When Rowan woke up, the first thing he noticed was the dull throbbing pain coursing through his body especially from his lower half. But unlike before, there was no headache, no dizziness and no shortness of breath. Compared to the haze and torment he felt during his heat, his mind now felt strangely clear—
almost light.
'What? Why do I feel so sore down there? What happened to me?' he thought while groaning as he tried to sit up. His hand instinctively went to his back, massaging the ache.
"Ugh, my back…" he muttered, glancing around the room until his eyes landed on Evan who was quietly fixing the curtains.
"Oh, you're awake," Evan said in a calm tone. "Wait here, I'll call the servants and have your food prepared."
"Uh, no, sir. It's fine," Rowan said quickly. "I can go there myself."
"That can't do," Evan replied firmly, not even looking back. "You probably won't be able to walk properly for a while."
