But what exactly happened during that space rescue mission?
It seemed Phoenix had "darkened" once again.
Why else would Phoenix have killed Raven?
Why else would the human government have rounded up mutants?
The diary mentioned "after the Phoenix incident," clearly indicating that Phoenix had done something—something terrible.
What exactly had she done?
Was it related to Miss Marvel and the others?
In an instant, question after question flashed through Charles's mind.
But unfortunately, without the necessary intelligence, this wasn't something Charles could figure out anytime soon.
"Phoenix... she's really a ticking time bomb," Tony muttered, shrugging as he stood before another diary.
The diary had repeatedly mentioned Phoenix's immense power, even comparing the Phoenix Force she possessed to Chaos Magic in its overwhelming might.
As for Phoenix's true capabilities, the Playboy didn't need to be told—he already knew.
But currently, Phoenix seems extremely unstable, prone to "going dark."
She already went dark once on Demon Island, killing many X-Men, including Cyclops and Professor X.
What about this time?
She killed Raven!
This is a truly troublesome matter.
Although previous diary entries hinted that Raven was Magneto's subordinate, opposing the X-Men, this time the diary used the word "pity."
Does this mean Raven "turned over a new leaf" and became an X-Man?
Beyond that, the diary also made it clear that Phoenix's current incident occurs in the timeline after Wolverine's Days of Future Past.
If the future was reversed, it's not strange that Raven would stop following Magneto and instead follow Professor X.
After all, during the Days of Future Past, didn't Magneto try to kill Raven to prevent her DNA from being leaked?
The real question is: what exactly caused Phoenix to go dark this time?
Tony already knew the reason for Scarlet Witch's fall to darkness: her study of the Darkhold. But what about Phoenix?
One more thing, if I remember correctly, after Wolverine went back to the future, the past Wolverine was retrieved by Raven disguised as Stryker.
Magneto was truly ruthless. He pierced Wolverine's body with steel bars and sank him to the bottom of the lake.
Any ordinary person would have died eight hundred times over by now, right?
Even though Wolverine stopped him from killing the President, he still helped rescue him along with Professor X. He showed no mercy at all.
Yet, for some reason, Wolverine still fell into Stryker's hands.
Stryker injected him with Adamantium again and even wiped his memory.
He became a pure killing machine, even worse than before.
Poor Uncle Wolf, even after reversing the future, couldn't escape his tragic fate.
"Zhou Cheng was right, Magneto really is a ruthless bastard," Tony muttered to himself, unable to suppress his awe before the diary.
Whether it was being impaled by rebar or sinking to the bottom of a lake, either of these killing moves would have been fatal to an ordinary person.
Let alone this kind of "one-stop shop" of torment.
However, considering Wolverine's healing factor was so absurdly strong it could withstand a nuclear blast, the Playboy didn't believe any of these operations could kill him.
But the diary only mentioned Wolverine's astonishing healing ability, not that he could ignore pain, right?
If Wolverine could feel pain like a normal person, then such an ordeal would truly be a hellish torment.
The diary didn't dwell on Magneto's use of Sentinel Robots to assassinate the president, only revealing a sliver of the truth now.
Even so, the Playboy could imagine that Professor X and the X-Men must have engaged in a brutal battle with Magneto back then.
Only then did they manage to stop him.
Magneto disappeared afterward and went into hiding in Poland.
But tragically, after his powers were exposed while saving someone, his wife and daughter were murdered. In his rage, he nearly destroyed human civilization.
And what about Wolverine's true self?
He fell into Stryker's hands!
No one knew exactly how Wolverine had gone from being rescued by the fake Stryker to falling into the real Stryker's hands, but there was no doubt: Wolverine had once again fallen into the hands of the Mutants' sworn enemy.
He had been transformed into a memoryless killing machine, a fate even worse than what he had endured before the future was reversed.
Even Tony couldn't help but sigh repeatedly, thinking, *Wolverine is truly a pitiful soul.*
If Phoenix hadn't helped Wolverine regain his memories, he might have truly become a wild beast, right?
But thankfully, Stryker had imprisoned Wolverine. Otherwise, how could the X-Men have escaped his secret base?
Phoenix, Cyclops, and Nightcrawler alone wouldn't have stood a chance.
They could only watch helplessly as Apocalypse used Professor X's powers to declare war on all of humanity.
And then watch Apocalypse destroy human civilization and reshape the world!
Still, Uncle Wolf was the real hero! He carved a path through the entire base with his claws and helped the X-Men escape successfully.
Otherwise, Apocalypse's world-ending plan would have undoubtedly succeeded.
That Stryker fellow truly lived up to his reputation as the mutants' lifelong nemesis.
Even Tony was impressed.
This guy hadn't just captured Wolverine; he'd also taken several other X-Men!
The diary didn't specify exactly which ones, but it at least included Phoenix, Cyclops, and Nightcrawler.
Nightcrawler was mentioned in the diary, but not in much detail.
His codename didn't immediately reveal his abilities.
But since Stryker had once controlled him to assassinate the president, his capabilities were self-evident.
What kind of person was the president?
No need to elaborate.
The security surrounding him was so tight that even a mutant would need extraordinary skills to pull off such an assassination.
As for Phoenix and Cyclops, there was even less to say.
One was a super-mutant wielding the Phoenix Force, the other possessed superhuman abilities.
All incredibly powerful superheroes.
And yet, they had fallen into Stryker's hands?
Moreover, the diary was very clear: with their combined strength, they stood no chance of escaping Stryker's "clutches."
Cyclops's situation was understandable.
Though he could shoot lasers from his eyes like Superman, he likely lacked Superman's invulnerable body.
