Chapter 227 – The Fourth Raikage's Idol
"Do you really want to start a war with me, A?!" Yusuke's voice boomed across the sky, laced with fury and killing intent that rippled through the air like thunder.
"Wait—calm down! I agree! I'll give you the thirty-day supply!" shouted the Fourth Raikage, breaking into a cold sweat as he realized just how close his village was to destruction.
"Really?" Yusuke narrowed his eyes.
"Really," A replied, nodding solemnly.
"Good," Yusuke said at last. "Then bring him here. I'll treat him first—and after that, you can show me your sincerity."
A waved his hand sharply. "You heard him! Bring Darui here, now!"
The Kumogakure shinobi hesitated for only a moment before sprinting off. They still couldn't believe what they were seeing—was there truly someone in the world who could make the Raikage himself flustered like this?
Moments later, they returned, carrying the unconscious body of Darui.
Yusuke's gaze sharpened as his Six Eyes flared with light, scanning every inch of Darui's body. "Hmm… this is bad. The poison's already reached his heart, and all the major veins in his body are severed."
A's face darkened; even the medical-nin had said the same. They'd admitted that not even Tsunade could handle something this severe. The poison had reached the heart—an operation like that required chakra control beyond anything humanly possible.
"Well?" A pressed impatiently. "Can you fix him or not?"
Yusuke didn't answer immediately. His mind wandered, lips twitching slightly.
This level of damage… maybe I should raise my price. Honestly, I'm the only one alive who could fix something like this.
"If you can really save him," A said hesitantly, "I'll add another month to the deal."
Yusuke's expression brightened instantly. "Deal. Give me two minutes."
Everyone blinked. Two minutes?!
"Two minutes?! That's impossible! Even an hour wouldn't—"
"Room."
A transparent dome of energy expanded outward, encasing Yusuke and Darui within it. Lightning began crackling around Yusuke's hand, the air trembling with power.
"Gamma Knife – Cardiac Shock."
With a calm, steady tone, Yusuke placed his hand directly over Darui's chest. The Raikage's heart nearly stopped at the sight—but he forced himself to trust. If Yusuke wanted Darui dead, he wouldn't need something so dramatic.
Then Yusuke reached into his dimensional space and pulled out a massive black blade—its length greater than a man's height.
"W-Wait a minute, Lord Hatake!" one of the Kumogakure shinobi stammered. "Why are you pulling out a sword that big?!"
"For surgery," Yusuke replied casually.
"That's not a surgical tool! That's a weapon!" A barked in disbelief.
"Huh. If it weren't for those two full months of sweets, I wouldn't even bother taking this out. This is Yoru, the strongest black blade in the world," Yusuke said nonchalantly, as if scolding a group of villagers who'd never seen civilization.
"Thank you very much—wait, no!" A's mind screamed. That's a weapon of mass destruction, not a medical instrument! If he slips even slightly, Darui's done for!
Inside the Room, Yusuke swung the blade. The strike was so clean, so fast, that Darui's body separated into neat segments—head, torso, limbs—each floating in suspension.
The Raikage's eyes went bloodshot. Were it not for the lack of blood, he might've charged in himself.
But Yusuke worked with inhuman precision. Chakra finer than atoms flowed from his fingers as he purged every trace of poison from Darui's heart, then flushed the remaining toxins from his body.
When that was done, he summoned white-blue flames—Flames of Resurrection—to reattach every severed vessel, every strand of flesh.
"Room – Command Rod – Reconstruction."
One by one, the pieces of Darui's body fit back together seamlessly. Yusuke's back faced the others, but if they could've seen his face, they would've noticed the faint grin curving his lips.
"It's done," he said simply.
Silence.
No one spoke. No one even breathed.
What they'd just witnessed defied comprehension. The most complex, impossible operation in shinobi history… and this man made it look like child's play.
"Why isn't he waking up?" A asked nervously, afraid to step into the Room.
"Oh, right. I forgot one step," Yusuke said casually.
A twitched. You call yourself a doctor?!
Yusuke clenched his fist and slammed it down on Darui's body.
Darui jolted violently, flying backward and crashing into the floor.
"Argh… ow… that hurt…" Darui groaned, slowly opening his eyes.
"Darui! You're awake!" A exclaimed, rushing forward in relief.
"I-I think so, Raikage-sama…" Darui muttered, scratching his head—only to realize he was scratching it with his foot.
"Wait—Raikage-sama?! Why is my body like this?!"
Yusuke stood off to the side, arms crossed, a mischievous grin spreading across his face.
"Don't look at me like that. I healed him, didn't I? Now… pay up. Don't make me angry," Yusuke said, his tone light but carrying a razor-sharp edge.
"What will it take to fix him properly?" A asked warily.
Yusuke smiled slyly. "Ah, I see… the bait's been taken."
"One more month," he said.
"Deal," A said instantly, without hesitation.
Yusuke blinked. Tch. I should've asked for more.
He waved his hand, and with a flick of chakra from the Ope-Ope no Mi, Darui's body rotated midair, limbs snapping back to their correct positions.
"Remember your promise," Yusuke said coldly. "If you go back on your word, I won't be so polite next time."
"I understand," A replied firmly.
Without another word, Yusuke gathered all the sweets Kumogakure had stockpiled for him, then disappeared into thin air.
"Raikage-sama," Samui said after a long silence, "that man—Hatake Yusuke—is… strange, isn't he?"
Mabui nodded slightly. "Yes. He's brilliant like a devil, yet his personality is oddly pure. In this age, people like him barely exist. No wonder everyone calls him Lord Yusuke."
The Fourth Raikage shook his head slowly. "No. You're both mistaken."
He looked out toward the horizon, a small, wistful smile curving his lips. "Hatake Yusuke is simply too strong. So strong that, in this world, there's nothing left he can't do. That's why he has no ambition anymore. Instead, he creates little obstacles for himself—tiny challenges—just to keep life interesting."
The Raikage let out a soft chuckle. "And you know what? He genuinely enjoys it."
Samui's eyes softened. "Raikage-sama… what kind of person do you think he truly is?"
"If he lived in Kumogakure," A said without hesitation, "we'd be friends. I'd even hand over the title of Raikage to him. With his strength and mind, he could lead Kumogakure to rule the entire shinobi world."
That was the way of the Cloud Village—where power defined leadership.
Unlike in Konoha, where titles were often passed down through connections and politics, Kumogakure respected the simple truth: the strong shall lead.
Perhaps that was why betrayal was rare among their ranks.
Samui smiled faintly. "You really admire him, don't you, Raikage-sama?"
"Who wouldn't envy someone that strong?" A replied quietly, then turned away, his heavy steps echoing through the corridor.
The Fourth Raikage—warrior, leader, and symbol of strength—had finally found his idol.
