Chapter 288 - Chapter 287: An Emotional Night!

"This?" Jiang Nannan grinned mischievously. "I'll tell you tonight."

She didn't immediately reveal to Zhu Ziyang that her and Zhang Lexuan's trial was to assist him with completing the seventh Death God Trial. Instead, her gaze shifted to Qian Lingyi standing nearby. A strange glint flashed in her eyes as she said, "Brother, aren't you going to introduce her?"

"My name is Qian Lingyi. This should be our second time meeting," Qian Lingyi spoke up before Zhu Ziyang could reply, stepping forward on her own.

"Qian Lingyi?" Jiang Nannan repeated the name thoughtfully, trying to recall where she had heard it before. Then, suddenly, her eyes lit up. "You're that little girl from Tianhui Grand Canyon?"

"Mm-hmm!" Qian Lingyi nodded with a smile. "I'm not little anymore!"

"How did you end up with my brother?" Jiang Nannan asked curiously.

"Yiyi is also a student at Shrek Academy now," Zhu Ziyang explained. "She's been traveling with me these days."

"I see. Traveling together, huh? That must be nice." Jiang Nannan pouted as she looked at Zhu Ziyang, her tone revealing a trace of dissatisfaction.

"Hehe…" Zhu Ziyang could only smile awkwardly and scratch his head, unable to defend himself.

That evening, Zhu Ziyang followed Jiang Nannan and Zhang Lexuan to the Sacred Moon Altar.

"Nannan, Sister Lexuan, how many trials have you completed so far?" Zhu Ziyang asked, watching the two women kneel before the Moonlight Goddess statue in silent prayer.

"We've completed five, and we're currently on our sixth," Jiang Nannan answered as she stood up. "And our sixth trial is related to you, Brother!"

"Related to me?" Zhu Ziyang was startled. Then he recalled what Jiang Nannan had mentioned earlier about his seventh trial, and realization dawned. "Your sixth trial… could it be connected to my seventh Death God Trial?"

"That's right!" Jiang Nannan nodded. "Both Sister Lexuan and I were assigned the task of helping you complete your seventh Death God Trial. So, what's your seventh trial about?"

Zhu Ziyang was momentarily dazed. He had never imagined that the inheritance of the Goddess of Moonlight would be linked to the Death God's divine trials. The two gods shouldn't be related in any way, right?

He wanted to consult Xiao Bai in the Divine Inheritance Realm, but this wasn't the right time. For now, it was more important to share their respective findings. So he said, "My seventh trial is a bit troublesome. We need to leave the Douluo Continent and go to another continent."

"Another continent?" Both Jiang Nannan and Zhang Lexuan looked shocked.

"Yes." Zhu Ziyang nodded. "That continent lies to the east of Douluo. That's why I planned to visit East Sea City to gather some information. After all, we've never had any contact with the ocean before—let alone going out to sea to search for a new continent."

"You're right," Zhang Lexuan said, regaining her composure. "Going to sea is extremely dangerous and unpredictable. One wrong move and we might never return to the Douluo Continent. We must be thoroughly prepared."

"So what should we do? Go to East Sea City to investigate?" Jiang Nannan asked.

"That's what I'm thinking," Zhu Ziyang said. "But before that, we need to return to the academy to inform Elder Xuan, my parents, and your mother. This journey could take at least a year. After that, we'll acquire spirit souls for both of you, and then we'll head to East Sea City."

"Alright!" Zhang Lexuan agreed. "We'll also need to inform Great Aunt. Since we'll be gone for a while, the plan might have to be put on hold."

"Then it's settled—we return to the academy tomorrow!" Zhu Ziyang said with a smile. Then he asked, "By the way, Nannan, Sister Lexuan, what rewards did you get from your trials?"

"Hehe, of course they were great!" Jiang Nannan giggled. "Look, Brother!"

She released her soul rings—two purple and four black—surprising Zhu Ziyang. He pointed at them in astonishment. "That's your trial reward?"

"Yes!" Jiang Nannan nodded. "After completing the first five trials, all my soul ring ages were increased by five thousand years, and I also gained five levels of soul power. Without that, how could I have advanced eight levels in just a year?"

