Chapter 110: Death of the Black Order General
1,640 Words
"Ahhhh!"
"No, I carry the will of Thanos! I am one of the Black Order generals. If you kill me, my king will never let you go!" The Black Dwarf roared in despair, his voice filled with fear.
Even with death looming over him, he still tried to intimidate Atago, relying on the name and reputation that once made countless civilizations tremble, hoping she would spare him.
But his mind was clearly not sharp. How could someone like Atago, a being of such power, be frightened by just the mention of Thanos' name?
Forget the name, even if Thanos himself stood before her, she would not flinch.
After all, Atago was a semi-divine powerhouse, close to the level of a demigod. Without the support of the Infinity Stones, even Thanos himself could do nothing to her.
Hearing his last threats, Atago's lips curved into a mocking smile.
"So, if I kill you, Thanos will not forgive me? I find that hard to believe. In fact, I'd like to test that theory." She looked playfully at the general's spirit.
"You..." The Black Dwarf's face changed in horror, but before he could even scream, Atago raised her hand. The power of reincarnation surged out, and his soul was instantly erased, reduced to nothing.
His followers, including his wife, Proxima Midnight, were also crushed by the same power, wiped out completely without a trace.
And so, two members of the Black Order were dead.
Â
One hundred kilometers away from the Palace of Reincarnation.
In the vastness of space, a hundred kilometers was nothing. But for the Ten Great Palaces, this was considered the safe distance. This distance was determined after countless ships were destroyed or trapped while testing the limits.
When the palaces first appeared, civilizations across the galaxy rushed over, eager to discover their secrets. But at the beginning, countless starships were destroyed. Some were crushed into dust by the overwhelming pressure of the palaces' fields, while others got trapped, unable to escape.
After long research and trial, they learned the truth.
From the center of each palace, a hundred-kilometer radius was its domain. This was the maximum safe distance that any ship could approach. Once inside that zone, an invisible force field would stop them. If they tried to push forward, the ship and everyone inside would be destroyed.
To this day, no one had ever stepped onto the land of the palaces. No one except one terrifying woman.
She had walked in with nothing but her body, resisting the force head-on. That woman was none other than Captain Marvel, Carol.
Because of this, she had gained the recognition of Atago and Tirpitz.
There was also another rule that people discovered. If the crew of a ship were believers of the mysterious Lord of Life, then the suppression of the field would be much weaker. The more devout the crew, the lighter the resistance.
This was why rumors spread that the Ten Palaces were connected to the Lord of Life, a being said to be as strong as, or even stronger than, Thanos.
Â
At the hundred-kilometer mark outside the Palace of Reincarnation, thousands of starships from countless civilizations watched silently as Thanos' Black Order fleet advanced.
"Tsk tsk, worthy of Thanos' fleet. The record we knew was seventy kilometers, yet they've pushed it straight to fifty."
"Their warships are insanely sturdy. Any other fleet would've been torn apart by now."
"Of course. This is the Black Order, the army that slaughtered countless worlds!"
"Wait... why did they stop moving? What's happening?"
"Impossible. They're the Black Order. Nothing can stop them."
"Don't be too sure. These palaces may be connected to the Lord of Life, a being even scarier than Thanos. If something happened to them, it wouldn't be surprising at all."
Just then, a strange sound echoed from within the palace.
Everyone froze. A terrible sense of death washed over them. Their souls trembled, as if the Grim Reaper himself had descended, scythe in hand, ready to claim their spirits.
"This is..."
"What's happening?!"
Through their scanners, they saw something shocking. Blue spirit forms floated out from the Black Order fleet, gathering in the void.
No one cared how they could see souls now. They only knew these blue figures were the spirits of the Black Order soldiers.
Each one bore an expression of pure terror and despair. They clawed, they howled, they wailed in agony. Their twisted faces all conveyed one message: unbearable pain.
The strange humming grew louder. Before the horrified eyes of countless onlookers, the souls disintegrated into nothing.
