"Ugh, What happened?" Ramiel muttered as he got up from the muddy floor, dazed and disoriented. His mind was foggy, and he could barely remember anything, except one thing: someone had said something about a void.
"Oh... Calis."
Memories started trickling back, sharp and sudden. Then it hit him, he was still in his animal form. "What the heck happened?" he thought, quickly shifting back to his human form.
He caught Calis' scent nearby. Turning sharply, he saw the small, fragile body slumped against the wall.
"Calis? Calis!"
He rushed over and placed his head against Calis' chest. No heartbeat. No breathing.
"No... that can't be."
Panic surged through him, fast and wild. He didn't even understand why. Normally, he wouldn't care, he'd let people rot without a second glance. But this small, feminine-looking boy had stirred something in him.
"Calis" he whispered, shaking him gently. Still no response.
