I look at the corpses in front of me and say.
"Burn them all. Leave nothing behind."
It has been five days since the first wave of Poxwalkers and Groaners. It looks like the entire Hive City is now set ablaze by the cult, and now they are blatantly attacking in the open instead of the shadows.
If my knowledge holds true, they spread the so-called blessing through the water supply of the Hive City.
Canto theorizes that they can no longer hide the mutation of the civilians of Hive City that turn into nothing but disease-ridden heretics that want nothing but human flesh and carriers of Nurgle Blight.
Hundreds to even thousands of infected try to take over the hangar. They are using explosives to destroy the stone wall I created and use numbers to try to overwhelm me and my people. Sadly for them, we are ready.
Using my Tinker power, I can create more ammunition for the autogun and a charging station for the lasgun. How? There is one in the abandoned guard station where the weapons are gone, looted by the cartel and the heretics, and I need to scan the station using Canto.
These past five days, we have been fighting nonstop. We are lucky that I gained [Tinker–Augmentation] because the guards cannot handle the lack of sleep without it. However, because the horde keeps attacking us, many people want to become soldiers and take the Augmentation procedure or the Rebirth Procedure, if we go by the name the others pick for that process.
Now the guardian doubles in size, and we can rotate the guard duty to get an optimum sleep schedule. The downside is the increase in food consumption, which I have already handled by expanding the food farm and the water collector.
We are fighting so much that I received an achievement that I thought would take a long time to achieve. Well, two of them.
Congratulations! You manage to kill 1000 Infected! You receive one Gold Ticket
Congratulations! You manage to kill 5000 Infected! You receive two Gold Tickets
Three Gold Tickets. However, while that is good, the lack of a 'special' infection makes me slightly concerned. Don't get me wrong. I am grateful for the lack of special infected because those infected are already tough enough to kill. Their so-called blessing makes them hard to kill, and it looks like it is getting stronger by the day.
Each day, they are harder to kill. We need to shoot any infected who are down just to make sure they are dead. We almost lost a few people because the infected were luring us by faking their deaths.
I need to do something to ensure they cannot reach our base either by number or sheer firepower. I need the blueprint of the bolter, or at least its variant. It would be even better if I could scan one of the turrets I know is located somewhere in this hive. I remember a mission where we were trying to take over a cargo from the Supply Yard for the Tech Priest. Sadly, I know that place will be hard to breach because the heretic will fortify that area to prevent the imperium from taking over.
I shake my head and open my system. Let's hope there is something useful for me to use.
I press the roll button and wait. After a few seconds, it stops and reveals my new power.
[Butcher's Bag of Infinite Meat]
Common Item
A bag containing a limitless amount of fresh meat inside of itself, you can only take 100kg of meat out of it every 24 hours; it contains meat from all mundane animals from earth in all cuts, all of it clean, not ethically sourced. Just plunge your hand into the bag of meat, think of what you want, and ignore the implication of infinite meat and its source.
This one is good because eating nothing but algae paste for our protein is not something I want. We can put that algae paste into an emergency food instead of making it a staple food. It is a common item, but valuable.
I press the roll button and wait.
[Cure]
Rare Ability
You are capable of healing others and yourself by expending your energy. The scale of healing you perform depends on the amount of energy you expend; the more lethal a wound is, the greater the energy you need to expend. Healing effectiveness is dependent on the power difference between you and the target.
This one is great for treating a gunshot wound. Because of the augmentation, the gunshot wound the other receives can heal on its own. However, with this, I can accelerate the process faster, and something that I can use in battle to make the others keep fighting.
Having a healer in the party will increase morale, after all.
I press the roll button once again and use my last ticket.
[Enlarge]
Elite Ability
Allows you to enlarge whatever target you touch; this effect can be both permanent or temporary, with permanence taking much more energy. The more energy an object possesses, the harder and more costly it will be to enhance.
This power is excellent. Fantastic, even. With this, I can expand energy production by making solar panels bigger. Or, I could enlarge the water collector machine to produce more water. I can enlarge a chunk of metal permanently and harvest the metal for triple or even quadruple the normal amount.
With this, I do not need to worry about raw materials as I can enlarge and harvest some of them, then enlarge them again. At least that is the theory. I don't know if the already enlarged object will restart after being harvested or continue the previous spell. If it is the former, I found an infinite material exploit, but if this is the latter, it only helps me because enlarging the already enlarged material will cost too much energy.
"My lord."
I snap from my thoughts and see Kian walk toward me.
"We are done burning all the body, my lord! Shall we return?"
I look around and nod my head.
"Yes. We shall–"
However, before I can complete my sentences, Canto shows me something.
{Kael, we have a problem. A group of humans is coming here, and the people from the Cult of Admonition are chasing after them. They are coming from the northeast side of the blind area.}
'How many of them? The humans and the cult.'
{There are around fifty humans. Twenty of them are children. They are running. The one chasing after them is a cult holding melee weapons, but they are wearing metal armor. There are around thirty of them. I cannot count their exact number from the camera feed.}
'Show me the direction from the map we made before the blackout.'
{Sending them now.}
I can see the map in the corner of my vision and see Kian and the others look at me curiously. They already accept that I sometimes do that, and are more than willing to wait for me to be done.
"We need to get moving. There is a group of humans running from the cult. The cult holds nothing but melee, but they wear armor. We will do a rescue mission."
I take a deep breath and continue.
"I need twelve of you to return to inform the other and secure the base; the rest come with me."
The others nod and follow my command. Twelve of us walk through the dark tunnel with our night vision. We are the hunters in this part of the hive, and they will fear us.

For you guys who don't know, I took a loan to pay for all the funeral expenses, and I need to pay quite a bit for the first installment. I don't have enough money to pay for rent, the electric bill, and food, alongside that monthly payment. I need your help to pay for the first few payments so I have enough savings to pay the rest without risking my family and me going starving or not paying rent.
For anyone who wants to help me, you can go to my Ko-fi: Ko-fi.com/fangrove
I post the Warhammer: Darktide fanfic there as well. There are at least 5 chapters in there!
