The next few days passed steadily.There was no war nor were there any surprise attacks.
There was not even the slightest sign that either side was preparing to launch another conquest.
Everything looked calm on the surface.
Yet that very calmness made everyone even more uneasy.
A strange atmosphere hung over the battlefield every single day. Soldiers continued their patrols while keeping one hand close to their weapons. Scouts were sent out more frequently than before, and every report was treated with extreme caution. Even the commanders found it difficult to relax because they felt as though something could happen at any moment.
Everyone's heart beat a little faster than usual.
Anxiety quietly spread through both camps.
Many soldiers could not sleep properly at night. Some would suddenly wake up after hearing the slightest noise, thinking the enemy had begun attacking. Others spent long hours staring toward the distant horizon, waiting for the first signal of war.
