Chapter 186 - Fayth

"So like is Dumbledore a manipulative evil guy or not?" he asked eventually after taking a moment to process what I said.

I shrugged "I wouldn't call my version evil but he's a little manipulative. Genuinely my own version of the old goat is a pretty good guy as far as I can see but he's subtly messing with things like the theories suggest." I said with a shrug.

"So a control freak with good intentions." he said and I chuckled.

"Control freak might be a tad too far but at least as far is Potter is concerned he's on the more controlling side of things." I said calmly.

"So what now?" he asked.

"Well that's the question isn't it? Your world is not really one with much profit for me honestly. I mean sure there's the information on other worlds you probably have at your fingertips but otherwise? It's got nothing special. At best I suppose I could use it to dump people from the more apocalyptical worlds I contact but I very much doubt that would go well." I said honestly.

"So like, no isekai adventures or anything like that?" he asked with a disappointed look.

"You do realize that if I took you from your world I'd have no way of putting you back right?" I asked to clarify things.

"What?" he asked confused.

"So the whole way this works is that my contact in whatever world I connect to is my anchor to that world. If I take you, my contact, out of that world there would be no anchor left for me to contact that world with. Get it now?" I said seriously.

"I've got family though." he said torn.

"Well let's workshop this a bit. I could also send your family through to another world but would they accept that?" I asked and he thought about it for a moment before shaking his head.

"My sister might since she is just stumbling through life here but my parents are happy where they are now. They might go along with it at first but they will regret it once the novelty wears off." he said with a sigh.

"Then you have your answer." I said and he nodded.

There was nothing more to say at that point so I cut the contact and didn't save it this time. -

While I could have asked for the knowledge that world had as extra padding to my multiversal knowledge pool that was kind of pointless. That was the thing about infinite possibilities, they were infinite. This meant just like I got a world that was plain this time I could also get worlds that no other world knows about. I had gotten lucky in that I was mostly familiar with the first handful of worlds I contacted but that trend would have gaps in it just like this one. Rather than preparing for worlds I may never see I figured it would be better to just roll with the randomness and use the contact in each world as my reference point.-

With that done I went back to work compiling information on my project. I also got started on creating the Fayth for it. This Fayth would be different than most of the normal ones from the magic's home world but something with a precedent. The Fayth in question was known as a punishment Fayth. The idea behind it was that the souls bound to it are not there willingly. Calling it soul enslavement would not be too far from the truth in fact. It was something done perhaps only once as far as the skill was concerned.-

In my case the Fayth would serve as the injection point for the thousands of astral souls I had from Guts. It would burn through them to keep the summoning going. Creating a punishment Fayth was included in the knowledge of summoning I had mostly because the process was not terribly different than creating a normal Fayth. It had to be a statue and had to roughly depict the thing being summoned, even if only symbolically. Getting the magical stone to carve into the Fayth was fairly easy as my world had a variety of magic holding rocks. I went with a big block of quartz for this project.-

A block the size of Hagrid to be specific. It was three and a half meters tall and two and a half meters wide. While I couldn't transfigure the block into my desired shape since the summoning magic would break the transfiguration I could still use magic to carefully sand down the block until I got the finished product. It was a delicate thing that looked like a snow globe almost with a thin orb enclosing the carefully sanded out shape of the island. -

At the top of the orb sat a door carved out of the quartz. This was important because otherwise I'd have no way into the summoned realm. Besides the delivery of the quartz to Hogwarts I had shown no one what I was working on. When I wasn't actively polishing the quartz into shape I kept the block sealed up in my inventory as an extra precaution. I'd need to anchor the Fayth before I could begin the process of filling it with the souls and starting the summoning. But I needed a secret place for it, somewhere no one would find it.-

I considered the chamber of secrets but rejected that idea out of hand since after next year the place will be known. To be honest this problem stopped me dead in my tracks. The Fayth had to be in this world for me to access it's realm but I frankly couldn't think of a place absolutely certain never to be found without me telling someone. I put it to the side for now though as the exams were quickly approaching and I planned to get O's in all of them.
