Cherreads

Chapter 84 - Chap 84 : Preparation

Just a little more, and everyone's struggle will finally end, and we can rest!

I… am chasing rest.

I forced my body to work even harder; my arm muscles might actually start growing.

——

And… after arranging the chairs that would be used, my task was finally done.

"Hah…" I said, leaning against the wall.

I couldn't take it anymore if I were told to help them again.

I could feel… my legs throbbing, like my heartbeat. Even though those were my legs, not my heart.

My head was a little dizzy too, but as for dizziness, that's a small matter for me.

What about the others?

…Wow, they also looked exhausted and helpless.

Rather than calling this a wedding venue, it's more like a torture chamber for workers.

Some maids and servants were leaning against the wall like me, others were already lying flat on the floor.

But no one tried to chase us away—looks like… we all had the same thought this time, huh?

——

I stood up, intending to go to the kitchen and get some water.

Like hell I wouldn't drink something after all that exhausting work.

But before I could leave the hall, Vern-san approached me.

Even though I had already opened the door and one of my feet was outside. Why didn't he come earlier if he had something to say?

Just to get a glass of water, yet it's already as troublesome as trying to go abroad.

"What now…" I said weakly.

Vern-san seemed a little surprised by my reaction—whatever, I didn't care anymore.

"Please help the princess… actually, she's having a bit of trouble putting on her wedding dress," he said.

Wait, wait, this can't be right. A man like me is being asked to help a girl put on her wedding dress?

Does he not see me as a man?

"Isn't that dress the same as any other kind of dress?" I asked.

The way you wear it should be similar to any normal gown, right? So what's the difficult part?

"The princess herself said… she needs someone else's help to wear it," Vern-san replied.

Then, I noticed something odd about what was happening to me.

I turned around and looked at Vern-san.

"Why don't you—" my words stopped immediately when I saw the condition of his hand.

Crap, I forgot about his current situation…

"What? You expect me to help the princess with just one hand? Are you insane?" Vern-san asked, sounding a bit irritated.

"There are still plenty of maids around here who could help, right?"

"Why me?!" I protested.

I had, in fact, been asked before to help put on Rosa-chan's daily clothes.

And that was back when I still looked like a girl.

If I did that again with how I look now… forget it, I can't even begin to explain that.

Besides… most of the servants and maids here are women, right? So, why not ask one of them instead?

Instead, he asks me. Has he lost the ability to think clearly?

"The princess herself said that she wanted your help," he replied.

"Huh?" I answered, still confused and shocked by what he said.

Rosa-chan herself asked me to help her?

Seriously? Did I hear that right? It feels like I'm still dreaming.

Because something like this could never happen in my real life. Sure, this is just a game, but it feels way too real and serious.

I honestly can't tell anymore which world is real and which one's fake.

Vern-san tried to push my body with his right hand, as if forcing me to go help Rosa-chan.

"Just accept it already!" Vern-san said.

That push sent my whole body outside the hall. And when I tried to turn back, the hall door had already closed behind me.

Even if it wasn't locked, if I tried to force my way back in now, things would probably just get worse.

And so, I had no other choice but to help Rosa-chan—reluctantly.

——

On my way to her room, my mind was filled with thoughts that were a bit… ehmm, ehmm, you know.

Well, anyone would know what a guy would think about in this kind of situation, right?

I can't deny it—it's one of those instincts most men have.

And I'm one of them. Especially since I'm at an age where… anything could happen.

Those kinds of possibilities are always floating around in my head.

Well, hopefully when I get to her room, she'll only ask me to help zip up her dress.

Wait, do wedding dresses even have zippers? I feel like they don't.

Crap, if she asks me to help her put on the entire wedding dress from the start, this could be bad.

Bad for my mental state—and even worse for my eyes. Even though she's still young, Rosa-chan is still a girl, you know.

——

When I reached her door, I froze for a moment, feeling nervous.

I didn't immediately open the door and walk in. Instead, I took a deep breath to calm my nerves.

Yosh… time to go in!

Ah, knock first.

——

When I entered, I saw Rosa-chan standing in front of a large mirror.

My hopes came true—she was already wearing her wedding dress. So… why did she call me here?

There didn't seem to be anything left for me to help with.

I walked closer to Rosa-chan to take a better look.

She looked so beautiful and cute—the white dress seemed like a perfect complement to her natural beauty.

Her fair skin was illuminated by the moonlight streaming through the window.

Just by wearing that dress, she already looked so mature. Earlier this afternoon, she still looked like an innocent young girl.

But now, she truly looked like a woman.

Yeah, I admit it… that dress really suits her. The white color feels like it symbolizes her personality.

Her face looked more beautiful than usual—maybe she was wearing some makeup. (Though, in this world, I don't know what it's called.)

"Yukito-san, I'm having trouble putting on these accessories," she said, her face showing some difficulty.

"Isn't the dress already done?" I asked.

Right? She's already wearing the wedding gown, so what accessories is she talking about?

Her right hand pointed toward the bed where she usually slept, so of course, I shifted my focus there.

On the bed, I saw several accessories that brides usually wear.

There was a wedding veil, long enough to reach her waist.

Then, a pair of white shoes, slightly taller than normal shoes.

Beside them was a pair of earrings with a very elegant design.

And lastly, there was a bouquet of purple roses.

Now that I think about it, there really are purple roses in front of her room.

I couldn't guess why she chose to prepare purple roses.

After all, most people would choose red roses or jasmine flowers for occasions like this.

But Rosa-chan chose a bouquet of purple roses instead. Well, it's not really a problem for me.

Ah, I get it now. Why Vern-san said that Rosa-chan needed my help.

Maybe Rosa-chan really can't put on these accessories by herself.

And since I'm a guy, I can't say whether that's easy or not—because it's something that's never crossed my mind before.

Wearing accessories like those… especially ones that only girls usually wear.