"That's amazing!" Zhu Ziyang genuinely admired her. They were both inheritors of divine trials, so why didn't his own trials come with rewards like soul power boosts or soul ring upgrades? Turning to Zhang Lexuan, he asked, "And you, Sister Lexuan? Was it the same?"

"Pretty similar to Nannan's, just not as generous," Zhang Lexuan said with a smile.

"I see…" Zhu Ziyang couldn't help but feel a little helpless. "Still, this is great. Once you both acquire your spirit souls, your strength will improve even more."

"Brother, I've been wanting to ask—what exactly is a spirit soul?" Jiang Nannan inquired.

"Look!" Zhu Ziyang summoned Xue Di and showed them the origin and function of spirit souls. Both women were amazed and instantly became eager.

After exchanging information, the trio left the Sacred Moon Altar and returned to their arranged rooms at the Marquis' estate. Zhu Ziyang's room was to the left of Jiang Nannan's, Qian Lingyi's was to the right of Zhang Lexuan's, and Jiang Nannan and Zhang Lexuan's rooms were adjacent. The arrangement clearly wasn't random.

Back in his room, Zhu Ziyang was just about to enter the Divine Inheritance Realm to consult Xiao Bai about the Goddess of Moonlight when he heard a knock on the door. He blinked in surprise, then got up to open it.

At the door stood Jiang Nannan, hugging a pillow. The moment the door opened, she rushed in without a word.

"Nannan? What's this about?" Zhu Ziyang asked in confusion.

"I've decided—I want to sleep with you tonight!" Jiang Nannan's face was flushed, but her voice was firm.

"Huh?" Zhu Ziyang froze. His heart began to pound uncontrollably. "Nannan, you… are you ready?"

Seeing the expression on Zhu Ziyang's face, Jiang Nannan immediately realized what he was thinking. Her face turned even redder, and she threw her pillow at his chest. Embarrassed and indignant, she shouted, "Aiya! Brother, what are you thinking?! I just wanted to talk to you! I wasn't going to give myself to you—I'm not even an adult yet!"

"Ahahaha… I misunderstood. I deserve a beating!" Zhu Ziyang laughed sheepishly. "Alright, let's have a nice long chat tonight, then."

Soon, the two were lying on the bed. Jiang Nannan clung to Zhu Ziyang's waist, softly whispering about how much she missed him. He listened intently to her feelings while also marveling at her beauty.

As the night deepened, the emotional conversation between the boy and girl gradually turned into something far more intimate...

The next morning, Zhu Ziyang woke up to see her delicate face nestled beside him, the traces of last night's charm still lingering in her eyes. His heart wavered. Neither of them had expected things to go that far, but everything had unfolded so naturally. This must be what it meant to lose oneself in the depth of love.

He moved his arm slightly, but the soft, silky warmth of the girl's body made him abandon the idea. All he could do was quietly wait for her to wake up.

Thankfully, she didn't keep him waiting long. Her misty eyes fluttered open, gazing sleepily at Zhu Ziyang. When she remembered what had happened last night, she blushed furiously, buried her head under the covers, and nudged his chest in embarrassment.

"Hahaha!" Zhu Ziyang couldn't help laughing.

The two got up, dressed, and straightened up the mess from last night before leaving the room—only to bump directly into Zhang Lexuan.

"You two…" Zhang Lexuan was momentarily stunned. She hadn't expected them to be all over each other this early in the morning. But when she saw the soft glow still in Jiang Nannan's eyes, she immediately understood. Her expression became a mix of amusement and warmth as she said, "Nannan, did you sleep well last night?"

"Ah! Sister Lexuan!" Jiang Nannan stomped her foot shyly and clung to Zhang Lexuan's arm, pouting. "Don't tease me!"

"Our little Goddess of Moonlight is blushing now?" Zhang Lexuan chuckled.

Not long after, Qian Lingyi arrived. She looked curiously at Zhu Ziyang and Jiang Nannan, feeling that something about them had changed overnight—but she couldn't quite say what. Jiang Nannan looked even more beautiful, and Zhu Ziyang seemed more composed.

She wanted to ask Jiang Nannan, but couldn't bring herself to do so. Then she turned to Zhu Ziyang—but of course, he wasn't going to tell her the truth. He just laughed it off and brushed her aside.

Afterward, the four of them gave their farewells to Elder Song and departed from the Moon South Archipelago, setting out for Shrek Academy.
