But this public bet would corner them, forcing their hand. Soon, she'd finally be free of that headache.
With a satisfied smile, she turned and started walking toward the university gates.
But before she could go far, Riley stepped forward and blocked her path.
"Wait! You can't just leave it at that. Tell us where you're going!"
Lana smirked and mimed zipping her lips shut. "Not telling," she teased. "You can call me ungrateful all you want."
And with that, she walked off in a good mood, her steps light and almost playful.
Annoyed, Brenda and Riley decided to follow her. Since Lana had refused to say what department she belonged to, they figured they might at least find out by tailing her.
However, after following her in two full circles around the campus, they began to realize something was wrong.
Lana wasn't heading toward any particular classroom, and she was moving far too leisurely, as though leading them on purpose.
