Chapter 877: Exclusive Fan
"We are the Niners! We are warriors! Fight on! Fight on!"
Lu Ke couldn't help but walk forward, shortening the distance with each step. Candice was still jumping energetically, her youthful vitality endlessly flowing. When she saw Lu Ke stop in front of her, she put her hands on the sides of her face like a megaphone and happily shouted, "Bambi, we're all Niners!"
Lu Ke stood there quietly, watching Candice. The lovely girl's forehead was glistening with sweat. Stray strands of hair stuck to her forehead and temples, making her look a little messy. She wasn't the bright and beautiful person she was on stage, but rather the girl next door who was always there for him.
Lu Ke put the box of game cartridges behind his back. He leaned forward slightly, focusing on Candice's eyes. His face was reflected in her clear and bright eyes. The corners of his mouth were turned up, outlining a happy and beautiful curve. The reflection of himself looked a little unfamiliar and a little young.
Candice stopped what she was doing. Her eyes widened slightly, and she looked at Lu Ke in confusion, as if asking, "What's wrong?" But her eyes never left his. She bravely and openly met his gaze, carefully searching for any changes in his expression.
The sunset in the world was burning brightly, magnificent and grand. It was as if even the ocean had been dyed a vibrant orange-red. The dazzling light made the late-night sky take on a beautiful peacock blue, but all of it couldn't compare to the smiling face in front of him.
Then, Lu Ke leaned down.
He kissed her lips, right on target. There was no reason or thought behind it. He just wanted to, so he did.
But the moment his lips touched hers, a cheer rose from deep within his heart. Every cell in his body started to jump with joy, as if they had been waiting for this day for a very long time.
The body is always more honest than the mind.
After a long, long time, until the oxygen started to run out and their lungs felt a burning, stinging sensation, the two of them reluctantly pulled apart.
Candice was a little dazed. She just stood there blankly, not blinking, as if she didn't understand what had happened. She looked at Lu Ke in a daze, and then she saw his eyes, like obsidian, reflecting her slightly red cheeks, revealing a girl's shyness and immaturity. This made Candice subconsciously bite her lower lip, as if she could still feel the lingering warmth and breath on it. Her cheeks turned red again.
"What... what's going on?" Candice asked blankly, as if she hadn't come back to her senses yet.
Lu Ke was also stunned. He had just realized his impulse.
He and Candice were friends, friends for a very long time. Everything seemed simple and pure. But now, a sudden impulse had created a ripple in their peaceful friendship. Could they go back to being friends? Or, did he want to go back to being friends?
Then, Lu Ke caught the faint smile that was starting to form in Candice's eyes. He subconsciously and awkwardly scratched his head. What does that mean? What am I supposed to do now?
A girl's mind is much harder to guess than an opponent's defense.
Candice's smile quietly grew. She took a small step forward, closing the distance between them. Her height had never made her feel "short," but now, as she buried her face in Lu Ke's chest, she felt so tiny, as if her entire body was wrapped in his solid aura.
There was a faint scent of sweat and a light scent of soap, like the woody smell of a dense forest, fresh and natural, with a hint of soil and water. It made her heart beat erratically.
Candice slowly stood on her tiptoes, and her cheek brushed against Lu Ke's. The soft skin and the rough skin created a shiver, and they both flinched.
Then, Candice leaned in and whispered in Lu Ke's ear, "I was thinking, you looked very handsome today. I like your suit."
After she finished speaking, Candice took a small step back, moved her face away, and quickly planted a light kiss on Lu Ke's lips.
Before Candice's heels could even touch the ground, she felt a strong pull on her waist, pulling her back into his tight embrace.
Then, she felt Lu Ke carefully wrap his left arm around her waist while placing the paper box he was holding in his right hand on a nearby high step. Candice was about to turn her head to look, but Lu Ke didn't give her a chance. He closed in on her, bringing all her focus to him.
The gap between them completely disappeared. They were now tightly pressed against each other, feeling each other's bodies. This made Candice's cheeks feel incredibly hot. She only heard a low and dangerous voice in her ear, "Is that all? I don't agree."
