Not exactly like Zanarkand but the idea was not terribly different. Rather than an entire city state filled with people though I wanted to summon an island. Large enough that you could walk from one side to the other in a few hours but that was it. In fact my inspiration for this came from the arks that Rockwell and others were on. It took a while to be revealed but those were actually fully enclosed simulated habitats inside forcefields. My idea would be similar in that I'd summon that landmass and it's environment with it's edges looping on themselves for full containment.-
To pull this off though I needed an absolute solid understanding over every aspect of such a place. As anyone familiar with nature could tell you get one thing wrong and the entire ecosystem could collapse. In a massive healthy ecosystem this might take a long time or even eventually have everything adapt to the mistake and thus return to a balance of sorts. In a small simulated ecosystem however a single mistake might kill it off entirely. With this understanding I began to look at already existing examples of islands, especially those of the freshwater variety.-
I had to look at muggle studies rather than magical ones because as it turns out most magical ecology studies put a LOT on magic. Most of them flat out talked about which spells worked best to keep things orderly. This was unacceptable for me because I wanted the summoned place to be self sufficient. Muggle studies on the subject however were considerably more helpful as they talked about plant variety, soil quality, populations and food chains in great detail. Small scientific nuggets of knowledge that made artificially producing a habitat possible.-
I earned some confused looks from my classmates as I stayed after class on the days we had herbology to discuss the matter with professor Sprout. While she was also very magic minded about the subject she was easily able to theorize what sort of magical plants would be best in such a place. Gillyweed for example would be a must for the freshwaters surrounding the island as not only was it a key dietary feature in many water born magical species but also served as a foundational plant species in keeping water pure and clean.-
I didn't get far into this project before the search function of my system was ready for use again.
{Search function activated.... searching.... searching.... searching.... Target locked. Initiating trade window with target: Gregory Johnson , World : Earth}
This made me frown as there was no suffix title after Earth. I had a feeling I rolled a normal variant of Earth finally. When the screen showed me the person at the other end of the contact I learned nothing about the world. It was a young man with short messy blonde hair and average features sitting in what appeared to be a college dorm mid bite of cup noodles. -
He coughed as he briefly choked on the noodles "The fuck is this supposed to be!?" he cursed eventually as he blinked rapidly to test if he was hallucinating
"Good evening. I am Alexander Drake, multiversal merchant at your service." I said with a slight bow.
"Like the spider verse?" he asked with eyes so wide I was amazed they didn't fall out.
"Yes, that is a fairly good example of the multiverse though rather focused on a single concept. The real multiverse is far more expansive." I said calmly.
"And you can just move through it freely?" he asked still awed.
"No, I can randomly open windows through the multiverse, like this. These windows allow me to trade across worlds. Through a trade I can descend onto a world temporarily however." I explained calmly.
"That's so fucking cool!" he said excitedly.
"It's certainly interesting. I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way but can you describe your world's setting? The year, anything extraordinary like magic or cybernetics or alien invasions, that sort of thing. Your world is simply listed as "Earth" which for rather obvious reasons does not tell me anything really." I said with a helpless look.
"Uh, well we have comic books and stories and stuff about crazy things like that but as far as I know we don't actually have any of that?" he said unsure.
"Hmm, your world could be a offshoot of the plain verse Earth." I muttered rubbing my chin thoughtfully but explaining what that meant after seeing his expression. "It just means that your world is one without extraordinary elements or grand historical deviations." I said casually.
"Boring you mean." he said flatly.
"In a manner of speaking I suppose. To you and perhaps me it might be but I know there are people in worlds so nightmarish that your world would seem a paradise." I said seriously.
"Like AOT or Berzerk?" he asked and I nodded.
"I happen to have business dealing with Guts actually, rough fellow but honest enough given his life." I said honestly.
"Before or after the eclipse?" he asked curiously.
"After, shortly after he got the armor." I said calmly and wasn't surprised when he winced.
"So what about you then? What's your world like?" he asked curiously.
"Do you have Harry Potter in your world?" I asked calmly.
"Yeah? Wait you're kidding!" he exclaimed.
"Seems you figured it out. Yes I am operating out of an offshoot of that world. Potter is a classmate of mine, we are in different houses though. Too much trouble dealing with his story anything more than minorly." I said honestly.
