"Tenra Kamiyo, this gift is far too precious—I can't accept it."
Sona drew a deep breath, steadying herself as the shock faded. Her voice was calm, but her eyes betrayed lingering disbelief.
If it were a normal present, she might have considered it. But Tenra was offering her Divine Dividing—the White Dragon Emperor's wings. A Longinus. Temptation was real, but her pride wouldn't let her take it.
She'd never liked owing favors, and this… this was a debt she could never repay.
Tenra shrugged, undeterred. "Don't be so quick to refuse. I explained my Sacred Gear's ability before—I shared Boosted Gear with Rias, so I want to share Divine Dividing with you."
"Red Dragon and White Dragon, Rias Gremory and Sona Sitri. You two are rivals by fate—it's only fitting, don't you think?"
"I won't accept it."
"If you're worried about owing me, don't. I share White Dragon's power, you help me develop the Longinus's abilities. It's mutual benefit."
"I won't accept it."
"Really? Not even tempted, President? With this, you'd finally have the power to stand against Rias. It's not fair if she's the only one with a Longinus."
"I won't accept it."
"…"
No matter how Tenra reasoned or pleaded, Sona's answer never changed.
Yubelluna and Tsubaki watched, caught between laughter and exasperation. Even Tenra had to admit—Sona's iron will in the face of a Longinus was impressive. But mostly, he was—
Frustrated.
"I said you can have it, so you can! No more refusals!"
His patience snapped. Before Sona could protest, Tenra pressed his palm to her chest and forced the Sacred Gear into her body.
"Ugh—"
Sona gasped, caught off guard. Fury flashed across her face as she started to shout—but then, power erupted inside her, and her anger dissolved into a scream of pain.
"Ahhh—!"
The power of the Heavenly Dragons was overwhelming. Rias had suffered when she'd fused with Boosted Gear, and Tenra's method with Sona was anything but gentle. Her agony was worse, by far.
Tenra winced, regretting his impulsiveness. But Sona was strong—she'd endure. He hoped.
"Sona-sama!"
Tsubaki and the others rushed forward, panic in their eyes. Yubelluna held them back, voice steady.
"Don't worry. Tenra-sama is sharing the Sacred Gear's power with Sona-sama. She'll be fine soon."
The girls hesitated, anxious but powerless to help. All they could do was watch as Sona's cries echoed through the garden.
The fusion continued, Sona's aura climbing higher and higher. As one of the Underworld's prodigies, she'd already been a step away from Ultimate-Class. Now, with Divine Dividing merging into her soul, she shattered that final barrier.
Winds whipped around her, energy surging wildly. Tenra activated his Reality Marble, shielding the garden from the storm.
Minutes passed. The process reached its peak. Sona's face was ghostly pale, her body trembling. Tenra's fists clenched—had he gone too far?
"AAAAAAH!"
With a final scream, a pillar of light burst skyward. When it faded, a pair of deep blue wings unfurled behind Sona, shimmering with power.
Divine Dividing was hers.
Sona collapsed, gasping, sweat-soaked and spent. The pain had been like nothing she'd ever known—she truly thought she'd die.
"Sona-sama!"
Her servants rushed to her side. Tsubaki and the Bishops cast healing magic, their hands gentle and careful.
Tenra hovered nearby, guilt gnawing at him. He caught Yubelluna's eye, signaling his intent to slip away.
He managed two steps.
"Stop right there, Tenra Kamiyo!"
Tenra froze, turning robotically. Sona had pushed her servants aside, eyes icy, stride unsteady but menacing.
Even battered and pale, she was terrifying.
"Uh, Sona, I know apologizing now is pointless, but—"
She didn't let him finish. Her fist drove into his stomach.
"Ugh—!"
Tenra doubled over, grimacing.
He deserved it.
"That's your punishment for sharing the Sacred Gear without my consent—and for making me suffer through pain I'll never forget!"
Sona glared down at him, regal even in exhaustion.
"I'm still angry, but dragging this out would be petty. Tenra Kamiyo, I'll accept the White Dragon's power."
Tenra straightened, clutching his stomach, voice weak. "Sona-sama accepting my humble gift fills me with boundless gratitude…"
His expression was so dejected that Yubelluna and Tsubaki couldn't help but laugh. Even Sona's lips twitched, a hint of amusement softening her features.
Days later—
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Above the Sitri family training grounds, two silver-white streaks clashed in the sky.
A burst of fire exploded. The lights shot earthward, resolving into two figures—both armored, both bearing deep blue wings. One imposing, one elegant.
Tenra and Sona.
"Not bad, Sona. You mastered Balance Breaker fast."
Tenra dismissed his armor, genuine admiration in his voice.
To help her adapt to the White Dragon's power, he'd coached her day and night. Like Rias before her, Sona achieved Balance Breaker in mere days.
"With guidance from the gear's true owner, failing would be unforgivable."
Sona dismissed her armor, voice cool. Sweat glistened on her skin, breath coming in soft pants—a rare vulnerability beneath her usual frost.
Tenra found himself staring, then quickly looked away. "You've got the basics down. From here, it's all practice. You don't need my help anymore."
"I've imposed long enough. It's time I left."
Sona's eyes flickered, emotions briefly surfacing before she masked them. "When?"
"I'll say goodbye to your parents, then head out. I promised Rias and the others I'd meet up soon."
"I understand."
