"Zhu Ziyang, you really hid it deep. We've known each other for five years, and I had no idea you had twin martial souls!" Tang Ya smiled as everyone sat around the campfire.
"Haha, you can't blame me for that. It's just that no one ever forced me to use my second martial soul!" Zhu Ziyang laughed as he replied.
Tang Ya rolled her eyes at his answer, while Beibei and Xu Sanshi pretended to be heartbroken. Beibei said, "Ziyang, talking like that will make you lose two friends—me and Xu Sanshi!"
"Exactly!" Xu Sanshi nodded emphatically. "You're just too freakish, not that we aren't working hard enough! One martial soul was already enough to leave us far behind, and now you reveal a second martial soul, and with five hundred-thousand-year soul rings too! That's crushing."
Xu Sanshi didn't know how Beibei felt, but he had already given up trying to match Zhu Ziyang. They weren't even on the same level. He'd be better off comparing himself to Beibei instead.
"Ziyang, what's the name of your second martial soul?" Beibei asked. "It must be a True Dragon martial soul, right? I could even feel my Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon yield a little in its presence!"
"That's right," Zhu Ziyang nodded. "It's called the Heavenly Frost Holy Dragon, one of the Royal True Dragons."
"Royal True Dragon!" Beibei's eyes lit up. "So it's on the same tier as the Radiant Holy Dragon?"
Wang Dong, who was sitting beside Wang Yan, grew curious hearing this and tugged at Wang Yan's sleeve. "Teacher Wang Yan, what's a Royal True Dragon?"
Others with similar questions also turned their attention toward Wang Yan.
Under everyone's gaze, Wang Yan calmly adopted the air of a true teacher. He paused to think before answering, "According to the legends of the Dragon Clan on the Douluo Continent, there are nine Dragon Kings. Each one controls a type of elemental power and leads the rest of the dragon race. The direct descendants of these nine Dragon Kings are known as the royal lineage, and thus the nine royal clans were formed. The true dragons from these nine royal clans are called Royal True Dragons. Their elemental powers and bloodline are far superior to ordinary true dragons."
"The famous Radiant Holy Dragon, Dark Holy Dragon, the Golden-Eyed Black Dragon King Di Tian from Star Dou Forest, and Ziyang's Heavenly Frost Holy Dragon are all Royal True Dragons—top-tier dragons."
"Beibei's Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon, while also a true dragon, is considered an ordinary one."
Wang Yan's knowledge was extensive. His explanation echoed the understanding shared by most martial soul researchers across the continent. As he spoke, he glanced at Beibei and added, "That said, the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon still holds great potential. It's said to be capable of evolving into either the Radiant Holy Dragon or the Thunder Holy Dragon—both of which are Royal True Dragons."
"Teacher Wang Yan is absolutely right!" Beibei nodded with newfound respect.
"Ziyang, if I'm not mistaken, your Heavenly Frost Holy Dragon must be an Ultimate Ice martial soul," Wang Yan said.
"Mm." Zhu Ziyang replied casually while chewing on some roasted meat.
Huo Yuhao, who had been grilling meat diligently, paused and looked at Zhu Ziyang, eyes sparkling like a fan discovering his idol shared the same passion.
"As expected!" Wang Yan's eyes lit up, his voice filled with excitement. "To think I've witnessed four Ultimate martial souls in my lifetime! I could die happy right now!"
"Four?" Wang Dong counted on his fingers. "Senior Sister Xiaotao's Fire Phoenix, Senior Zhu Ziyang's Heavenly Frost Holy Dragon, and Yuhao's Ice Jade Empress Butterfly… that's only three?"
"What? Wang Dong, what did you just say?" Tang Ya froze mid-bite and stared wide-eyed at him. "What did you say Yuhao's martial soul is?"
"Ice Jade Empress Butterfly," Wang Dong replied innocently, completely unaware that he had just exposed Huo Yuhao's twin martial soul.
Huo Yuhao rolled his eyes at his roommate's cluelessness, then quickly stuffed a piece of roasted meat into Wang Dong's mouth. "You can't even keep your mouth shut when eating!"
"Ah!" Wang Dong finally realized what he'd done. Only he, Wang Yan, and Xiao Xiao knew that Huo Yuhao had twin martial souls. He had just exposed it to everyone else. He looked at Huo Yuhao sheepishly and gave an awkward smile.
"Yuhao, you're the real master of hiding secrets! Even I didn't know! Look at you, growing all sneaky!" Tang Ya crossed her arms and glared at him, pretending to be angry.
"Sister Tang Ya, I…" Huo Yuhao panicked under her gaze. In his heart, she was like an older sister to him—how could he explain this?
"Don't blame Yuhao, Sister Tang Ya!" Wang Dong jumped in to defend him. "Teacher Zhou didn't allow him to tell you!"
"Fine, teacher's orders, I'll let it go!" Tang Ya, of course, wasn't truly angry. If anyone was the happiest to hear Yuhao had twin martial souls, it was definitely her!
"Wait, does that mean out of the eleven of us, three people have twin martial souls? When did that become so common?" Xu Sanshi muttered.
"Seems like it!" Beibei nodded.
"So, Teacher Wang Yan, what's the fourth Ultimate martial soul you mentioned earlier?" Wang Dong returned to his original question.
"You really don't know?" Wang Yan gave him an odd look. Normally Wang Dong seemed quite clever—how could he be so dense at times?
"Huh? Was I supposed to know?" Wang Dong asked, bewildered.
"Wang Dong, Senior Zhu Ziyang's Stillness Fate Ending Scythe is an Ultimate Light martial soul!" Huo Yuhao couldn't take it anymore and just said it.
"Ah!" Wang Dong's eyes widened in shock. He turned to look at Zhu Ziyang, who remained calmly eating his roasted meat, and then back at Huo Yuhao. "How do you know that? Why didn't I know?"
"I asked Sister Tang Ya!" Huo Yuhao explained. "Isn't your Radiant Butterfly Goddess martial soul light-type too? I figured you could sense it! But I guess you really didn't know."
"Uh…" Wang Dong finally understood why everyone had looked at him so strangely when he asked that earlier question. He had completely embarrassed himself! His face flushed red, and he mumbled, "Because my Radiant Butterfly Goddess has a strong light element, I thought the reaction was just from being competitive…"
Everyone else was dumbfounded by his explanation. It was now obvious just how proud Wang Dong was deep down.
As the conversation continued and everyone became more comfortable, Ma Xiaotao finally asked Wang Yan about the upcoming arrangements.
Wang Yan clearly had prepared ahead of time and answered confidently, "The Soul Master Tournament usually lasts about a month. The first stage, the elimination rounds, typically take three to five days. It's the most important part—lose here, and it's all over."
"So, when I draw up the battle plans, I hope you three—Xiaotao, Ziyang, and Nannan—will follow my arrangements. The first stage is all about team battles."
"Of course," Zhu Ziyang and Jiang Nannan nodded in agreement without hesitation.
Ma Xiaotao, though reluctant to accept Wang Yan as team leader at first, understood the situation. Though she was still a bit uncomfortable taking orders from him, she replied, "I'll do my best."
"Thank you for your trust!" Wang Yan finally relaxed after getting their agreement. With the three strongest members on board, he could manage the upcoming week of battles. After all, the reserve team alone wasn't strong enough to carry the team forward.
With the internal leadership issue resolved, the atmosphere in the group lightened completely. At least now, everyone's faces no longer looked so grim.
