"You really are a lousy sister, Kuroka—look how much pain you've put Koneko-chan through."
Tenra cradled the unconscious Koneko in his arms, eyes fixed on Kuroka.
"Hmph. My problems are none of your business."
Kuroka's glare was icy, her tone sharp. Tenra wasn't Koneko—he wouldn't get any sympathy from her.
"Heh, but you're the bad woman who happens to be Koneko-chan's sister. That makes it my business whether you like it or not."
"So tell me—why did you kill the devil who took you and Koneko in? I've always been curious about that."
Tenra's voice was light, almost playful, but Kuroka shot him a look that could curdle milk. She didn't even bother answering.
Oh, you're curious so I have to spill my guts? Who do you think you are?
"What, cat got your tongue? Don't forget—Koneko-chan is in my hands."
"If you won't satisfy my curiosity, I might have to do… unspeakable things to her."
Tenra's words were pure villainy, and he even leaned down to inhale the scent of the girl in his arms, wearing an expression of bliss.
"Shirone isn't one of you?!"
Kuroka's composure cracked, shock flickering across her face.
What the hell is this guy doing—threatening me with Shirone? Is he for real?
"Of course, Koneko-chan is with us. She's family. She's our precious companion."
Tenra nodded, but then his lips curled into a wicked grin.
"But so what?"
"Kuroka, you're a bad woman—but you're hardly the only villain in this world. Turns out I'm one too. You should know how people like us operate—when it comes to our goals, anything goes."
"So. Tell me why you killed that devil, or I'll have to take things further with Koneko-chan."
"She's unconscious right now, you know. Even if I did something, she wouldn't remember a thing…"
Tenra's words were so despicable that even Ni and Li stared at him in disbelief.
Oh my god, Tenra-sama is such a scoundrel, nya!
"You think I'm that easy to fool?"
Kuroka's eyes narrowed, lips curling into a cold smile. She wasn't about to be played.
"Arrogant, aren't you? Let me show you how serious I am."
Tenra didn't bother arguing. He stroked Koneko's cheek, then bent down and kissed her lips.
He'd tasted her countless times last night, but Koneko-chan's sweetness was still intoxicating.
Unlike Tenra, who reveled in it, Kuroka was frozen in shock. She never imagined he'd actually go that far.
Wasn't Shirone his companion? His family? This bastard—this liar!
When Tenra started to reach for Koneko's clothes, Kuroka snapped back to life, voice ringing out in fury.
"Stop! Stop it right now!"
Tenra paused, reluctantly lifting his head and licking his lips.
"Well? Do you believe me now?"
"You bastard!"
"Hahaha… thanks for the compliment!"
"Come on, Kuroka. Satisfy my curiosity, or I'll just keep going."
Tenra's smug, hateful expression made Kuroka's blood boil. She swore to herself that one day, she'd make him pay for this.
But for now, she had to swallow her pride—for Shirone's sake.
"That guy—he only took me and Shirone in because he saw our potential. He wanted to use us."
Kuroka's voice was low, bitter.
"Yeah, you really think there are that many kind-hearted people in the world? If you weren't useful, no one would bother. I never take in strays, either."
Tenra nodded, surprisingly approving.
Kuroka grimaced. As much as she hated to admit it, he had a point.
"That would've been tolerable, but that bastard wanted my body. Tried to force himself on me."
Her face twisted with disgust at the memory.
"So you killed him?"
Tenra's eyebrows shot up.
"Yeah. I hate scum who think being master means they can do whatever they want to their servants. So I killed him."
"My first time taking a life, but it felt… good. Even now, I can't help but remember him groveling at my feet, begging for mercy. My heart still races. Hehehe…"
Kuroka's laugh was dark and cold, seductive and bloodthirsty all at once.
"A devil who tries to force himself on his own servant… What a pathetic excuse for a master."
"But why not tell Koneko-chan? If she knew the truth, she'd understand. She'd know you weren't betraying her—you were protecting her."
Tenra's question was gentle, almost puzzled.
"Hmph. I just didn't want Shirone to know about those shameful things. Is that a problem?"
Her eyes flickered, but she quickly regained her composure.
"No problem at all, but—"
"You think I'm stupid?"
Tenra's tone was mocking, eyes glinting. Without warning, he began kissing Koneko again.
"Damn it! Stop! I said stop!"
Kuroka hadn't expected her lie to be seen through so easily. Panic flashed across her face.
"I'm not here for your stories. Last chance—tell me the truth, or…"
Tenra's voice was ice. With a flick of his finger, Koneko's clothes split open, exposing a sliver of pale skin.
"Bastard… just you wait…"
Kuroka's face was ugly with rage, but she had no choice. If she didn't talk, Shirone would really be at Tenra's mercy.
She drew a shaky breath.
"That bastard was a complete pervert. He didn't really want me—he wanted Shirone."
"Shirone was just a kid, but that monster… he wanted to do unspeakable things to her."
"Unforgivable. I couldn't let him live. Anyone who tries to hurt Shirone deserves to die. Every single one."
By now, Kuroka's face was twisted, her aura dark and cold.
"Oh… So you didn't kill your master because you lost control or craved power. You did it to protect Koneko-chan."
Tenra's lips curled into a smile.
"Hmph. Those rumors about me going berserk—they're just lies spread by his family to cover up their shame."
Kuroka spat the words out, voice bitter.
"I never imagined this was the real story. Honestly, I'm surprised."
"So why not tell Koneko-chan? If she knew, she'd understand. She'd know you never betrayed her—everything you did was for her sake."
Tenra pressed on. Kuroka twitched, exasperated. He just wouldn't let it go.
She wanted to kick him into next week, but she was trapped. Her weakness was in his hands.
"Shirone is kind and gentle. She doesn't show it, but I know her better than anyone. If she found out, she'd blame herself. She'd think it was all her fault."
"So you chose darkness to protect your sister. And to spare Koneko-chan the guilt, you bore everything alone?"
Tenra's voice was half-mocking, half-awed.
"Wow, Kuroka—do you have to be so noble? Even I'm almost moved."
Kuroka glared at him, teeth grinding.
"Happy now?"
"Very. That's one hell of a story."
"I've told you everything. Please—keep this between us. I don't want Shirone to know."
But Tenra only grinned.
"Oh, about that… you're too late."
Kuroka froze, then whipped her head around. In Tenra's arms, Shirone was awake—tears streaming down her face as she stared at her sister.
