There was no doubt that Steppenwolf possessed the power to destroy Earth.
To be honest, in Clark's eyes, Earth's overall power level wasn't particularly impressive. If he wanted to, he could treat the entire planet like his playground—no one would be able to stop him.
Even so, a being capable of destroying Earth was not someone to be underestimated.
And clearly, Steppenwolf not only had that level of power—he also had the intent to either conquer or destroy Earth.
For whatever reason, he had set his sights on Earth.
And in the end, he clashed with the Justice League.
That meant Lois Lane must have played a crucial role in that battle—important enough to influence the outcome of the war.
Clark couldn't help but feel curious.
What exactly did Lois do in that battle?
She really wasn't a simple woman.
[You know, when Superman was alive, people didn't fully realize his importance. Some even opposed him.]
[But once he died, everyone understood just how vital he was to Earth.]
[If Superman hadn't died, someone like Steppenwolf wouldn't have dared to invade Earth.]
[Not just Steppenwolf—even the Mother Boxes were intimidated by Superman's strength and didn't dare send out a signal.]
[Only after Superman died did they activate and call Steppenwolf.]
[And in the end, it was the resurrected Superman—brought back by Batman and the others—who defeated him.]
"Mother Boxes…?"
Clark frowned slightly.
This was the first time the diary had mentioned them.
The name sounded ordinary—almost unimpressive—but Clark didn't dare underestimate them.
After all, Steppenwolf had been summoned by them.
So that meant… just like General Zod—and like himself—Steppenwolf was an alien visitor.
And clearly, he wasn't currently on Earth.
Which raised an important question:
If the Mother Boxes knew about Clark's death and could summon Steppenwolf…
Then they must already be on Earth.
And if they could summon him, then they must belong to the same faction.
Which meant—
That faction had likely been to Earth before.
Maybe they even still had people here.
Otherwise, where did the Mother Boxes come from?
Another thought made Clark's expression grow serious.
The diary said the Mother Boxes were afraid of him.
That meant:
They had always intended to send a signal.
They had always intended to summon Steppenwolf.
They simply didn't dare to act while he was alive.
Combined with the fact that Steppenwolf's forces had likely visited Earth before…
One conclusion became unavoidable:
Some alien force in the universe had been watching Earth all along—waiting for the right moment to strike.
And then there was another shocking revelation:
After his death…
Batman and the others actually brought him back to life?
Even Kryptonian technology couldn't accomplish something like that.
It seemed Batman and his team were far more capable than he had assumed.
Clark thought for a moment and connected the dots.
The diary had said Lois Lane played a key role in defeating Steppenwolf.
Now it also said Superman himself delivered the final blow.
Considering his relationship with Lois…
It seemed very likely:
Lois played a role in bringing him back—or stabilizing him after his resurrection.
[Although Steppenwolf failed and the portal closed—preventing Darkseid's army from arriving—]
[he still invaded Themyscira and killed many Amazon warriors.]
[Atlantis suffered as well.]
[And his Parademons caused widespread panic among humans.]
[If you think about it, all of this can ultimately be blamed on Lex Luthor.]
[After all, he's the one who killed Superman.]
"So my guess was right…"
Clark's expression grew heavier.
Steppenwolf's true goal had been confirmed:
To open a portal and bring in an army.
And behind him—
Was Darkseid.
Clark had heard that name before in the diary, but only briefly.
Now he understood:
Darkseid was the true mastermind.
The one who nearly destroyed Earth.
"Darkseid… so it's you."
Clark clenched his fists.
Earth was his home.
And he would never allow anyone to destroy it.
Not Steppenwolf.
Not Darkseid.
Then he continued reading.
A new term caught his attention:
Parademons.
He didn't know exactly what they were.
But the name gave clues:
"Demon" "Para" (like paratrooper)
So they were likely flying, demonic soldiers.
Just from the name, he could imagine their danger.
[Just think about how many people died because of Luthor.]
[Doomsday alone destroyed half of Metropolis with a single shockwave after absorbing a nuclear blast.]
[And Luthor even planted a bomb in the Capitol during Superman's hearing—]
[hiding it with lead so Superman couldn't detect it—just to frame him.]
"So that's Doomsday's power…"
Clark murmured.
A creature that could absorb nuclear energy…
That was beyond anything he had expected.
Then something didn't add up.
If Doomsday caused that much destruction…
Where was he?
With his speed and hearing, he should have been there instantly.
Why did it escalate to a nuclear strike?
Then it hit him.
A possibility.
"Did they… launch a nuclear weapon while I was fighting Doomsday?"
That would explain everything.
Clark's emotions became complicated.
On one hand:
Humanity wasn't targeting him specifically.
On the other:
They were willing to sacrifice him.
But after a moment, he calmed down.
Humanity wasn't perfect.
There was darkness—but also kindness.
Like his mother.
And that was enough.
He would still choose to protect them.
Then another detail appeared:
A hearing.
A trial.
"So… they put me on trial?"
Clark frowned.
That had to be Luthor's doing.
And then—
Luthor even bombed the Capitol?
Just to frame him?
"That man is insane…"
[Luthor truly went all out against Superman.]
[He discovered Kryptonite.]
[Learned Superman's weakness to lead.]
[Even uncovered his identity as Clark Kent.]
[He kidnapped his mother and Lois Lane.]
[And later escaped prison, forming a villain alliance.]
Clark exhaled slowly.
Compared to Zod…
Luthor was far more dangerous.
