Chapter 80 - Chapter 80: The Cruel Ninja World

Hearing this, Uchiha Yato abandoned his mischievous intentions.

Indeed, Jinchuriki were typically objects of hatred.

Had Uzumaki Mito of the Hidden Leaf not held such high status, most who knew of her existence would likely have despised her too.

Consider Naruto—brainwashed by villagers, manipulated by the Third Hokage. It's hard to comprehend how he grew up without hatred and still chose to protect the Hidden Leaf Village. Even with Asura's Chakra influence, its effect seemed overwhelmingly strong.

But the man before him was different.

Unaffected by any external Chakra influence, he had achieved perfect Jinchuriki status solely through his own accord with Shukaku.Uchiha Yato said, "You truly are a kind-hearted person!"

"Then, do you know the purpose of my visit this time?"

Bunpuku studied Uchiha Yato before replying, "The reason for coming here can only be for the Tailed Beast."

"Outsiders seeking the Tailed Beast generally have two motives."

"The first is to release the Tailed Beast, plunging the Land of Wind into chaos once more."

"The second is to seek knowledge about the Tailed Beast."

"So, young benefactor, which one are you?"

Uchiha Yato hadn't expected Bunpuku to be so forthright.

This shinobi world was ruthless—those who were kind-hearted and virtuous were the easiest to perish.

Take the original story, for example.

Shinobi like Zabuza were a perfect illustration. He had the strength to protect himself.

He didn't need to care about the fate of Kirigakure. He could have easily survived as a rogue ninja, even if he had to take White with him.

But it was precisely because of his kindness that he was forced to take missions to save money, hoping to hire stronger shinobi to solve Kirigakure's problems.

In the end, he became the first "experience pack" for the protagonist's team. So, in short, kind-hearted people rarely survived long.

With a teasing tone, Uchiha Yato said to Bunpuku,

"Aren't you afraid that I might be the first type you mentioned?"

"This is a ruthless shinobi world—kind people are the easiest to devour."

Hearing this, Bunpuku smiled and replied, "Then it simply means this calamity is my fate."

"If the young benefactor is guided by the Tailed Beast's will, then within the bounds of what I can answer, I will tell you."

Bunpuku's words were carefully chosen—if something was inconvenient to answer, he would simply regard it as unspeakable.

Uchiha Yato's first question immediately put Bunpuku in a difficult position.

"I'd like to see the One-Tail. Would that be possible?"

No matter what, Shukaku was a Tailed Beast. Its terrifying destructive power, if released carelessly, could pose a threat to the entire Land of Wind.

Considering this, Bunpuku couldn't immediately give Uchiha Yato an answer.

Understanding Bunpuku's dilemma, Uchiha Yato spoke reassuringly, "If you trust me, there's no need to worry. I believe my strength is more than enough to suppress Shukaku."

"If I recall correctly, the Jinchuriki of Sunagakure aren't allowed to sleep, right?"

"This way, you can finally get some proper rest."

Bunpuku chuckled in response. "With your assurance, I feel much more at ease."

"However, in Sunagakure, we don't call them Jinchuriki."

"People like us are called 'Spiritual Mediums.'"

Bunpuku didn't elaborate further.

Closing his eyes, he soon lay down on the ground.

Before long, the surrounding sand began to stir violently.

A sandstorm quickly formed, obscuring Bunpuku's figure.

The harsh environment forced Uchiha Yato to squint.

Then, a booming voice roared out.

"WAHAHAHA! This great one has finally emerged!"

Hearing that narcissistic voice, Uchiha Yato knew Shukaku had appeared.

At that moment, Uchiha Yato called out to Shukaku, "Shukaku, let's fight."

"If you win, you'll be free—at least until dawn, when they discover you."Upon hearing Uchiha Yato's words, Shukaku snapped out of his daze and glared at this insignificant insect.

Shukaku was somewhat surprised. Aside from Bunpuku, every human who encountered him either wanted to kill him or seal him away.

Because Bunpuku bore a striking resemblance to the Sage of Six Paths, Shukaku hadn't given him too much trouble.

But this brat before him showed no trace of fear whatsoever.

This piqued Shukaku's interest, stirring a mischievous urge to toy with him.

Shukaku sneered, "Hey, brat, what's your name? You've got some nerve talking back to me."

Uchiha Yato replied, "I wanted to be friends, but you're too weak. Never mind."

The sheer lethality of those words was akin to a woman telling a man, "You're useless," or "That's it?"

And to make it worse, it was delivered with a disdainful, mocking gaze.

Shukaku immediately puffed up in anger. "Oh, very good! You've successfully caught my attention, brat. I'll make sure you never forget this lesson!"

As he spoke, Shukaku began forming hand seals before declaring:

"Ninjutsu: Wind Release: Sandstorm Bullet!"

The colossal Shukaku opened his gaping maw, revealing an immense sphere of wind-natured chakra swirling within!

The chakra orb shimmered like a dazzling blue-green jewel, radiating an intimidating glow and overwhelming energy fluctuations.

Even more astonishingly, the orb was continuously absorbing natural energy from its surroundings, visibly condensing and compressing at a rapid pace!

As time passed, the energy within the orb grew increasingly turbulent, as if it could tear through space itself.

Once Shukaku finished charging, he unleashed the chakra orb with a mighty exhale.

Meanwhile, Uchiha Yato had already summoned his Susanoo during this brief window.

Aside from seeking a way to communicate with Tailed Beasts, he also wanted to test their strength firsthand.

If possible, Yato intended to beat up every single Tailed Beast—just to teach them who was the boss and who was the underling!

As the Susanoo clashed with the Sandstorm Bullet, Shukaku wasn't idle either.

He resorted to a bit of trickery, kicking up massive amounts of sand and mixing it into his wind-style attack.

This obscured Yato's vision, and Shukaku further pulverized the sand to disorient him.

Seeing Shukaku's little combo, Yato couldn't help but feel amused.

From his earlier experiments, he had already gauged Shukaku's current strength—it posed no real threat to him.

So, he decided to go easy and have some fun.

After all, he still needed to ask Shukaku for some Tailed Beast-related knowledge later.

But then Shukaku played dirty, burying Yato under an even finer layer of sand.

Yato failed to dodge in time and ended up with a mouthful of dust.

Shukaku, however, didn't go for the kill. To him, having a plaything to vent his frustrations on wasn't so bad.

Besides, Yato hadn't shown much hostility toward him from the start.

This just went to show that most Tailed Beasts were actually quite friendly toward humans.

Kurama: *I** Uchiha Madara***… (Kurama sends his regards to Madara's family) Uchiha Yato climbed out of the sand at this moment, only to see the large tanuki before him letting out a mocking laugh.

Watching Shukaku, Uchiha Yato "smiled" and said, "Excellent! Shukaku."

"You've successfully caught my attention!"

In his mind, he spoke to the system: "System, give me that genjutsu I had my eye on earlier!"

"Take the 20,000 Emotion Coins!"

The system responded, "Are you sure you want to use this one?"

"Won't it be a bit too cruel..."
