Chapter 409: The Beginning of the Gundam 00 Story 2

Sitting in the front passenger seat, Sergei also spoke with a proud expression, "No matter what, Dax, you did an excellent job this time. The newly built Eagle-type has brought great honor to our Human Reform League.

Those bastards from the AEU actually chose to hold their new mobile suit unveiling at the exact same time as our orbital elevator's tenth anniversary celebration. That's outright provocation.

But now it's perfect—we're using this celebration to launch our own new unit as well.

I'd really love to see the looks on their faces when they get shut down. Hahaha."

Then Sergei turned to Tolle with a gentle expression. "Dax, have you ever considered joining the military? With your MS piloting skills, I'm sure you'd become an outstanding soldier."

Tolle spread his hands helplessly. "Uncle Sergei, joining the military isn't impossible. But I don't want to be some low-ranking grunt ordered around all day. At the very least, I'd need to be given a Brigadier General or Major General rank before I'd consider it.

If that's not possible, then forget it. Being bound by rules and regulations isn't for me. I'd rather live freely as a wealthy magnate."

Sergei laughed with slight dissatisfaction. "You brat, you've got some nerve. I'm only a Lieutenant Colonel, and you're asking for a Brigadier General or Major General rank?

By seniority alone, at your age—about the same as Andrei—you'd be lucky to start as a Second Lieutenant."

Holly smiled and persuaded him, "Alright, old man. Everyone has their own ambitions. Don't make things difficult for Dax.

Everyone has their role. I retired and stay home to take care of the household so you can serve without worries.

Besides, he's not wrong. Being a wealthy magnate isn't bad at all. And hasn't he already contributed to our Human Reform League?

Otherwise, where did the Eagle-type come from?

Rather than forcing him to become some exhausted and dangerous infantryman, it's better for Dax to develop more mobile suits and strengthen our national power."

Tolle deliberately wrapped his arm around Holly's and said in a playful tone, "Exactly. Aunt Holly understands me best and treats me the best."

"Of course. I'm not as stubborn as the old man. Why would I make things hard for you?" Holly patted his hair soothingly, then glared at Sergei. "Isn't that right, old man?"

Sergei immediately gave in. "Dear, I didn't mean to make things difficult for Dax. I just wanted him to train in the military like Andrei and grow into a real man. That's all.

But you make a good point. I didn't think it through. It's better for him to focus on developing new units to strengthen our country."

Seeing Sergei concede, Tolle smiled. "Uncle Sergei, don't worry. I'll definitely develop more new units to enhance the strength of our Human Reform League."

The three chatted and laughed all the way to the military base near the event venue.

"Welcome, Mr. Dax, to our event training base."

The base's chief commander personally came to greet him at the entrance. After some conversation, he led them on a tour of the training facilities.

Looking at the Eagle-type units parked in the hangar and the busy soldiers training nearby, Tolle spotted Andrei among them. He, too, had become one of the pilots selected for the Eagle-type flight demonstration.

After the tour, Tolle said to the commander, "Sir, may I assist with training the Eagle-type pilots?"

"Of course, absolutely. We were just worried about not having an instructor to guide them on this new unit. Having you—the designer and test pilot—personally instruct them couldn't be better."

Under the commander's arrangement, Tolle joined the Eagle-type training team and began giving them guidance.

After a period of intensive training under his instruction, the Eagle-type pilots—including Andrei—showed significant improvement in their piloting skills.

Meanwhile, Wang Liu Mei returned home and boarded a shuttle to space, heading to Celestial Being to assist with final intelligence confirmation work.

July, AD 2307—the morning of the Human Reform League orbital elevator's tenth anniversary ceremony.

Tolle rose early and stood alone at a high vantage point, watching the sun slowly rise. He said excitedly, "It's finally here. The story officially begins today. I wonder who will come to 'eradicate conflict' on the Human Reform League's side.

It's a pity I won't be able to personally see what happens on the AEU's side—or that lucky immortal fool.

Still, who knows what unexpected twists the future holds? I'm really looking forward to it."

After watching the sunrise, Tolle entered the event venue under the chief organizer's arrangement and began welcoming representatives from various nations who had come to attend the celebration.

He then joined the aerial stunt performance team, flying alongside a formation of Eagle-type units and performing various aerial maneuvers.

They executed horizontal spirals, climbed and dived, and even pulled the Eagle-type—still in fighter form—into a loop. At the top of the loop, he rolled halfway, transitioning from inverted flight back to normal orientation.

Then the unit transformed into its semi-aircraft Guardian mode, diving rapidly and skimming low across the ground at high speed.

Upon reaching the live-fire training field, the entire formation transformed into humanoid mode, raising their Gatling guns and standing at both sides of the training ground entrance.

As prearranged, Tolle alone piloted his Eagle-type into the live-fire zone.

Amid the dense barrage from automated turrets, he used Guardian mode to effortlessly evade the incoming fire.

After showcasing the Eagle-type's high mobility for a while, Tolle pulled back on the control stick and gained altitude.

He then launched twelve air-to-ground missile racks from each wing—twenty-four missiles in total—instantly destroying twenty-four automated turrets.

While speeding through midair, he rapidly transformed into humanoid mode, raised the Gatling gun, and fired sweeping suppressive shots while continuing to dodge.

After eliminating all remaining automated turrets, Tolle flew toward the supply point at the entrance, demonstrating the convenience of the rapid automatic repair and rearmament system.

This automatic repair and rearmament system once again astonished the spectators below, who began discussing it excitedly among themselves.
