The Slytherins of course took exception to that. I had to weave the pies through the air deftly as a hail of spells chased them in an attempt to waste my efforts. This was a standard Slytherin mindset of "even if I didn't want it I also don't want you to have it either". Yes they were on the whole that petty or selfish. Considering they were all either pureblood or at the very least halfblooded(referring to having a pureblood parent and one who wasn't) this mindset was one they were taught from birth and thus not strange at all.-
House solidarity was strong though as my efforts were likewise covered by my fellow housemates. Specifically the upper years since my peers from this year hadn't really mastered the spells needed to make an attempt at jumping in. Like a unspoken set of rules were agreed on though when the pies did reach over our table the "war" stopped with Slytherins loss. A fact that left them with unhappy expressions.
"You sure that was a good idea mate? Those snakes look like they want to flay you alive." Terry asked with a worried expression.
I chuckled "That's because they lost. Competition is in their nature and losing leaves them bitter. They'll only try and find some way to win against us after this, probably in points if I had to guess. Maybe some pranks as well if they are feeling especially frisky." I said unbothered by the idea.
"He's right. It's been this way since forever." an upper year said with a grin as he chewed on a slice of pizza.
"And you aren't worried? Wait no of course you wouldn't be since you are way ahead of the rest of us." Terry said with a helpless sigh.
"And now you see it clearly. So long as none of the upper years get involved I can handle anyone in our year." I said confidently.
The rest of dinner was nice and quiet and we headed to the common room afterwards. I took a trip to the baths and tempered my body till a dull ache set in and went to bed after washing off the thin coating of stinky sweat I'd put out. My habit of refining my body with electricity was starting to show results already as the baby fat on my body was nearly gone and a few slight malformations from improper diet were clearing up as well.-
I wasn't gaining any muscle definition yet but I could easily feel my strength increase. The easiest explanation I could give of this strange phenomena was that the muscles I had normally were changing into something stronger without gaining volume so it wasn't possible to notice at a glance. I attributed this to the strangeness of the physiques in the One piece world and chose to shrug before calling it a day.-
The next morning I got up, freshened up and read my potions book while I waited for Terry and Mike to get up. I'd already roughly figured out that Terry was the early riser of the two with Mike preferring to sleep in slightly more. I was almost done with the book when two things happened almost simultaneously. The first was that Terry showed up and the second was that my [multitasking] skill had reached level two and I gained a third thought stream. I had to blink away my confusion at the latter of these things. It felt odd to have three different trains of thought at the same time but in truth it was really more like two since one was constantly using observation haki.-
I quickly adapted to this strange state of mind and even chatted with Terry without having to stop my work with the potions book.
"I don't know how you can split your attention like this so easily." he complained soon after.
I grinned "Sounds like a skill issue." I said with a snicker.
"Yes yes, we are all lesser creatures than your highness." he said dramatically as he rolled his eyes.
"So long as we're clear about that." I said feigning snobbishness.
Mike got up at this point and once we had our stuff for the day we set off for breakfast. Dumbledore had added crepes to the menu today and I was all for it as I had to have eaten like five of the things along with four apples, two pears, a banana and twelve pancakes with syrup. Finally it was time for a class I had been practicing for on and off so long as a professor was nearby, transfiguration. Nobody was late to class and the Mcgonagall was watching the door closely to make sure of it.-
"As per our last three classes you are to practice turning a matchstick into a needle. The more detailed the transfiguration the better. Place your homework on my desk and collect your matchsticks before you begin." she said in a way that said she wasn't negotiating.
I obviously had no homework to turn in so I merely wordlessly collected my thick matchstick and took a seat between Terry and Mike.
"Verto." I said pointing my wand at the simple wood match while firmly imagining a beautiful needle.
The wood smoothed and turned a shining gold with the end gaining a mobius strip eye and the body a hard to see but leaved vine pattern.
"Let me see that." Mcgonagall said as she retrieved the needle to examine closely.
It was obvious she was specifically waiting to see how I did with how fast she moved to snatch it up but I didn't say anything.
