Chapter 144 - Chapter 144: Perfectly Compatible Sharingan!

Facing the hesitant Konoha higher-ups, Shinju was the center of attention.

Tsunade, the Fifth Hokage, was the first to speak up:

"I agree. Danzo was killed by Shinju, and that actually saved Konoha from a huge disaster. Giving him Shisui's eye is completely justified."

The Third Hokage nodded right after her.

"I agree as well. Give it to him. I believe Shinju will carry on Uchiha Shisui's Will of Fire."

With the two Hokage leading the decision, even if some of the Konoha elders had objections, they were powerless to reverse the outcome.

...

The next day.

Shinju began the eye transplant surgery.

Before the surgery, Tsunade warned him:

"Uchiha's Sharingan comes with bloodline compatibility issues."

"Since you're not from the Uchiha clan, after the transplant, you might face problems similar to Kakashi's."

Shinju tilted his head in confusion.

"What problems? Kakashi-sensei seems to be using his Sharingan just fine, isn't he? (´°Δ°`)"

Tsunade gestured toward Kakashi standing nearby.

"Because he isn't an Uchiha, the Sharingan he received from Obito is permanently active."

"And when he uses it, it puts an enormous strain on both his body and mind, rapidly draining his chakra."

Shinju nodded thoughtfully.

"Oh, I get it."

"After the transplant… can I switch back if I want?"

Tsunade nodded.

"As long as you want to, you can switch back anytime. I'll keep your original eyes safe, so don't worry."

Only then did Shinju relax.

With his original eyes secured as a backup, he could confidently go through with the Sharingan transplant.

Soon after, Shinju was wheeled into the operating room.

Ten minutes later, the transplant was done, and he was pushed out.

After some time, the anesthesia wore off, and Shinju opened his left eye.

When he heard from Tsunade that the entire transplant only took ten minutes, Shinju blinked in disbelief.

"That fast?! Is Uchiha's Sharingan like some kind of plug-and-play device?!"

Tsunade gestured for him to stay still.

"For some reason, your body is perfectly compatible with Shisui's Sharingan. There's been no rejection whatsoever."

"For the next few days, watch your diet: less oil, less salt, eat more fish, and no alcohol… Most importantly, stop poking your right eye all the time."

...

Five days later.

The day came for Shinju to have his bandages removed.

Inside the ward, a large crowd had gathered.

Ino asked nervously,

"Will Shinju have to wear an eyepatch every day like Kakashi-sensei from now on?"

Naruto nodded seriously.

"If that's the case, Shinju's good looks are gonna take a serious hit…"

Kakashi smacked Naruto on the head.

"Watch what you're saying! Don't you think the mask and headband give me an air of mystery?! (ꐦ ಠ 皿 ಠ)"

"Besides, it's not like I have to cover my eye. It's just… keeping the Sharingan exposed all the time would be weird."

Tsunade shot a deadly glare at the noisy group.

"Quiet! I'm about to remove Shinju's bandages! (▼ヘ▼#)"

She reached forward and slowly began unwrapping the gauze that had covered Shinju's eye for the past few days.

Soon, a perfectly normal black-and-white eye was revealed.

Tsunade: (⊙o⊙)

"Wait… did the transplant fail? Why does this eye look exactly the same as your old one?!"

Shizune frowned in confusion.

"Tsunade-sama… how could you make such a basic mistake…?"

Everyone else looked equally puzzled.

Shinju, however, raised a hand, signaling them not to be surprised.

"This is the transplanted eye."

Then, forming a hand seal, he shouted:

"Sharingan — Open!"

In an instant, his right sclera turned crimson red!

Three jet-black tomoe spun around his pupil!

The entire room gasped in shock!

But no one was more stunned than Kakashi.

"How… how did you do that?! How can you freely activate and deactivate your Sharingan?!"

Kakashi's voice trembled slightly.

All these years, every battle had been torture for him because of his permanently active Sharingan draining his chakra nonstop.

So why was Shinju — someone not even from the Uchiha clan — able to control it at will?!

Shinju blinked innocently.

"I honestly don't know. It just… feels like the eye and I are connected. As long as I will it, it opens and closes freely."

The truth was, Shinju had felt completely recovered the day after the surgery.

But out of caution — and his fear of Tsunade — he strictly followed her instructions and waited until today to remove the bandages.

During those days, he'd been secretly practicing activating and deactivating the Sharingan beneath the gauze… and somehow, it worked perfectly.

Kakashi, seemingly unable to handle the emotional blow, silently walked out.

Soon after, the crowd dispersed as well.

Only Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Naruto remained.

Jiraiya stepped closer to Shinju's bed and said,

"Now that the Sharingan transplant is a success, it's about time you came with me for some proper training."

Shinju raised a brow.

"…What does one thing have to do with the other? (||๐_๐)"

"You're not planning to stay cooped up in the village forever, are you?" Tsunade cut in.

"A ninja should broaden their horizons and gain experience. Traveling with Jiraiya will be good for your growth."

"Exactly, Shinju!" Naruto grinned. "I've had enough of staying in the village anyway. Going on a journey with Pervy Sage sounds way better!"

Shinju thought about it for a moment, realizing Naruto actually had a point, and nodded.

"Alright… fine."

Jiraiya smirked.

"Then it's settled. Tomorrow, you two brats are coming with me."

...

That night.

After finishing his training, Shinju happened to pass by the park in Konoha.

There, he spotted Jiraiya sitting alone on a bench.

"Jiraiya-sensei, what are you doing here instead of hitting up the Kabuki theater tonight? Don't tell me you're out of cash?"

Shinju walked up with a teasing grin.

"You little punk… making fun of your teacher now, huh?" Jiraiya chuckled, half-scolding.

Shinju sat down beside him and casually asked,

"Be honest… this sudden decision to leave Konoha — did something happen?"

Jiraiya didn't bother hiding the truth.

"Last time, Akatsuki sent Uchiha Itachi and Hoshigaki Kisame to Konoha to capture Naruto. They failed, but they won't give up."

"According to the latest intel, Akatsuki's next big move should happen about three years from now. That's why I want to use this time to properly train you both."

Shinju nodded slowly.

"So that's how it is…"

"This Akatsuki organization… what kind of group are they, really?"

Jiraiya hesitated for a moment before replying.

"My intel on them is limited."

"I only know they've gathered S-class missing-nin from all the major villages, and their primary goal seems to be capturing the Tailed Beasts."

"As for why they're after the Tailed Beasts, and who exactly leads them… nobody knows."

Jiraiya leaned back, staring at a nearby swing swaying in the night breeze, and murmured, almost to himself:

"In any case, until you've both fully matured… stay cautious. Those S-class missing-nin are no joke."
