Chapter 309 - Chapter 309: Warlord-class Psy-Titan

"I object! I strongly object to a God-Machine going onto the battlefield alone! (Five minutes of binary expletives omitted)" On the Kharkov orbit, inside the Imperial Fleet, Cawl and a group of Adeptus Mechanicus Sages were protesting to Alex.

The reason was simple: in order to reallocate troops from the Kharkov front to support Kherson, Alex had, from an unknown source, obtained a Titan and deployed it in the planetary surface battle. This freed up the combat power of the Blood Knights Chapter, allowing them to roll to support Kherson.

This, undoubtedly, caused a complete uproar among the Tech-Priests. They could not tolerate a Titan entering the battlefield alone without escorting aircraft or the protection of a Titan Legion.

What was even more intolerable to these Sages was that this was a Titan that did not belong to any Titan Legion, and its model was a War Master-Class Psy-Titan, a type that even Cawl had never seen!

Leaving aside the War Master-Class, just the Psy-Titan alone was enough to make the entire Adeptus Mechanicus go mad.

According to Adeptus Mechanicus records, there were only 25 of these terrifying war machines, and all of them were Warhound-class.

Those were 25 Warlord-Class Titans permanently requisitioned by the Emperor from the Adeptus Mechanicus during the Great Crusade.

At that time, this requisition caused strong dissatisfaction on Mars, and after negotiations with the Emperor, the Adeptus Mechanicus compromised.

Eight units were transferred from Mars's inventory, and the remaining deficit was covered by the production capacity of other Forge Worlds, totaling 25 Warlord-Class Titans for the Emperor.

This batch of Warlord-Class Titans was assigned to an organization directly under the Emperor himself, named the Ordo Sinister. Like the Custodes and the Silent Sisterhood, it reported directly to the Emperor himself, not to other Imperial institutions.

This batch of Warlord-Class Titans was also modified into terrifying Psy-Titans within the Imperial Palace on Holy Terra.

Psy-Titans adopted a strictly forbidden Dark Age technology—the Ciricrux Anima device—to replace the standard configuration of conventional Titans.

This type of Titan was operated by three Psykers, who were surgically and permanently fixed within the cockpit, while command was held by an Untouchable.

This unique combination allowed Psy-Titans to unleash large-scale psychic phenomena, including but not limited to projecting psychological fear, launching psychic assaults, performing mind transformations, and even localized time distortion.

However, the most terrifying weapon of the Psy-Titan was undoubtedly the Sinistramanus Tenebrae, also known as the Psychic Cannon.

This weapon could gather the full power of the Psykers bound within the Titan, tearing the fabric of reality like a vortex weapon, ripping open a rift to the Warp in the target area.

The Imperial records of Psy-Titans' formal military deployment were in the Defence of Helioret, where the star system was attacked by Eldar pirates in 960.M30, with a largely destroyed Craftworld, Magc'Sithraal, whose Eldar raider forces also joined the battle.

As the Eldar destroyed and massacred planets one after another in the star system, the Imperial Army, Titan Legions, and Blood Angels Legion successively joined the battle, but they struggled immensely against the Craftworld's wraith titans.

When Sanguinius led the Blood Angels Legion in a full assault on the Craftworld, an unexpected reinforcement suddenly joined the battlefield—more than twenty Black Ships carrying Sisters of Silences and the Ordo Sinister's Warlord-Class Titans, operating in conjunction with the Sons of Sanguinius's fleet.

However, the Eldar's resistance was extremely tenacious.

Under the enemy's intense psychic artillery bombardment, the Blood Angels' fleet suffered heavy losses, and even more terrifyingly, a warlock titan, referred to as the "Witch-Idol," stood in the center of the battlefield.

This wraith Titan, driven by the souls of countless Warlocks and Farseers, had repeatedly defeated Imperial forces, with not a single successful retreat recorded against it.

The Imperial first wave of attack was completely shattered, and the second wave, launched by the Titan Legions, also suffered devastating blows—the warlock titan's psychic spear directly pierced the core of an Imperial Titan, causing a violent self-destruction.

Although Sanguinius himself successfully destroyed a Wraithguard in this engagement, the battle situation remained precarious.

Until three Titans of the Ordo Sinister descended to the surface.

These terrifying war machines were equipped with power claws on their right arms, and a mysterious weapon emitting deadly darkness on their left arms.

When they opened fire, strange dark explosions suddenly erupted on the wraith titans' armor, and their bodies were continuously devoured and disintegrated by some unknown substance.

The Eldar army instantly fell into a panic, and the wraith titans retreated one after another.

Even more terrifyingly, the Ordo Sinister Titans then unleashed a destructive pulse, and the entire Craftworld trembled violently as if struck by an earthquake.

Whether Astartes or Eldar warriors, they were as tiny as ants before this power.

Sanguinius keenly realized the change in the situation and decisively ordered a full retreat, leaving the battlefield entirely to these Psy-Titans.

The ensuing battle was a one-sided slaughter.

In just three hours, the Eldar's Titan army completely collapsed.

Countless wraith constructs were pierced by the Ordo Sinister Titans' pulse cannons, and the invincible warlock titan was finally decapitated and dismembered by the Psy-Titans.

The surviving Eldar warriors attempted to flee but were jointly annihilated by the Sisters of Silences and the Blood Angels, with none escaping alive.

Due to Sanguinius's eyewitness account, this battle became the most detailed record of the Ordo Sinister's operations.

However, after the Great Rebellion, with the Emperor sitting on the Golden Throne, much of the Ordo Sinister's related data was heavily redacted by the Terra Council.

This mysterious unit ultimately guarded the depths of the Imperial Palace alongside the Custodes, becoming Terra's last line of defense—only permitted to be deployed when the Imperium was on the brink of despair.

And now, a Psy-Titan has appeared on the battlefield, and it's even a War Master-Class!

How could this not cause these Tech-Priests' cogitator cores to overload?

Such a rare item, practically one of a kind, should be sent to the Mars Mechanicus headquarters to be enshrined as a holy relic in a stasis field, receiving the best maintenance services, not used as a weapon of war on the battlefield!

Not to mention, it didn't even have a single escort by its side.

However, Alex merely stated: Psy-Titans would be enveloped in powerful psychic reactions; ordinary mortals, and even Astartes, could not fight near them. Therefore, besides another Psy-Titan, there would be no other friendly forces near a Psy-Titan.

Cawl and the other Mechanical Sages reluctantly accepted this explanation, but they still expressed strong dissatisfaction and protest regarding Alex's deployment of this precious God-Machine into battle.

But Alex no longer had the mind to bother with Cawl and the others, because this time he had descended his consciousness into this War Master-Class Titan!
