"
Gohan froze for a second. Among these people, this guy's battle power was the worst, maybe not even as high as Gohan's. So why was someone like him mixed in with a squad of monsters?
As the little guy inched closer, Vegeta sneered. "Don't come near me. Your stench is unbearable."
That one sentence completely enraged the chubby little guy. He was just about to charge when the red-haired fighter behind him yanked him back and threw him into formation.
"Don't be so impulsive, Guldo. The captain hasn't decided that he's your prey yet."
Captain Ginyu waved a hand. "Hand over the Dragon Balls, Vegeta. If you behave, maybe we'll even spare your life."
"Don't dream!" Vegeta snorted. "Your scouters can find me… but they can't find this. So what if I do this?!"
With that, he suddenly turned and hurled the Dragon Ball in the opposite direction. He threw with all his strength the Dragon Ball shot off like a bullet and vanished from sight in an instant.
But the moment it left his hand, the tallest member of the Ginyu Force blurred into a streak of purple light and chased after it like a meteor.
In less than five seconds, he was back in formation, calmly holding the Dragon Ball Vegeta had thrown.
Vegeta's pupils contracted violently. He had never imagined someone could be that fast. Before he knew it, cold sweat covered his forehead. Watching their grins, he felt like he was being toyed with.
Gohan was so shocked he couldn't even speak.
Ginyu curled his lips with a light chuckle. "If you wanted to throw it far away, that's a shame—because Burter's speed is the fastest in the universe."
They already had six Dragon Balls. If they also took the one in Gohan's hands, then even dying here would mean nothing but a pointless death.
Vegeta shouted, "Hurry smash the Dragon Ball!"
In the panic, Gohan didn't hesitate. He raised the Dragon Ball, ready to slam it down
And it vanished.
His right hand struck his left hand instead. He didn't even see what happened. When he looked up again, the Dragon Ball was already in Guldo's hands.
"What…?" Gohan couldn't believe what he was seeing. Guldo hadn't moved at all—yet the Dragon Ball had been snatched away without him even noticing.
Vegeta gritted his teeth. "So the rumors were true… They say Guldo can temporarily stop events."
Ginyu folded his arms. "The Dragon Balls are complete. Next… we'll deal with you. I'll take good care of you."
Seeing the massive gap in battle power, Gohan couldn't help asking in a low voice, "Vegeta… do we really have to fight them?"
Vegeta answered without hesitation, "You know as well as I do—running is useless. Use whatever battle power you can. I know you've shown terrifying potential back on Earth, but you still can't match them… even so, I'm still asking you."
Just as they focused and prepared for combat, the Ginyu Force started fooling around.
Ginyu decided he would handle Vegeta himself. As for the remaining "little brat," they'd decide by rock-paper-scissors.
That decision immediately caused a loud wave of complaints. Guldo, in particular, had a grudge with Vegeta and refused to let anyone else take him.
In the end, to stop the arguing from dragging on forever, Ginyu decided he would take the Dragon Balls back himself and leave the rest to them.
The final arrangement was this: Recoome—the red-haired one—would fight Vegeta, and Guldo would take Gohan.
Guldo grumbled, "Am I the guy who just picks up trash on the battlefield or what? Fine. But Recoome when you kill Vegeta, you have to let me do it!"
Seeing how they acted like they didn't even care about him, Vegeta grew angrier and angrier… but he could only swallow it.
When Ginyu started to leave with the Dragon Balls, Gohan finally couldn't take it anymore. A golden sphere of light formed in his right hand. Just as he was about to fire a blast, Vegeta stopped him.
"Stop!"
Vegeta shouted, "I won't allow you to waste your strength. Focus on how to take these guys down. Get over here."
Watching the two of them huddle together, Recoome didn't move at all. He just grinned. "Holding a strategy meeting? Now this is getting interesting."
Vegeta clenched his jaw and spoke in a low voice. "The one you'll be fighting is Guldo. His battle power is low, but he has psychic abilities—don't underestimate him. I'll ask you again… where is Kakarot? Why hasn't he come yet?"
Gohan said, "I don't know. But he should be here soon."
Vegeta said, "He'd better hurry. He's annoying, but if he joins the fight, it'll help at least a little."
But after losing the Dragon Balls, Gohan couldn't stay calm anymore. He didn't understand why they had come all the way out here—only to fail to gather the seven Dragon Balls, and then let these bad guys seize the chance at eternal life.
In the end, Gohan couldn't hold back. He clenched his fists—his aura surged in an instant. The scouter's numbers shot up crazily.
That not only startled Guldo slightly, it also alerted Creed and Goku, who were searching for Frieza's ship.
Creed hadn't expected Gohan's side to start fighting so fast. Was the opponent Vegeta? Frieza's men? Or had the Ginyu Force already arrived? Had they begun moving without even waiting for Frieza's orders?
Gohan hovered in midair and fired a full-power Kamehameha. A golden shockwave blasted downward toward Guldo.
Guldo didn't dodge. He didn't even flinch. He just shouted up at the sky:
"Stop!"
In an instant, time seemed to freeze. The shockwave hung motionless in midair. Everything around them stood perfectly still.
Guldo moved backward, trying to find the best distance to attack. Once he got far enough from the frozen blast, he looked up
Gohan was gone.
He scanned around, only to see Gohan had already flown far away.
