Chapter 752: A Continuous Stream of Stars
Lu Ke, Curry, and Candice stood still, taking a half-step back and gesturing for Emma to go in first.
Emma didn't refuse. She held her chin high, walked into the locker room with a majestic stride in her royal blue heels, and didn't look sideways. She didn't even bother to glance at Lu Ke, as if this action could regain the initiative.
But the good times didn't last long. After taking two steps forward and arriving at the locker room entrance, Emma realized that the photographer hadn't followed her!
Turning around abruptly, Emma saw Robin standing in front of Lu Ke, a bright smile on his face. He pointed at his number 14 red jersey. "Bambi, can you sign this for me later? Your games last season were truly amazing, and I think we were just a little unlucky."
Damn it!
Only then did Emma notice that the name on the back of Robin's jersey was a big "LU." She held back the urge to gnash her teeth. With a quick glance, she saw Candice standing next to Lu Ke.
She was wearing a home team jersey, denim shorts, and a pair of white canvas shoes.
The simple outfit wasn't ostentatious and blended in perfectly with the atmosphere of the sports venue. It exuded a sunny and fresh vibe. Even without any extra accessories or makeup, her long, slender, and well-proportioned legs still made people look at her. She swallowed before she even realized it.
Even in flat canvas shoes, Candice's height and proportions completely outshone Emma. The inherent advantage of a model was an insurmountable wall.
Although Emma was wearing high heels at the moment, it couldn't save her from the embarrassment in terms of presence. In fact, Emma started to feel that her heels and suit were too formal. Dressed like this at a sports event seemed out of place. After realizing this, Emma became even more uncomfortable.
"Robin!" Emma tried to maintain a polite tone and called out. "Work is important, or we might delay the team's preparation for the game. If the game's outcome is unexpected, it won't be good."
When she said the second half of the sentence, she deliberately glanced at Lu Ke out of the corner of her eye, hinting at something. Then, without waiting for Lu Ke's reaction, she gestured for Robin to follow her into the locker room, leaving behind a tall and proud figure.
Lu Ke smiled and nodded to Robin. "Of course. Let's get to work first."
After getting the green light, Robin gave a thumbs-up and quickly followed Emma into the locker room. Since he was a fan of Lu Ke, he was naturally very familiar with the other members of the San Francisco 49ers. Today's job was simply amazing.
In the blink of an eye, only Lu Ke and the other two were left in the hallway.
Candice, who was standing next to Lu Ke, looked up at him. A faint smile appeared in her eyes, and she said meaningfully, "Mr. Lu."
Lu Ke's name was very unique. Most Americans—or British, French, and other Westerners—would naturally assume that "Luke" was his first name. No one would know that the last name and first name were combined. Of course, with Lu Ke's success in the NFL, the number of fans who knew this fact was rapidly increasing.
However, Emma was clearly not a fan.
Her address was "Mr. Lu." Combined with the tension between them when they met, it wasn't hard to guess that there must be a story between Lu Ke and Emma.
Then, Candice winked at Lu Ke and walked into the locker room with light steps. Yes, it was a light step, as if she were a young student humming a pop song on her way to school.
Without saying anything else, with just a simple address, Lu Ke could clearly feel the teasing and mockery from Candice. He watched her slender and graceful back, which left no room for him to explain or refute. He couldn't help but chuckle.
Then, Curry also scurried over and whispered to Lu Ke, "Did something happen between you and Emma?"
Even Curry noticed.
However, Curry wasn't asking out of gossip but out of concern. The sparks that just flew between them felt like a disaster waiting to happen, a dramatic show that could break out at any time. This made Curry a little nervous.
Lu Ke chuckled and patted Curry on the back, speaking in a tone that was meant to comfort a child. "Don't worry. We won't argue."
Curry nodded seriously. "That's good."
Lu Ke was trying hard to hold back his laughter. He didn't say anything else and walked into the locker room with Curry.
Clearly, the locker room was filled with shock and a lack of understanding. Everyone was dumbfounded, looking at the charming Emma. Their minds couldn't keep up with the situation. The noise and excitement gradually subsided as they tried to figure out what was going on.
