Magneto's face darkened with anger. Whoever was commanding these things had ordered absolute slaughter—keep this up and every mutant here would be wiped out.
Worse, his power did nothing to them.
Saitama, on the other hand, lit up the second he felt the Sentinels' strength and charged in.
Seeing him rush forward, the Sentinels immediately converged. In their logic matrices, anyone appearing here alongside mutants was categorized as a mutant—an eradication target.
They completely ignored the gap between them.
Saitama had already confirmed they were durable. He stepped in and threw a Normal Punch.
He'd overlooked one thing.
The first Sentinel earlier had only managed to trade blows with him after a period of "step-by-step" adaptation. But right now…
Saitama's fist landed—and the lead Sentinel detonated.
Truly exploded—flowering into a firework of sparks and metal fragments that sprayed in every direction.
Mutants watching from below froze in shock.
What… just happened?
When did they have someone this strong?
A few sharp-eyed ones noticed Magneto behind Saitama and tensed out of habit; Magneto had been the X-Men's adversary for years. But with the Sentinel threat bearing down, no one was stupid enough to pick a fight. Magneto, for his part, wasn't about to kick them while they were down.
Saitama was already on the second Sentinel. Same result: it didn't even survive a single hit before bursting apart. One after another, the machines in the sky fell—no exceptions. A force of fifty that had nearly turned the X-Men into a massacre was wiped out by one man.
Only when Saitama strolled back did the onlookers truly process it: he had taken out every last incoming Sentinel.
Saitama didn't bother with their feelings. He just frowned. "Where did those things even come from?"
Shff.
A teenage girl phased through the wall at speed, landing lightly. Agile frame, a face tight with panic—like she'd just shaken a tail.
She hit the floor and blurted, "Charles… where's Charles—"
Magneto closed his eyes. Around them, gazes snapped toward him. Metal monsters had appeared out of nowhere; the reflex was to pin suspicion on the master of magnetism.
Magneto. Metal monsters.
The association was too easy.
The girl looked right at him. "No—this time it wasn't him! Those things were built by Trask Industries."
"What? Trask Industries?" Magneto's brow furrowed. That old American firm had always run a civilian line… since when were they making this?
"Magneto… is Charles dead?" Jean asked as she stepped forward.
Faces blanched. Even after learning how deep Charles's mental conditioning had run, they still leaned on him, bone-deep.
"Who killed the Professor?!"
"Was it you, Magneto?!"
"What are you even after?"
Their shouts crashed over him. Magneto only said, "Didn't you just feel it yourselves?"
They fell silent, trembling—remembering the metal monsters.
Saitama sighed. "So, Magneto, what now? Can we still use that thing?"
He had already noticed the device Professor X had been using was ruined; when the Sentinel cored Charles's head, the machine was destroyed with it.
"What are you talking about?" Jean frowned.
Saitama scratched his cheek. "I wanted everyone in the world to understand mutants, so Magneto suggested a method—turn everyone into mutants. But it needed that device, and I'm not really sure—"
"Are you insane, Magneto?!"
"Yeah—what are you thinking?!"
"Why make all humans into mutants?!"
The curses piled up. Magneto's brows drew tight.
The girl who'd just arrived murmured, "Good thing you didn't…"
"What happened, exactly, Shadowcat?" Jean asked, looking to her.
Shadowcat?
Saitama gave the girl a once-over—and the data popped up in his vision.
[Name] Kitty Pryde
[Codename] Shadowcat
[Stats] Intelligence 5 (genius), Strength 2 (normal), Speed 4 (supersonic), Endurance 3 (enhanced), Energy Projection 1 (cannot emit energy), Fighting Skills 3 (proficient in a single martial art)
[Special Ability]
Phasing: Can render herself or others intangible through any substance. "Substance" is not limited to the physical—under specific conditions, phasing can extend to time.
So, not a combat type.
Shadowcat spoke quickly. "The Professor sent me undercover. That factory's been developing weapons specifically to kill mutants—and they were already preparing to strike. I ran back to warn you."
Members of the Brotherhood drifted over as well—fewer than before. The Sentinels hadn't cared whether someone wore an X on their chest or followed Magneto; they'd killed indiscriminately.
