Observer POV:
"Hello Scott Lang, I don't normally get many Visitors around here. How interesting, would you mind articulating what you mean by shrinking… a lot?" Tenno asked, as he analyzed the person in front of him, who, through the lack of gravity, began to float before him.
"Well, you know, as I said, I was fighting this guy, and we both have these suits with which we can shrink ourselves to the size of ants, and he was about to win and kill my daughter, so I deactivated the regulator. From what Hank said, when you deactivate the regulator, you shrink until you can't shrink anymore and land in a place he called the quantum realm, but now, after all that shrinking, I'm in a spaceship…"
"The quantum realm? No, this place is called the Void." Tenno stopped him in his tracks, his mind trying to catch up with the rambling this man was spouting.
"Ah, good, I'm not in the quantum realm, so that means I can get out of here, right?" He asked, looking up at Tenno hopefully, now floating upside down.
"No," Tenno said with a straight face as he let the last gun vanish and returned to his chair, having decided that Scott was no immediate danger.
"What do you mean by No? I need to get back to my daughter as soon as possible. You have to help me get out of here, NOW!!!"
"Calm down, just so you know, I'm also stuck here and searching for a way out, so get your shit together and calm down."
Instead of calming down, Scott did the opposite and started pressing the buttons on his suit over and over again.
"This has to work, this has to work, I'm going home, sweetie, daddy will be there in a second," he thought while floating about inside the transference room.
"I've got the slight feeling that won't work," Tenno thought, watching him with amusement. It has been a long time since he had someone aboard he could talk to, so he really savored the moment, though at Scott's expense.
After some time, he finally seemed to calm down, and his gaze wandered over to Tenno. "You're a wizard, right? Can't you just hex me back or something? Please, I really need to get back."
Tenno looked him in the eyes, his slight amusement vanishing as he heard his pleading, "Scott, as I said, I'm also trapped here, just as you are. I can't help you. Be happy that I let you stay here aboard my ship, or else you would float around in the big nothingness we have around us."
At that mention, Scott looked around till he found the hole, gulping once as he witnessed the black starless emptiness that was outside of the ship.
His shoulders slumped down, as all hope seemed to leave his body. "I'm really stuck here, ain't I?" he asked.
Tenno nodded once, which made Scott's head slump, while he floated around the room.
Tenno analyzed him, in particular, the armor he wore, which was seemingly the way he got here in the first place.
"Why don't you tell me everything you know about what happened, and then I will give that armor of yours a good look. Maybe there is a way out of this for both of us, hidden somewhere in your memories."
Scott's eyes lit up as he thought about the idea, and a spark of hope began to form inside him before he began to talk.
Scott talked for hours, at least for Tenno, it felt like it, as he had no way to actually measure time. He had to stop Scott multiple times within his monologue, as he was heading off-topic quite a lot. Seemingly a trade he had picked up from one of his friends, who, unbelievably so, was said to be even worse than him in that regard.
He told him about his life in Prison, how he met his friends there, and why he got there in the first place.
About the problems of getting a job and how he was not allowed to visit his daughter on her birthday, which then led him to get involved in a heist he would never have agreed to, a statement Tenno doubted deeply.
He told him how he had only found the suit in the Save, about his first time wearing the thing, and how he fell through the whole building and lived through what he described as literal hell.
He told him how he wanted to break into the house again and bring back the suit, but got caught by the cops in the process, a fact which made Tenno fall into a fit of laughter for minutes on end.
After finally getting Scott to stop sulking, he continued his story with his escape from Prison and how he flew on an ant for the first time. Even though he passed out and fell from said ride. Tenno had to bite his hand to stop an upcoming fit of laughter, while Scott gave him the stink eye and continued.
Next was the Story of how he woke up in Hank Pyms house, and got introduced to him and his daughter. That was when Tenno listened up, because next came the story, Hank Pym told Scott about the Pym particles and their history, as well as the reason Scott was there in the first place.
The way these particles could shorten the distance between atoms was an incredible feat of engineering and could definitely help Tenno with his problems if he somehow got his hands on them.
But now wasn't the time to think about any possible options of escape, as Scott already continued with his story about how Darren Cross supposedly wanted to revolutionize Modern Warfare with the particles, and how they wanted to stop him from reaching that goal.
After agreeing to the plan, he underwent a brief training session, during which he learned to use the suit and communicate with ants, making them do his bidding.
