Inside the hotel, the summit of gods was underway. But on the rooftop, Tenra, Rias, Sona, and their assembled peerages waited, tense and ready.
The night wind whipped across the rooftop, carrying a chill that seeped into their bones. Patrols of divine servants soared overhead, scanning the darkness for any sign of trouble.
Tenra sat cross-legged, eyes closed in meditation—until, in a single instant, his eyes snapped open.
"They're here."
As his words echoed, the air above the hotel twisted violently, then split apart, revealing a gaping black rift.
From the void, a silver-haired man in a sweeping cloak strode forth, standing atop the massive head of a gray wolf.
Loki—the Evil God. And beneath him, the infamous Fenrir.
"Attack!!!"
The defenders reacted instantly. Hundreds of divine servants shot skyward, converging on Loki and Fenrir like a storm.
Loki didn't flinch. With a cold, amused smile, he snapped his fingers.
Fenrir's jaws split open. The wolf unleashed a roar so monstrous it seemed to shake reality itself.
"ROOOAAARRR!!!"
The blast of sound hit like a shockwave. Divine servants were sent tumbling, blood spraying from their mouths as they crashed back to earth. The magical barriers protecting the hotel flickered, buckled, and nearly shattered under the sonic assault.
A single roar—and the battlefield was nearly cleared.
Tenra's voice cut through the chaos. "Rias! Sona!"
"Understood!" Both responded in perfect sync.
Without hesitation, the girls triggered the massive transfer magic they'd prepared. A shimmering barrier enveloped Loki, Fenrir, Tenra, and the others. Loki watched the spell take hold, smiling as if amused by their efforts—he didn't resist.
A flash of light. In an instant, everyone within the barrier vanished.
—
When Tenra and the girls opened their eyes, they stood on a vast, empty plain—a pocket dimension carved out for this battle. Against an enemy like Loki, fighting in the human world would have meant devastation on a catastrophic scale.
Loki, still perched atop Fenrir's head, looked down on the assembled defenders with a regal sneer.
"All young faces. State your names—your courage alone is worthy of praise."
Tenra stepped forward, voice steady. "Tenra Kamiyo."
"Rias Gremory."
"Sona Sitri."
The others formed up behind them, tense and wary, eyes locked on Loki and the monstrous wolf.
Gasper had begged to join the fight after hearing about Loki from Azazel, but Tenra had refused. Against enemies this powerful, Gasper's Evil Eye was useless—worse, he'd be a liability. Ravel, not suited for combat, was left at home as well.
Loki nodded, eyes flicking from one face to the next. "I see. The sister of Maou Sirzechs Lucifer, the sister of Maou Serafall Leviathan, and—"
He smirked. "The Phoenix clan's miracle child, the one who seized the power of the Two Heavenly Dragons. Not bad, for a bunch of brats. You'll do as opponents—barely."
He'd heard of them, clearly. But reputation meant little to Loki. When his name was legend, these upstarts' parents hadn't even been born.
Tenra tried diplomacy, voice firm but not hostile. "Loki-dono, we don't wish to be your enemies. Why not withdraw? There's no need for bloodshed."
Loki's expression hardened. "Impossible. Odin is a traitor, and I will see him destroyed. I'll show those angels, fallen angels, devils, and Eastern impostors the true might of the Norse gods. Anyone who stands in my way is my enemy."
He swept his hand, dismissing Tenra's offer without a second thought.
Rossweisse, clad in her Valkyrie battle armor, stepped forward, voice ringing. "Loki-sama, please—stop this madness! The Norse gods need peace, not war and destruction!"
Loki sneered. "A mere battle maiden dares lecture a god? You're a traitor, Rossweisse—just like Odin."
He turned to Fenrir. "Bite her to death."
With a thunderous snarl, Fenrir lunged. Tenra barked, "Scatter!" and the defenders leapt aside, breaking formation just in time.
Tenra glared at Loki, all pretense gone. "You may be a powerful god, and Fenrir a legendary monster, but do you really think you have us beaten?"
Loki laughed, the sound echoing through the empty space. "You're right—a swarm of ants can kill an elephant if there are enough of them."
His eyes turned ice-cold. "Let me show you my children."
He raised his hands, summoning two swirling circles of magic.
"Come forth—Sköll, Hati!"
Space warped on either side of Loki. With guttural growls, two more gray wolves—each as massive as Fenrir—emerged, their eyes burning with primal hunger.
Three Fenrirs. The defenders stared in shock.
Loki's smile widened. "These are the offspring of a giantess from the Iron Wood, transformed into a wolf and mated with Fenrir. They may not match their father's strength, but they possess the most important trait—God-Slaying Fangs. More than enough to bury you and those false gods."
Tenra's jaw tightened. "You really went all out, Loki."
Loki's eyes gleamed. "You think that's all?"
He spun, weaving more summoning circles into the air. From the swirling magic, five enormous serpentine beasts slithered forth—each dozens of meters long, scales gleaming with gray, destructive energy. Their roars shook the sky as they coiled and circled above.
"Midgardsormr… No, that aura—"
Tenra's eyes narrowed. He realized the truth. "They're not the real Midgardsormr."
Loki laughed. "Sharp, brat. These are mass-produced Midgardsormr—lesser copies, but each is as strong as an Ultimate-Class Devil."
He spread his arms, triumphant. "Now do you see the difference between us?"
"Fenrir, Sköll, Hati, and five mass-produced Midgardsormr. Tell me—what will you use to stop me?"
His laughter echoed, wild and merciless.