Everyone was stunned. Silence, shock, and fear filled the void.
Then, to their horror, the humming spread outward, growing so strong it affected even them. They felt their own souls shaking, as if being dragged from their bodies.
"Retreat! Retreat now! The master of this palace wants to kill us too! This is a forbidden zone, leave now or die!"
Panic spread. Ships turned and fled desperately. Everyone knew if they stayed a moment longer, they would never leave alive.
Some whispered as they fled,
"Gamora is connected to the envoy of the Lord of Life? No wonder the bounty on her is a hundred billion!"
"A hundred billion... that's suicide money. Not worth it!"
"This news is worth more than any bounty. If we leak it first, we'll profit big!"
In moments, the area around the palace emptied. The once-crowded battlefield became silent again.
Atago watched the retreating ships and chuckled playfully.
"Such weak and boring creatures. I didn't even have to lift a finger to kill them, yet they fled in terror. Finally, some peace."
Her gaze turned back to the Black Order's massive warships.
These ships were no ordinary vessels. Especially the mothership of the Black Dwarf, armed with planet-destroying cannons and thousands of energy turrets. It carried tens of thousands of smaller warships. It was a moving fortress of war.
"A fine fleet indeed. If I present these to my master, he will be very pleased. He will reward me generously." Atago laughed softly.
She waved her hand, and all the warships obediently moved toward the Palace of Reincarnation. Among them was the ship carrying Star-Lord and his companions.
They were still in shock. Just moments ago, Gamora had been forced to surrender and follow the Black Dwarf. Then, in the blink of an eye, the general and his entire force were gone.
It felt like a dream, but deep down, they knew it was real. He was dead, utterly erased.
They looked at Atago with both fear and reverence.
Atago said calmly, "Because of that woman's request, I will protect you for now. But this won't last forever. You cannot remain here. Your future depends on yourselves. Still, with my presence, your pursuers will think twice before acting."
Their ship slowly descended onto the land of the Palace of Reincarnation.
As they stepped out, a warm breeze swept across them, and radiant light enveloped their bodies. They were stunned to find their wounds healing instantly. Their energy and vitality returned in moments.
"My god, this place is a paradise," Rocket Raccoon exclaimed in awe.
"This... is incredible," Star-Lord whispered, staring at the endless palace stretching beyond sight.
At that moment, two figures descended from the sky. Carol Danvers and Tirpitz stood before them.
Seeing Carol, Gamora stepped forward gratefully. "Carol, thank you for speaking for us. Without you, we wouldn't have survived."
Carol smiled. "Don't thank me. I just wanted the chance to spar with the envoys. Helping you was only part of that. In fact, I should be thanking you for leading me here."
Star-Lord grinned awkwardly. "Of course, of course. Happy to help."
Carol then turned to Atago and Tirpitz. "But truly, you should thank them. Without their help, I couldn't have done anything."
Star-Lord bowed deeply. "Yes, yes, we owe everything to the envoys!"
Atago waved him off. "Enough. I helped only because of Carol's duel. No need for more thanks."
Her eyes lit up. "Speaking of which, how did your fight go?"
Carol gave a slightly embarrassed smile. "Tirpitz was too strong. I lost."
Tirpitz smiled. "You're strong as well, and you have limitless potential. You may reach even greater heights someday."
Atago's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Is that so? Then, Carol, fight me next!"
Carol nodded eagerly. "Gladly!"
With that, the two women leapt into the sky, their clash filling the air with thunderous shockwaves.
Star-Lord and his team could only stare in awe. This was a battle beyond anything they had ever witnessed.
Â
Meanwhile, on Earth, inside Roland Manor.
Effie gazed at the sky, her eyes sharp. Moments ago, she had sensed a dark presence stirring deep in space. Now, it was racing toward Earth.
Thor stood beside her, gripping Mjolnir tightly. His expression was grim.
"The Dark Elves are coming."
