"How is this possible? Impossible!!" Ronan's eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at the woman standing unharmed in the distance.
That woman had blocked his full-powered strike with the Power Stone. That attack should have been strong enough to destroy an entire planet, yet she brushed it aside as if it were nothing.
What Ronan did not know was that Akagi was already at the sub-god level, standing at the threshold of becoming a true god, a Heavenly Father class powerhouse. Even with the Power Stone, Ronan's own foundation was too shallow, and he could not draw out its full strength. At most, he could touch the edge of sub-god power, but compared to Akagi, he was still far inferior.
The most important factor was that Akagi wielded divine power granted by Phils, the power of life and space. Just the spatial force drawn from the Space Stone was enough to counterbalance the Power Stone. Combined with Akagi's own superior strength, it was perfectly normal that she could block Ronan's so-called ultimate attack.
"There is no such thing as impossible, Ronan. You are too weak," Akagi said with disdain.
"Impossible, I will kill you!!" Ronan roared in fury, humiliated at being belittled by a woman. He raised his massive war hammer and charged.
But Akagi would never give him the chance.
She stepped forward, space itself twisting around her. Raising her hand, she made a simple grasp.
To Ronan's horror, his body was pulled uncontrollably toward her. No, it wasn't that he was moving, but that space itself was folding toward the woman, dragging him along like an insect caught in a current.
Before he could react, her cold hand wrapped around his throat.
"You…!" Ronan's pupils dilated to the limit, his eyes filled with terror. Even with the Power Stone, he was nothing more than an ant in front of this woman.
Rage, fear, and unwillingness filled his mind, leaving him breathless. In truth, he really could not breathe. His life and death were now firmly in her grasp.
"I told you, you are too weak. The weak should submit, not struggle. Otherwise, you die," Akagi said coldly, lifting Ronan by the throat like a dead dog.
"I… I am the ruler of the universe…!" Ronan struggled, clutching his war hammer, trying to resist.
But before he could finish, Akagi snatched the weapon from him and crushed it with a single squeeze.
With a loud crack, the hammer shattered, revealing the glowing purple Power Stone.
"Such a treasure should not be wasted on someone like you. It belongs only to my master," Akagi said as she placed the stone into a special container.
"No, it's mine! It's mine!!" Ronan howled in despair.
"Fool. Power belongs to those strong enough to wield it. You are unworthy. As my master says, holding treasure without strength is asking for death. Enough talk. Now join your soldiers, and that asteroid, in hell!"
With a flick, she hurled Ronan like a broken kite into the very asteroid hurtling toward Xandar.
Ronan was defeated with ease. The only danger left was the incoming meteor shower and that massive asteroid.
Countless meteors broke through Xandar's atmosphere, streaking across the sky like fiery rain as they slammed toward the ground.
The Nova Corps sprang into action under the command of their leader, sending battleships to intercept the meteors with heavy firepower. The smaller ones could be destroyed, but the asteroid… what could they do about that?
As the colossal rock grew larger in the sky, the people of Xandar fell into despair again. They thought of the divine envoys who had just saved them. If they could defeat Ronan, maybe they could stop this too… right?
Their answer came quickly.
After tossing Ronan aside, Akagi stood proudly, her gaze fixed on the asteroid in the void.
She whispered, "From now on, this is my master's domain. Any threat will be erased."
The Star-Destroying Cannon floating at her side began to glow with terrifying energy. The skies darkened, thunder rumbled, winds howled, and Akagi stood tall in the void like a god.
The cannon flared brighter and brighter, until it shone like a second sun, impossible to look at directly.
Then, in a blinding instant, it fired.
The energy beam tore through the void, striking the asteroid tens of thousands of kilometers away. To onlookers, it was like a needle piercing the rock, but that needle drilled through its crust and reached its core.
The asteroid exploded like a gigantic firework in space, more magnificent than anything anyone had ever seen.
Generations later, the people of Xandar would tell their children, "Even the most beautiful fireworks pale in comparison to that day. Because those were the fireworks gifted to us by the Lord of Life. That scene was unforgettable."
The asteroid's destruction left everyone stunned. A moment ago, they doubted the envoys' ability to stop it. Now they watched as Akagi turned a world-ending threat into the most beautiful spectacle in history.
Billions fell to their knees, becoming instant believers in Phils. Their faith rushed across the cosmos, strengthening their god.
Phils felt the surge of power and chuckled in delight. "It's over," he whispered.
"Master, it truly is over!" Laffey poked her head out, eager for praise, her clothes soaked with sweat and her petite frame glistening.
"Not bad at all, Laffey. You've grown up," Phils said with a smile.
"Hehe, Laffey has grown up! Laffey wants a drink to celebrate!" She grabbed a bottle of wine and gulped it down happily.
Back on Xandar, Akagi clapped her hands as if finishing a chore.
In the command chamber, the Supreme Commander of Xandar looked up at the five shipgirls in the sky with awe and dread. Who were these beings? What were their personalities and desires? If Xandar angered them, disaster would surely follow.
Her worries were cut short by Akagi's voice echoing across the planet.
"By the oracle of the Lord of Life, Xandar will forever be protected under his light. Seventy-two statues of the Lord will be erected here, each with a temple where believers may pray. All who follow the Lord of Life will be under his protection, immune to harm. But if you betray his teachings or desecrate his glory, his punishment will be severe. Our task here is done. Farewell."
She pressed her palm downward, and seventy-two colossal statues rose across Xandar, each hundreds of meters tall, radiating majesty.
The people fell to their knees in reverence.
"Farewell, divine envoys! Glory to the Lord of Life, may your flame burn eternal!"
The shipgirls exchanged pleased smiles. They had gathered countless new believers for their master. Surely he would reward them greatly. The thought made their cheeks flush.
They could not wait to return to him.
With that, they boarded Monica's starship and leapt through space toward Earth.
Meanwhile, in the Centaurus constellation, on Vulcan, a chaotic world rich in rare minerals for starship jumps, warlords and factions clashed endlessly. With no true ruler, it became a haven for smugglers, mercenaries, and criminals, a paradise for those with enough credits.
Amid the smoke-filled bars and neon lights, a blonde woman in red and blue entered. Her suit resembled the flag of a distant country on Earth.
"Hey, look who's here, our Captain Marvel! What will it be tonight?" the bartender grinned.
"It's been a while. Same as always," Carol replied casually.
"I knew it. Hey, get our Captain Marvel a glass of Earth vodka!"
The bar erupted in greetings. Clearly, Carol was a regular here.
"Been fighting again?" the bartender asked knowingly.
"You know me. It's my duty," Carol shrugged.
"That duty is something you forced on yourself. You can't fight every war in the galaxy," the woman said, shaking her head.
Carol smiled faintly, then changed the subject. "Anything interesting lately?"
"Actually, yes. Something big. You know Ronan, the war fanatic?"
Carol's expression hardened. "Yes. What about him?"
"He was killed on Xandar a few hours ago."
"Killed?" Carol was shocked. Ronan was powerful, and backed by the Kree Empire. She could have taken him out herself, but the political consequences had always stayed her hand. Now, hearing he was dead, she felt relief as much as surprise.
"By who?" she asked quickly.
"A group calling themselves the envoys of the Lord of Life. A woman struck him down."
"A woman? It wasn't me, in case you're wondering," Carol said with a faint smirk.
"I figured. Still, if you want to know more, check Xandar. They built seventy-two statues there."
"Thanks." Carol downed her vodka in one gulp, tossed a coin onto the counter, and strode out.
The bartender watched her leave and chuckled. "Looks like things are about to get interesting."
