Chapter 83 - And strangely, it made me remember my mother

The nurse helped me up, looping my arm over her shoulder so I could lean on her as we shuffled slowly toward the bathroom.

My legs trembled beneath me. It felt like I was moving something that didn't belong to me.

I looked at my legs. They were weak. So weak that I wondered if they had been replaced while I was unconscious and no one would say anything about it.

Such nonsense, right? But I had no other way to explain why my body felt so foreign.

The cold tiles pressed through my bare feet, and the smell of disinfectant hit again, causing me to feel a little nauseated.

When we finally reached the bathroom, she set me down carefully on the toilet seat.

"I'll wait right outside, okay? Call me if you feel dizzy."

I nodded, grateful she didn't insist on staying.

The door clicked shut.
