Chapter 320 – Hatake Yusuke, the Man Without Human Rights
"Why is everyone staring at me like that?" Yusuke asked, holding a piece of dessert in his hand.
Just as he was about to bring it to his mouth, he realized every single pair of eyes in the room was fixed on him. Confused, he froze in place.
"Hatake Yusuke," Tsunade called out, her expression dark as she looked straight at him.
"What is it?" Yusuke asked, genuinely baffled. He had no idea what was going on. Even Kurenai was glaring at him with a sharp, displeased look.
"Well, here's the situation," Kakashi said, turning toward Yusuke. "The Fifth Mizukage wants to form a political marriage alliance with the Hatake clan of Konoha. And the person she named as her partner is… Nii-san. You."
"What?" Yusuke nearly choked. "Me? Kakashi, that joke isn't funny at all. Have I been too gentle with you lately? Do you want to try out your big brother's Iron Fist again?"
Yusuke's face darkened as he stared at Kakashi.
"I'm not joking, Nii-san," Kakashi replied bitterly. "And there's nothing I can do about it. The Fifth Mizukage will arrive in Konoha tomorrow."
"Hmph. She's got some nerve, coming here in person. Terumi Mei, huh?" Tsunade said coldly. "Fine. I'd like to see her myself."
The massive chakra within her body stirred.
An aura belonging to a high-level Kage washed over the area, making several people feel a heavy pressure on their chests.
"Tsunade, this really has nothing to do with me. I honestly don't know anything about this," Yusuke said quickly. Right now, he felt it was best to explain himself first. Otherwise, his peaceful days were definitely over.
"Sister-in-law, if you act like this, you're making things very hard for me," Kakashi said helplessly.
"Hmph. Konan, you're coming with me tomorrow to welcome the Mizukage," Tsunade said, completely ignoring Kakashi.
"Understood, Tsunade-nee," Konan replied coolly.
"Sister-in-law, Konan-nee, this can't be handled recklessly. Trust me and leave it to me. I guarantee there won't be any problems," Kakashi said quickly, trying to smooth things over.
Hearing that, a faint blush appeared on Konan's face. She couldn't help but sneak a glance at Hatake Yusuke.
The others, however, didn't react too strongly.
After all, Konan had already been acknowledged by Tsunade. Even if Yusuke himself disagreed, a single sentence from Tsunade was enough to solidify Konan's position.
In that gloomy atmosphere, everyone finished their meal and prepared to leave.
Before going, they all looked at Yusuke with expressions full of sympathy.
Throughout the entire meal, Yusuke hadn't even touched his favorite sweets.
Not long after, the next day arrived.
Terumi Mei came to Konoha, accompanied by her guards.
"Tsunade-hime, it's been a long time," Terumi Mei greeted with a charming smile.
"Mizukage, what brings you to our Konoha?" Tsunade asked flatly.
"Oh? Didn't the Sixth Hokage tell you?" Terumi Mei asked, looking surprised.
"Hmph. A political marriage, is it? That's fine. But the Hatake clan doesn't need a political marriage. If the Mizukage has someone she likes, I can introduce you to another family," Tsunade said calmly.
"No, Hokage-sama. This political marriage is different from the usual kind," Terumi Mei replied.
"How is it different?" Tsunade asked, her expression steady.
"A political marriage emphasizes equal status," Terumi Mei said. "And this time, the one getting married… is me personally."
Her words struck everyone like a bolt of lightning.
The Mizukage of Kirigakure, personally marrying into Konoha—this was something that had never happened before in history.
Even Uzumaki Mito, the wife of the First Hokage, had only been a princess from a country.
But a Mizukage was different.
She was the leader of an entire village, someone who could, in a sense, bring all of Kirigakure with her as a "dowry."
"Oh? If it were Kakashi, that might still be worth considering. But Mizukage-sama, Kakashi already has a wife. Of course, if you don't mind, I personally don't have any objections," Tsunade said.
"No. The person I wish to take as my partner is Hatake Yusuke, not the Sixth Hokage," Terumi Mei said, her lips curling into a faint smile.
"Mizukage, there seems to be a misunderstanding. Hatake Yusuke already has three wives," Tsunade said, her face darkening.
"Princess Tsunade, I'm well aware of that," Terumi Mei replied calmly. "And I don't mind becoming a concubine."
"What?"
Everyone stared at Terumi Mei in shock.
Even Tsunade was left speechless, not knowing what to say.
As a woman of exceptional talent and the Mizukage herself, Terumi Mei was actually willing to become someone's concubine.
"Hmph. Mizukage, this isn't something I can decide on my own," Tsunade said, her expression unpleasant.
"Then where is Hatake Yusuke right now?" Terumi Mei asked.
Tsunade felt uncomfortable, but for the sake of the bigger picture, she had no choice.
If it had to be rejected, then let Hatake Yusuke reject it himself.
After all, she knew very well that Yusuke wasn't someone who could be easily dragged into matters like this.
So Tsunade led Terumi Mei to where Yusuke was.
At that moment, Hatake Yusuke stood there with a look of despair on his face, a bucket of water balanced on top of his head.
Don't ask why he was training like this.
"Kurenai, can I put it down for a bit? I'm really exhausted," Yusuke pleaded, looking at Kurenai, who was standing nearby watching him.
"No, my husband. Tsunade-nee ordered me to keep an eye on you," Kurenai said, smiling mischievously.
"It's fine, Kurenai. Tsunade won't notice," Yusuke coaxed.
"That won't do. In this house, Tsunade-nee is the one in charge," Kurenai replied firmly.
In this world, there might only be one person who could truly make Hatake Yusuke afraid.
And that person was Tsunade.
Kurenai actually admired her for it.
She had grown up with Yusuke and knew how stubborn he could be. Even Hatake Sakumo hadn't been able to change his mind once he made a decision.
But Tsunade was different.
She was the only person in the world who could make Yusuke lower his head and feel a sense of fear.
"Kurenai, look, I'm about to become a father too. If I'm standing like this in front of my child someday, I won't have any dignity at all. Trust me. When Tsunade comes back, I'll feel it right away. I won't put you in a difficult position," Yusuke said earnestly.
"The child isn't even born yet, you know," Kurenai replied flatly.
She honestly couldn't understand him. Even with a child on the way, her husband was still just as childish as ever.
"You don't get it. The child can see. Please, Kurenai, I really can't take it anymore. Sunagakure just released a new variety of sweets today," Hatake Yusuke begged.
"You always have so many excuses. Just like Tsunade-nee says. You're lucky I'm the one watching you today. If it were Konan, you would've already run off by now," Kurenai said with an annoyed look.
"But Kurenai, this really has nothing to do with me. You know that too," Yusuke said helplessly.
"I know. Tsunade-nee knows too. But since this problem already exists, someone has to bear the anger," Kurenai replied.
"Konan is a very good example of that," she added.
"Konan? That was something you all decided on yourselves. I had nothing to do with it," Yusuke said, clearly dissatisfied.
"You'd better stop resisting. Since Tsunade-nee and I have already accepted Konan, this isn't something you get to decide anymore, my dear husband," Kurenai said teasingly.
"Alright, I get it. Ah—Tsunade's back. Kurenai, you have to help me speak nicely later," Yusuke said quickly.
"Fine," Kurenai replied reluctantly.
Seeing that Kurenai finally agreed, Hatake Yusuke let out a long, relieved smile.
