As Nase Ayano poured water from a kettle, she replied, "It's been decided. It was a slightly packed schedule. Such a plan in the months leading up to the Satsuki Shō would be a major test of a horse girl's recovery ability. So, Nase Ayano added, "But if Deep Impact's condition doesn't recover well after the Wakagoma Stakes, we might skip the Yayoi Shō and go straight to the Satsuki Shō."
"I see. I've seen Deep Impact on the training grounds recently. It feels like you've signed a real gem."
"Your eye for talent isn't bad either. That girl, Huiyi, has the potential for grade races. With proper training, she might really become a pillar of Japan's short-distance racing world." As Nase Ayano brewed her tea, her gaze lingered for a moment on Huiyi's ears, which were peeking out from behind the sofa. Her voice was just loud enough.
Just enough for her to hear. See, didn't her ears just perk up? Nase Ayano understood the common psychology of horse girls very well. If you praised them to their face, they would never admit it, stubbornly being modest.
But if they overheard their trainer praising them behind their back, their tails would wag like a helicopter's propeller. If it weren't for their weight holding them down, they would probably take off on the spot.

But Oguri Cap was no fool, and Kitahara was her best partner from her regional days. So, she didn't join Huiyi in her gossip. Instead, she grabbed a candied carrot from the table and stuffed it into Huiyi's mouth, shutting her up.
Alright, it seems I overestimated Oguri Cap's emotional intelligence. Sigh~ But I did manage to snatch something to eat from the mouth of 'Ogurizilla'. Progress is progress! Chewing on the candied carrot, a hint of a triumphant, mischievous look appeared in Huiyi's purple eyes.
Deep Impact was squatting on the other side, holding a horseshoe in each hand, seemingly comparing something. Nishino Flower saw this and proactively went over. Over by the sofa, Huiyi was continuously devouring 'Ogurizilla's' snacks.
In the kitchen, Mejiro Palmer was busy preparing lunch for everyone. Kitahara and Nase were chatting about trainer work that Huiyi couldn't understand. Before lunch, Huiyi glanced at the number of zeros in her bank account balance and was so happy she was about to bubble over.
After lunch, Nase and Kitahara decided to take the horse girls to the training grounds together. Huiyi, having changed into a new pair of shoes, followed slowly at the back of the group. Nase Ayano was in front of her, and next to her was Mejiro Palmer, who terrified Huiyi to her very core.
Deep Impact was also at the back of the group. She had originally wanted to ask Huiyi something at this pace, but seeing her nimble, darting-eyed demeanor, she suddenly swallowed the words that were about to come out.
They were both horse girls of the same age, but Deep Impact felt a strange sense of incongruity between Huiyi's age and her demeanor. Sometimes she was incredibly shrewd, but other times she was like the young Mayano Top Gun or Tokai Teio...
Though in terms of body size, she was indeed smaller than those two...
Could she be a horse girl with multiple personality disorder...? No... that's impossible. Tracen's entrance examination would never let a horse girl like that onto the track... Deep Impact was both guessing and getting lost in her thoughts. Finally, as the group in front turned a corner, she finally spoke up.

Deep Impact shook her head. "It's okay! I was just wondering if... when you get up next time, you could wake me up too? Can we go for morning runs together?"

Seeing her happy expression, Huiyi felt a bit tired. Was this the emotion that trainers felt most often when dealing with horse girls?
"Huiyi! Deep Impact, hurry up! Trainer Nase got some senpais to train with you today!" Nishino Flower cupped her hands around her mouth and shouted. Huiyi acknowledged her and then glanced sideways at Deep Impact.
They were some distance away now, but Huiyi raised her thumb to triangulate their position, then slowly lowered her finger.
"?" Deep Impact didn't quite understand the meaning behind Huiyi's gaze, but the next second, Huiyi grabbed her arm.
"Following the path is too slow. By my calculations, the shortest distance is a straight line! Hold on and follow my lead! Woohoo!"
"Hey?! W-waaah!!" Before Deep Impact could react, she was yanked away by Huiyi's bullet start, letting out a cry of alarm.