The next second, a hot kiss poured down like a storm. Candice felt as if her entire body was submerged in that intense aura and was about to suffocate, but she was more than happy to. She couldn't help but want more. When their tongues tentatively met, everything became wonderful.
After an unknown amount of time, time seemed to have lost its meaning. The two of them slowly pulled apart again and looked into each other's eyes. Their smiles grew high.
After breaking the friendship barrier, there was still a little bit of awkwardness. The two of them laughed happily and awkwardly, hiding their nervousness and embarrassment.
Even so, their eyes still couldn't leave each other. Lu Ke gently put his arm around Candice's waist. "Why did you come here today? Didn't you say you didn't have time? I remember Fashion Week is still going on, isn't it?"
"New York Fashion Week ends tomorrow, but my work ended last night, and I took a red-eye flight to San Francisco," Candice explained in just a few simple sentences.
Lu Ke's eyebrows raised slightly, and he lowered his chin. His slightly twinkling eyes seemed to be saying: Did you come all this way just for me?
Under his intense gaze, Candice's cheeks turned hot again. She raised her chin and said a little louder on purpose, "I came here for Ryan Baldwin. I didn't want to miss the grand sight of the golden ocean."
Lu Ke raised his chin meaningfully. "So, you're a die-hard San Francisco 49ers fan?"
"Of course!" Candice's answer was incredibly firm.
"Then... are you a 49ers fan or my fan?" Lu Ke immediately asked.
Candice's nose wrinkled, and she let out a strange sound. "Ew."
"Ew?" Lu Ke's eyes widened, showing his dissatisfaction.
Candice didn't care at all. She complained, "Such a cheesy line. Are you serious? God, that's not you, and that's not me. Let's just skip this part. I'm already getting goosebumps."
Her look of disgust made Lu Ke laugh happily.
Even though their relationship had progressed, their way of getting along hadn't changed. It was still natural and comfortable. Their consistent playful banter and sarcasm were exactly the way they were most used to with each other.
So, not only did Lu Ke not complain, but he also relaxed more.
"Today's game was so wonderful. I believe Ryan can feel it. As a Niner, there's nothing more relatable than today's golden ocean," Candice said, her words once again returning to today's main topic. "I don't know how much pressure you have to endure on the field, but I know that all the Niners in Candlestick Park were united. This is the most moving thing in the world."
Her bright eyes sparkled with a touching light. Candice smiled and said, "Dear Bambi, you know, you did something very, very great today. It's admirable and respectful."
Lu Ke pursed his lips and pulled down the corners of his mouth. "Everyone says that. I'm going to get a big head."
"You're always so humble. It's okay to be a little cocky once in a while," Candice said seriously. Then she gave a big smile. "Since you're so cocky now, I'm going to continue to praise your outfit. Even in the eyes of fashion people, it's very, very commendable."
Lu Ke's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "I really don't understand you fashion people. I just chose a hoodie and a pair of jeans. There's nothing special about it, is there? Why does everyone feel like it's so special? So, do I know fashion, or do I not know fashion?"
"Let me tell you. The grass-green hoodie and the sky-blue jeans, topped with a navy blue suit jacket, the color combination is commendable. And the casual and formal pairing is also excellent..." As she was talking, Candice noticed that Lu Ke's mind had wandered. His focus was blurred, which made Candice laugh happily.
"That's not fair! Bambi, every time you talk about football, I actively participate. Now that I'm talking about fashion, you're pretending you can't hear me," Candice complained playfully.
Lu Ke made a pained expression and then said with a look of heroic sacrifice, "Alright, come on. I'm ready."
Candice deliberately widened her mouth, as if she was ready to go on and on. She quietly watched Lu Ke's face twist. He was already in pain before she even started to speak, which made Candice want to laugh happily, but she held it in. The smile in her eyes was welling up, and she just watched Lu Ke quietly.
Lu Ke had closed his eyes. He waited and waited, but he still didn't hear Candice's words. Just as he was about to secretly open his eyes and check the situation, he felt a faint scent of jasmine and heard a low voice in his ear, with a hint of lazy sensuality.
"Bambi, I'm your exclusive fan. And, happy birthday."
After she finished speaking, the scent immediately dissipated. Before he could hold on to her, she had already retreated.