Eventually, they reached the point in Scott's story where he unintentionally broke into the Avengers facility to steal one of Tony's inventions, a feat that made Tenno smile with schadenfreude, thinking about Y
Tony's face as Sam explained what happened to him.
After the plan changed because Darren was over at Pyms house and got suspicious, they had to make the team bigger, and he got his friends in on the heist.
The heist in itself wasn't that interesting, just the fact that they somehow managed to shrink bombs and place them on strategic locations, while taking out the servers with shrunken-down EMPs.
The fact that the whole plan was seen through and Scott was trapped, while Hank and Hope were held at gunpoint, made the story even less intriguing.
At least until the Point where Scott had the idea to enlarge the glass which trapped him, leading to it exploding in the process. Scott even showed him the last throwing star that was left from the fight, which he used for said purpose. Very interesting tech that Tenno immediately began analyzing.
Scott then told him how it all escalated into Hank getting shot and Darren escaping to the rooftop. How he chased him down to the helicopter, and his ride, called Ant-thonie, was shot, a fact which nearly made the man cry.
After a short interlude, and a bunch of suppressed manly tears, he continued with how he got into the copter and fought with the whole security team, till he was swatted across the cockpit, nearly falling out of the door.
Finally, he got back into the copter, but there he had to face Darren in his new Yellowjacket Suit, which could not only shrink but also fly and shoot lasers.
Tenno thought about all the possibilities this tech allowed, what good for humanity it could do, or harm in the wrong hands, while also considering what it would accomplish in his hands.
The fight Scott began narrating consecutively was spectacular. It ended with Darren getting swatted into a fly trap, while Scott got tased by the police and arrested as he tried to explain the situation, prompting Tenno to swat his face at the stupidity of that action.
Scott looked down in shame, but continued, seemingly giving himself the fault for what followed in the Story.
Darren had somehow survived the electroshock from the flytrap and taken Scott's daughter as a Hostage. Luckily, the cop who arrested him was called to the location, and he could escape while he was left alone in the car.
Shortly after, they fought inside his daughter's room till they reached a point where Darren was about to kill Scott's daughter, and he knew no other way than to deactivate his regulator and shrink small enough to destroy the Yellowjacket suit, leading to the predicament he had now found himself in.
Tenno looked at Scott, thinking about the new intel he had gathered through this conversation, while he twirled the enlargement shuriken between his fingers,
„Thanks, Scott, that was a very interesting story, and I've come to a few conclusions, based on the new Intell you've so thoroughly provided,"
Scott looked up, his eyes filled with a mix of worry and cautious hope, as he spoke up, "Thanks, but would you also be so kind as to share these conclusions you've come to? Or else I'm going to explode from tension."
Tenno smiled, it had really been quite some time since he enjoyed a conversation as much as he did now.
"Well, first off, there is the fact that we are in the Void. It could be that the Void and the Quantum realm are just different names for the same place, but I doubt that."
Meanwhile Scott had somehow sat down on the ground and held up his hand, waiting for Tenno to let him speak.
"You don't need to raise your hand, Scott," Tenno said in amusement.
"Sorry, I just have one question. What is the Void? How am I here, and how are you so sure that it's not the same place as the Quantum realm?" He asked, giving Tenno a small smile.
"That is a very good singular question," Tenno said in amusement.
"But before we tackle all of that, let me ask you a question first. How much do you know about the Philosophy of Time and the Concretist view of possible Worlds?"
Scott's mouth hung wide open, his mind seemingly swept clean of thoughts before he answered, "I've got the basics down, but let's just pretend I didn't. Where would we start?"
Tenno grinned slightly, closed his eyes, and concentrated, recalling the teachings from his Classes on the Zariman. "Where I come from, for a long time, Presentism was the generally accepted theory of Time. It said that there is only the present, while the past and the future don't exist."
Scott's eyes widened, "What do you mean by a long time. Is that not true?" He asked with the awe and excitement of a preschooler.
"Please, no interruptions," Tenno scolded Scott, before he continued his explanation.
"That was until we came across the Void, and our perspective of Time slowly began to change. A famous scientist named Albrecht Entrati was the first to research it, laying the groundwork for what we know about the Void today. He theorized that the Void could help his civilization enter a new era of space travel and interstellar colonization. After many years of research and numerous failures, he eventually managed to create a device capable of channeling the energy found within the Void into our Reality and put it to use."
Tenno looked up at Scott, taking a break from his story, and found him in a state of total confusion. Tenno remembered how he and his classmates made the same faces the first time they were introduced to the subject and could not help but smile.