A single bullet could easily end his life, so it made sense that he would be controlled by Stryker.
But the world-destroying Phoenix?
The Phoenix who could reduce everything to ashes?
This portrayal seemed slightly at odds with the diary's portrayal of her power and prestige.
Could it be...
Tony pondered for a moment and suddenly realized.
Hadn't the diary mentioned it long ago? The Phoenix Force's power was so immense that even Professor X feared it.
That's why he had erected a Mental Barrier to suppress her abilities.
So, the Phoenix captured here was one whose power was suppressed by the Mental Barrier?
If that were the case, it would make perfect sense.
Even considering this, could Phoenix's repeated dark transformations be due to Professor X's Mental Barrier failing?
Allowing the Phoenix Force to fully erupt?
Playboy still thought this was possible, but he couldn't be sure.
However, some of Phoenix's abilities were further demonstrated here.
Besides reducing everything to ash, she also possessed mental abilities like Professor X.
She restored Wolverine's memories!
She turned Wolverine, a killing machine previously controlled by Stryker, back to normal and had him slaughter his way through Stryker's base.
Stryker really shot himself in the foot, didn't he?
Tony had long known Wolverine's abilities.
Invincible healing factor + Adamantium claws—these were practically cheat codes for ordinary humans.
After all, Wolverine could completely ignore damage and just focus on unleashing maximum output.
Being able to slaughter through a base that even Phoenix and the others couldn't escape wasn't all that surprising.
But why did Apocalypse declare war on all of humanity?
The diary had previously mentioned that Apocalypse had slept for millennia, finally made his move, only to be betrayed by two of the Four Horsemen.
Could that "move" have been nothing more than a declaration of war on humanity?
Could it have been about destroying human civilization and reshaping the world?
"Wait a minute!"
As he pieced this together, Playboy suddenly realized something.
Destroying human civilization and reshaping the world—isn't that exactly what Magneto did?
Didn't Magneto control the Earth's magnetic field, drawing all metallic elements to the surface and obliterating everything humanity had built since the Bronze Age?
And let's not forget that Magneto was once one of Apocalypse's Four Horsemen!
The logic of the entire situation became clear.
Magneto's actions were obviously carried out on Apocalypse's orders.
Apocalypse had enhanced Magneto's powers, transforming him from the Iron King into Magneto, precisely to help him destroy human civilization.
The diary also mentioned that Apocalypse had enhanced Professor X's abilities, allowing him to connect with all of humanity without using Cerebro.
At the time, Tony hadn't fully understood Apocalypse's actions or motives. But now it seemed... could Apocalypse have been declaring war on all of humanity?
As more fragments were revealed, the pieces of the puzzle surrounding these events gradually fell into place, becoming clearer and more complete.
The outlines of Apocalypse's plan slowly began to take shape in Tony's mind.
It was clear that after awakening from millennia of slumber, Apocalypse had decided to reshape the world for some unknown reason.
He recruited the Four Horsemen of Apocalypse, used Professor X to declare war on humanity, and then planned to use Magneto to destroy human civilization!
But the outcome, as we know, was a failure.
After Phoenix and the others escaped from Stryker, they stopped Apocalypse.
Phoenix even unleashed a small burst of her power, reducing Apocalypse to dust.
That was pretty much the whole story regarding Apocalypse, more or less.
There was just one thing.
Why did Apocalypse want to reshape this world?
What was his motive?
"Is this Apocalypse's true goal?"
Charles, facing another diary, grew solemn.
After all this time, it turned out Apocalypse really intended to bring about an apocalypse upon the world, just like in the Book of Revelation!
And Apocalypse certainly possessed the power to do so.
In fact, the diary's spoilers suggested he didn't even need to act personally.
He could simply have his Four Horsemen of Apocalypse "handle it" for him.
His ability to enhance Mutant powers was truly broken!
Moreover, the diary's various spoilers revealed that Apocalypse's own strength was terrifyingly overwhelming.
As far as he could tell, no one could defeat him except Phoenix.
Not even the combined might of the X-Men would suffice.
Even the X-Men plus Magneto, who could control the global magnetic field, would fail.
Worse still, Apocalypse's awakening seemed to be imminent.
But as of now, Charles had no news of Phoenix.
"I must find Phoenix as soon as possible!" he resolved in his heart.
Although the diary didn't reveal Phoenix's real name, this wasn't a problem for Charles.
Interdimensional Netizen Clark had X-Men related works, didn't he?
He could just ask Clark about it later.
With this thought, Charles finally felt a sense of relief.
No, calling it an apocalypse might be inaccurate.
Apocalypse does intend to kill some humans, but not all. His goal is to rule them.
Remember when Professor X used Cerebro to search for Magneto, but Apocalypse took control and launched all the world's nuclear missiles?
Yet Apocalypse didn't use the nukes to bomb humanity like Skynet did. Instead, he launched them all into the sky!
Unlike Skynet, Apocalypse actually wanted humans to survive. That's why he tasked Magneto with the destruction of human civilization.
So, this was the reason Apocalypse wanted to reshape the world?
Just like Loki when he invaded New York, did he want to play the role of a high-and-mighty god and rule the Earth?
Tony didn't know what to say.
*Why is it that in every world, there's always no shortage of these ambitious bastards?*
And without exception, whether it was Loki or Apocalypse, those who deluded themselves into conquering the world with overwhelming power met the same fate:
Failure!
Still, when it came to conquering the world and ruling the Earth, Apocalypse seemed far more formidable than Loki.
Loki had merely stolen the Cosmic Cube and relied primarily on the Chitauri army.
But Apocalypse?
With a casual wave of his hand, he launched every nuclear missile on the planet!
