Chapter 4 - 4

Naruto's bitter persuasion did not receive any gratitude. Instead, it frightened the nanny so badly that her face turned pale. She opened the door and fled, leaving a stream of urine behind her.

Looking at the nanny fleeing in panic, Naruto reluctantly jumped down from the chair. He then walked over to the door and closed it.

For the past three years, he had been trying to control his emotions. Ever since coming into this world, his emotions had become extremely difficult to control.

In his previous life, he wasn't exactly a lover of peace, but he was still a decent citizen with normal morals and had never even gotten into a fight.

However, after arriving in the Naruto world, he discovered that his temper had become extremely hot. When he killed someone for the first time, the murderous intent he felt had been terrifying—even in retrospect.

He guessed that this might be related to his Saiyan bloodline. It was powerful, but it also seemed to have very obvious side effects. If he wasn't careful, he could easily be consumed by anger and lose his mind.

Because of this, he had always tried to control his emotions, avoided arguing with others whenever possible, and tried not to cause irreversible consequences because of his anger.

Thinking of this, Naruto cleaned up the house before heading toward the Hokage Building.

Although the Hokage was one of the two most powerful people in the Land of Fire, he was still relatively close to the people of Konoha. Even ordinary villagers could meet with him as long as they had his permission.

Naruto was guided into the Hokage's office.

Inside, he saw Sarutobi Hiruzen put down the documents in his hands and look at him with a smile.

"Little Naruto, is there something you need from me?"

Naruto also smiled.

"Today is the day my nanny is supposed to be replaced. I'd like to ask you to cancel the arrangement. I can live by myself from now on!"

Sarutobi Hiruzen frowned and asked seriously, "Did something happen?"

Hiruzen had been very attentive when it came to finding nannies for Naruto.

Naruto had already killed two nannies in three years, and word of it had spread throughout Konoha. Countless people had gone to the Hokage's office to report the situation and had even proposed executing Naruto.

Originally, Hiruzen had only used Naruto as a shield to conceal the fact that Konoha had lost the Nine-Tails.

Therefore, he knew better than anyone that Naruto wasn't the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox at all. He wasn't even a Nine-Tails Jinchūriki. He was simply an ordinary child.

Yet this ordinary child could kill adults as easily as killing a fly.

Hiruzen had also suspected Naruto's identity, wondering whether Minato had used some special method to hide the Nine-Tails inside Naruto's body.

Because of this, he had personally brought Naruto to his home and carefully examined him more than a dozen times.

In the end, he had finally confirmed that Naruto was an ordinary child and definitely wasn't a Nine-Tails Jinchūriki.

But although Hiruzen knew the truth about Naruto's identity, the villagers of Konoha didn't.

There was no way he could explain the truth to them. If he did, Konoha's troubles would only become even greater.

Now Naruto had suddenly come to him and said that he wanted to live alone.

Hiruzen immediately wondered whether Naruto had killed another nanny.

Seeing his nervous expression, Naruto explained with a smile.

"It's not what you think, Hokage-sama. This aunt is actually very nice. I simply want to live by myself. It's not because I'm dissatisfied with her."

When Sarutobi Hiruzen heard this, his brows knitted together.

He picked up the pipe on his desk, took a puff, and sighed.

"Since that's the case, then forget it. It's good that you want to live independently. I'll speak with the new nanny and tell her she doesn't need to come."

Naruto thanked him and turned to leave.

Before he could go, Hiruzen said a few more things to him, but Naruto didn't pay much attention. The words went in one ear and out the other.

After Naruto left, silence descended over the Hokage's office.

Sarutobi Hiruzen picked up a document from his desk.

It was a petition signed by Konoha's villagers demanding that Naruto Uzumaki be executed.

At this point, Naruto was hated by the villagers like a rat crossing the street. In fact, their hatred toward him was even greater than their hatred toward the Naruto of the original timeline.

The original Naruto had been the type of person who would smile even when angry. Aside from secretly cursing him behind his back, the villagers rarely had any direct interaction with him.

But this Naruto had a violent temper and would strike without saying a word.

Two Konoha villagers had already died at his hands.

If the rumors about the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox had only made everyone somewhat suspicious, then the deaths of those two people were undeniable evidence in the villagers' eyes.

Even the nanny responsible for taking care of Naruto could be killed at any moment.

At this point, even if someone told the villagers that Naruto wasn't the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox, nobody would believe it.

Although those two people had wanted to kill Naruto and had ultimately been killed by him, the villagers of Konoha didn't care about that.

All they knew was that the Demon Fox had killed people.

The Demon Fox was extremely dangerous.

The Demon Fox had to be executed!

Facing this overwhelming public pressure, even Sarutobi Hiruzen could no longer suppress it.

Originally, he was a former Hokage who had been restored to the position. His prestige was already far weaker than it had been before.

If he stood against the villagers over this matter, his position as Hokage would be in jeopardy.

However, executing Naruto was even more impossible.

Not to mention that Naruto was the son of the Fourth Hokage, Namikaze Minato. Even the identity of a Nine-Tails Jinchūriki—albeit a false one—was enough to give Naruto a death-free pass.

After thinking for a long time, Hiruzen looked toward the empty office and said:

"Call Danzo over."

A voice came from outside.

"Understood, Hokage-sama!"

A moment later, there was a whooshing sound.

