Chapter 130 - Ritualism

I casually made my way to the seventh floor and into the ROR with it set for a ritual. This version of the room was dimly lit and had a predrawn circle on the ground. There were candles, magic chalk and other standard issue ritual favors provided by the room on shelves and even a few bookshelves with a scant few tomes on them. It wasn't much which made sense given that most of the tomes on the subject had been put in the forbidden section of the library and the room can't make copies of those in that case.-

That was fine though as I had my own copy of the tome that had the ritual. Thankfully it didn't require any special circumstances like a full moon or a cloudless day or some other weird requirement. I took some chalk from the shelf and began to VERY carefully draw out the symbols and shapes within the provided circle on the floor. The final product was a massive circle with two smaller circles within it and various runes and symbolic drawings. The first of the smaller circles got my wand as that was the northern circle and thus the recipient circle.-

I then started to stack the vast amount of gorey bits on the southern circle. I had to use magic to stack it all without it falling over but I eventually got it in place. I held my hand in front of me as I channeled my magic and recited the ritual incantation.

"Converte et nova potentia fi!"

The ritual circle began to glow in a bright blue light and a strange sort of film of energy flowed over the stacked offering before shrinking as threads of bright white energy rose from the offering circle like a twined rope and flowed across the air before sinking into my wand. -

This process lasted until the offerings were gone which took twenty minutes in total. Once the ritual was over the offerings had vanished and my wand had slightly changed in appearance. The already rich yellow amber colored wood with lightning burns was now a slightly dark almost caramel color with a shiny gem like luster. I felt the difference the moment I had the wand in my hand. It was like the wand was instantly reacting to my thoughts and intent as without even speaking the effect of the water summoning charm erupted like a fire hose from it's tip.-

I grinned at this and began cleaning up the ritual circle before leaving the room. I was in a good mood and decided to check on the Quidditch match in progress to see how it was going. Expanding my haki out I quickly covered the pitch and got a look at the situation.

'Oh? Looks like i'm just in time for the main show.' I thought as I saw Harry getting bucked around by his obviously cursed broom while Quirelmort and Snape were magically wrestling to either keep the curse going or stop it respectively.

Hermione had already spotted Snape mumbling his counter curse and was rushing over to stop him. I could have stepped in but honestly I didn't think it necessary. Even if somehow Harry did get dropped onto the ground from that high up unless he landed on his head or neck he'd survive. It was a little known fact but Quidditch turf is enchanted to mute impacts. The worst you could experience is a broken bone or two unless said bones were your head or neck, those were just straight up death.-

As expected however Hermione managed to set Snape ever so slightly on fire which also interrupted Quirelmort since it broke his eye contact. Harry went on a bit after that to catch the snitch in a rather unconventional way via his mouth. Slytherins captain tried to argue that it didn't count but Madam Hooch specifically pointed out that the rules of the game don't specify how the snitch must be caught, only that it is. This gave Gryffindor both a point lead and ended the game since that was the rule. As the team with the most points naturally Gryffindor won the match.-

Interestingly I did actually know of a precedent where the winning side of a game wasn't the one that caught the snitch. It was actually the other team because they had such a massive point lead that the one fifty point worth of the snitch wasn't enough to push the losing team to victory. Anyways the fun was over and people would be returning shortly to the castle. This made things easy for me as I simply went back to the common room and got to reading my two books at once.-

Terry and Mike came back talking about the game excitedly but I barely paid it any attention. Time passed quietly after that with classes coming and going without much to be said for them. Quirelmort had been pressing me to make an attempt at dark magic but I simply feigned inability to summon up the malice needed for the spells. It clearly frustrated the noseless bastard on the back of the head but he couldn't exactly force those sort of emotions out of me without crossing a line that would put him at serious risk. The best part is that he couldn't honestly say I was lying as my usual interactions with even people that annoyed me were basically total indifference.-

The usual anger, disdain or hate he could work with but apathy? Nothing for that without crossing a dangerous line. Finally the second week of the month rolled around and I got one more chance to get a new customer.
