"DXD: Infinite Loot System"Chapter 287: You've Grown Up
"Tenra Kamiyo, Rias—what are you doing here?"
The voice was thick with surprise as Sairaorg stepped into the hospital room. He visited often, given his mother's condition, but he hadn't expected to find Rias and Tenra here today.
The butler quickly composed himself and explained the situation.
Sairaorg listened, then nodded, gratitude softening his features. "I see. Thank you, both of you."
Tenra raised a hand. "Don't thank us yet. I'm not even sure I can help."
Sairaorg's grateful look only made the pressure build. Tenra didn't want to promise miracles.
But Sairaorg just laughed, clapping Tenra's shoulder—a gesture that felt like being hit with a sledgehammer. "If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. I'll never stop searching for a way to heal Mother, no matter how long it takes. But your willingness to try means everything to me."
Tenra nodded, feeling the weight of Sairaorg's hope. "Alright. I'll give it my best shot."
He added, "Just so you know—my Sacred Gear can heal, but it's useless against viruses."
Sairaorg shook his head. "That's not a problem. We've already purged the infection. The doctors say her spirit is nearly spent. If it doesn't recover, she may never wake."
He sighed, shoulders slumping. "You know how it is—spirit and soul are far trickier than the body. Even the best healers have no solution."
Tenra's eyes sharpened. "If it's just spiritual exhaustion, I might be able to help…"
Sairaorg seized Tenra's shoulders, hands like steel clamps. "Are you serious?!"
Tenra winced. "Easy, easy! Let me try first."
Sairaorg quickly let go, sheepish. Years of chasing miracle cures had left him desperate—now, hope flickered again.
Tenra approached the bedside. Rias, Ravel, the butler, and Sairaorg gathered around, holding their breath. Tenra exhaled slowly, then summoned his Sacred Gear's power.
Ever since Asia unlocked her Balance Breaker, [Twilight Healing] could mend the spirit itself. He'd used it before, when Diodora's magic left Semiria and the others mentally shattered. If Lady Misla's problem was truly spiritual depletion, this should work.
A luminous figure took shape above the bed—a vision of the Holy Mother, radiant and serene, echoing Asia's gentle presence. At Tenra's command, the apparition dissolved into a cascade of emerald light, enveloping Lady Misla.
Tenra could feel it—the woman's spirit was a flickering candle, nearly gone. But with each pulse of his Sacred Gear, the flame grew stronger, fed by his own power.
"It's working!" Sairaorg exclaimed, voice trembling as his mother's eyelids fluttered.
Rias, Ravel, and the butler watched in stunned delight. Tenra felt relief wash over him—at least it was having an effect.
He poured more energy in, drawing on reserves that dwarfed even most Maou-level devils. Spiritual wounds were notoriously hard to heal; even with his strength, it was draining. By the time he finished, Tenra was slick with sweat, breath ragged.
No wonder Asia always looked exhausted after healing everyone. This was every bit as taxing as a battle.
The room fell silent. Slowly, Lady Misla's eyes opened.
"M-Mother…" Sairaorg's voice was hoarse as he reached for her hand, his whole body shaking.
"Sairaorg… you've grown up…" Her voice was barely a whisper, but her gaze was clear, full of warmth and recognition. Even after years of sleep, she knew her son in an instant.
Just those simple words broke Sairaorg. Tears streamed down his face as he clung to her hand. The butler dabbed at his own eyes, overcome.
She was awake. Lady Misla had come back.
Tenra felt a surge of joy for Sairaorg, but this moment belonged to mother and son. He caught Rias's and Ravel's eyes, and the three quietly slipped out, leaving them alone.
Once outside, Rias let out a shaky breath. "I can't believe it. Aunt Misla… she's finally awake."
Ravel nodded, wiping her eyes. "She's suffered so much…"
Even in the hallway, the girls couldn't stop crying. Tenra, a little overwhelmed, just kept handing them tissues.
After a moment, he grinned. "Rias, I did cure your aunt. Don't forget to ask your mother for our reward when we get home. You'd better study hard under her guidance."
Rias flushed, shooting him a glare. "You never forget these things, do you?"
Embarrassed but grateful, she finally relented. "Fine. Since you helped Aunt, I'll ask Mother to teach me."
Tenra's smile widened. Jackpot. Once Rias learned those legendary "bedroom techniques" from Venelana, he was in for a treat.
Ravel, finally composed, piped up. "Onii-sama, what are you two talking about?"
Tenra ruffled her hair. "You're still too young for that, Ravel. Don't worry about it."
She pouted, but judging by the blush on her cheeks—and the glance she shot at Rias—she could guess more than she let on.