First, it was Candice. Now it was Emma, and they only just noticed Curry who appeared with her.
What was going on today?
All the players' eyes were on Lu Ke, full of confusion and tension.
They had messed with Candice just now because they were familiar with her.
During their last meeting at Candlestick Park, Candice's generosity and free-spirited nature had won everyone's favor. After that, when Lu Ke occasionally talked on the phone with Candice, the other players would deliberately cause a ruckus, and Candice could take a joke, which left a deep impression on them. Even though today was only Candice's second visit to Candlestick Park, their relationship was clearly different.
But Emma Watson? What was going on with her?
Without knowing the situation, facing a stranger, and a celebrity they had seen on the big screen, all the players settled down and didn't dare to act rashly. It was the same when they met Leonardo DiCaprio, and it was the same with Emma Watson today. Hollywood stars were also distant figures to professional athletes.
The locker room was a bit subdued.
Lu Ke looked at Sophie, motioning for her to make the introductions, but he saw that Sophie had quietly looked away, pretending not to have received his signal. She had quietly set Lu Ke up.
Clearly, she had also felt the tension between Lu Ke and Emma. In every previous confrontation, she had been at a disadvantage. Now that she finally had a chance, she decided to use it to force Lu Ke to continue his confrontation with Emma. It was harmless anyway.
Lu Ke gave a helpless smile but wasn't flustered. He started the introductions. "Guys, this is Miss Emma Watson. She's here specifically for the pregame charity event. She will be a guest and will welcome the little angels with us. Miss Watson, these are the San Francisco 49ers players."
Sophie's plan had clearly fallen through. Lu Ke was calm and not at all flustered, and Emma was used to big occasions and handled it with ease.
Standing in front of everyone, Emma's manners were perfect. She curtsied slightly to greet them. "Good afternoon, everyone. It's an honor to be at Candlestick Park and to participate in this event. I hope my sudden visit isn't too rude. Please don't let me disturb your preparations for today's game, or it wouldn't be good to affect the game's excitement."
"No, no, no."
"The San Francisco 49ers have always been a team that I really like. Even though I don't know much about football, I know about all of you." Emma's public relations words made people feel like they were bathed in a spring breeze. The charming smile on her face created a powerful charm that could turn steel into soft butter. "It's really exciting to be here. I sincerely hope that my little fan attitude isn't disturbing anyone."
"No, no, no."
As Emma spoke and everyone listened, and as Emma smiled and everyone waved their hands, the entire locker room was filled with a heartwarming camaraderie, as if it were a fan meet and greet.
Then, Aldon Smith was the first to jump out. He took a few big steps and came in front of Emma, introducing himself. The others also followed, swarming in, but they were afraid that their rash actions would offend her. They carefully kept a distance of two steps from Emma, as if there was a clear warning line on the ground.
The scene was quite spectacular.
Emma also happily covered her mouth and laughed. Her eyes were full of smiles. She was always friendly and cheerful as she shook hands and greeted every player, easily becoming the center of attention in the entire locker room.
Lu Ke, Candice, and Curry were instantly left on the side. The contrast in the atmosphere was a world apart.
Even Sophie and Robin were like servants, standing behind Emma, completely ignored.
Was this the so-called star power?
However, Candice and Curry were big-hearted and were not upset or sad about the different treatment. Instead, they stood next to Lu Ke with smiles on their faces, discussing the flailing Aldon in hushed tones. His antics were truly hilarious.
"A circus," Lu Ke said, getting straight to the point.
Candice's and Curry's eyes instantly lit up. They had been racking their brains, trying to find a word to describe the scene in front of them, but they couldn't find any inspiration. Now that Lu Ke had said it, everything made sense. Both of them nodded in agreement.
Sophie turned her head and saw the three of them happily chatting. She felt a strange bitterness on her tongue, but she couldn't figure out why.
She turned back and saw Roger Goodell's familiar face, followed by an even more familiar top superstar!
Stephen Curry, Candice Swanepoel, Emma Watson, Roger Goodell, and... Leonardo DiCaprio?