Not long afterward, Shimura Danzō, covered in bandages and wearing a gloomy expression, opened the door and walked inside.

"Hiruzen, what do you want with me? I'm very busy."

Seeing Danzō arrive, Sarutobi Hiruzen didn't bother with small talk.

"You're familiar with Naruto Uzumaki, aren't you?"

Danzō's eyes lit up when he heard this.

Of course he had heard of Minato's son—the false Nine-Tails Jinchūriki.

Naruto was a notorious figure in Konoha. The reason Konoha had been able to develop peacefully over the past few years was largely because this little brat had been drawing everyone's attention.

How could Danzō not know about him?

The two had been partners for decades, so Shimura Danzō instantly understood what Sarutobi Hiruzen was thinking.

"You want that brat to join Root?"

Sarutobi took a puff from his pipe and didn't answer.

But his silence made the answer obvious.

Danzō revealed a sinister smile.

"Don't worry, Hiruzen. I'll definitely train him into the strongest weapon. In the future, he'll become an excellent member of Root and protect Konoha from the shadows."

Danzō was extremely pleased.

In fact, he had already taken an interest in Naruto, but he hadn't understood Hiruzen's attitude toward the boy, so he hadn't made a move.

A child who was not even three years old, who struck ruthlessly and possessed an almost numb disregard for killing, was extremely suitable for joining Root.

Moreover, Naruto was supposedly a Nine-Tails Jinchūriki. Danzō wouldn't even have to worry about the Nine-Tails escaping his control.

At the same time, once Naruto joined Root, he would temporarily disappear from everyone's sight.

It could be said that Naruto joining Root was beneficial in every way.

After reaching an agreement, Danzō turned around and left.

He didn't have much time to waste chatting with Hiruzen. Yunyin had been unusually active recently, and he still had plenty of work to deal with.

Just as he was about to leave the Hokage's office, he heard Sarutobi Hiruzen's voice behind him.

"Naruto's status is special. Don't be too harsh with him. Treat him well."

Danzō, who hadn't yet walked out of the office, nearly spat out his dentures.

That old man was truly hypocritical to the extreme!

He was the one who had helped create the false story that Naruto was a Nine-Tails Jinchūriki.

Now he was the one sending the boy to Root.

In the end, Danzō would do all the dirty work while Hiruzen played the good guy.

It disgusted him.

However, Hiruzen was still the Hokage.

That position had suppressed Danzō for his entire life.

In the end, he could only helplessly reply:

"Got it."

After returning to Root, Danzō immediately summoned his subordinates and prepared to send someone to bring Naruto Uzumaki in.

Unexpectedly, at that moment, a figure suddenly appeared before him.

The man dropped to one knee and respectfully said:

"Lord Danzō, the Kumogakure shinobi stationed along the northeastern defense line of the Land of Fire have been acting strangely."

Danzō looked at the Root intelligence operative kneeling before him and asked expressionlessly:

"Have you investigated the specific reason?"

The Root ninja replied:

"It seems Kumogakure detected the chakra of the Nine-Tails on a small island in the northern part of the ninja world."

Danzō's pupils contracted.

He immediately asked:

"What happened? Don't waste time. Explain everything to me!"

The Root ninja didn't dare hide anything and quickly explained the situation.

Not long ago, on an uninhabited desert island in the northern part of the ninja world, a Kumogakure shinobi who had been carrying out a mission nearby had detected the chakra signature of the Nine-Tails.

He immediately brought the information back to Kumogakure.

After analyzing the situation, Kumogakure's intelligence department concluded that this could be a sign that the tailed beast had died and was preparing to resurrect.

There had been cases of tailed beasts dying in the ninja world before.

When a Jinchūriki died, the tailed beast inside their body could also die with them.

However, the death of a tailed beast was only temporary.

Perhaps a year later, or perhaps several years later, the tailed beast would eventually resurrect somewhere in the ninja world.

The major hidden villages had never discovered the exact reason behind a tailed beast's resurrection.

However, they did know that strange phenomena could occur before a tailed beast was resurrected.

This time, the chakra of the Nine-Tails had appeared on a desert island in the northern part of the ninja world.

The Kumogakure shinobi suspected that the Nine-Tails had died.

Because of this, Kumogakure had begun moving troops toward the border of the Land of Fire.

They wanted to test Konoha's reaction and determine what attitude the village would take.

After understanding the entire situation, Danzō tapped his cane against the floor.

He then ordered the Root ninja:

"Immediately mobilize every Root shinobi we can spare. Send them to gather intelligence on that desert island in the northern part of the ninja world. If you find any clues regarding the Nine-Tails, report them to the village immediately."

Danzō was extremely excited.

The appearance of the Nine-Tails meant that Hiruzen's previous assumption had been wrong.

The Nine-Tails hadn't been sealed away by Minato.

It had been killed!

A sinister expression appeared on Danzō's face.

This time, he would definitely obtain the Nine-Tails.

And with the Nine-Tails in his possession, he would use its power to ascend to the position of Hokage.

As for Naruto Uzumaki, Danzō had already thrown the boy out of his mind.

A false Nine-Tails Jinchūriki was nothing compared with the real Nine-Tails.

He no longer had any interest in dealing with Naruto.

All his attention was now focused on capturing the Nine-Tails.

The entire Root quietly mobilized.

Danzō left Konoha and headed straight toward the northern part of the Land of Fire.
