Chapter 139 - 139. Moonlight

The female ogre grinned, a glistening trickle of saliva dripping from the corner of her mouth.

Snap!

Porgirl's club fell to the ground.

Alan looked down at her, his tone gentle.

"My name is Pretty Boy. What's your name?"

"Porgirl! Porgirl from Abala Farm!"

The female ogre squeezed her sturdy thighs together, wringing her hands, a look of embarrassment on her face.

"Porgirl, I have some honey bread. Want some?"

"Yes!"

"Help me fight the thieves, and I'll give you plenty of honey bread."

"Yes!"

Porngirl nodded repeatedly, her face obedient.

Blanca sensed something was amiss and shouted, "Punch! Don't fall for his trick!"

"Kill him! I'll give you double the honey bread!"

Punch seemed to react, bending down to pick up the club.

"Huh..."

Blanca breathed a sigh of relief and leaned against the second-floor window, wiping the sweat from her face and chuckling to herself.

"Hmph! Stupid she-ogre..."

Punch suddenly turned, swung her arm, and the club flew out of her hand, smashing into the second-floor window!

"Ahhh!"

Blanca screamed and fell back into the house.

Blown by the club, blood streamed down her face, and she passed out.

"Hmph! Bandit leader, do you really think I'm stupid?!"

Punk wiped her saliva fiercely, her face full of disdain:

"Honey bread is nice, but Punk... I prefer the handsome brother!"

...

After the battle in the camp, Kelly and Allen interrogated Blanca.

The only thing about this man who could be considered a hero was his willingness to avoid immediate loss.

Blanca's confession revealed that the mastermind behind the assassination was Anna and Arthur's uncle, General Gondolfo Magnolia!

The motive was easy to guess.

General Gondolfo believed he was more qualified to inherit the title than his nephew and niece.

Additionally, his command of the military naturally fueled his ambitions.

The assassination attempt on the siblings failed to materialize.

Alan could foresee that the ambitious General Gondorff would not give up.

But that was a matter for the future.

It was already late, and it was time to end tonight's meditation.

In the bedroom, Alan and his sister opened their eyes simultaneously.

They smiled at each other.

"Happy working together!" Kelly high-fived her brother.

"Happy working together, but that's all," Alan said to his sister. "Kelly, I think you need to change your ancestral spirit."

"Why change?" Kelly's eyes widened in confusion. "I love this ancestral spirit! Baron Mulan, disguised as a man. I want to continue experiencing her life!"

"I like it too, but at your current level, it's a little too early to experience all that." Alan shook his head and smiled bitterly.

If he hadn't been there today, his sister wouldn't have been able to get past the Porgirl level alone.

"Anna Magnolia's life is about to change dramatically. You might not be able to handle the troubles she faces now."

"Don't you have my help?"

Kelly pouted and burrowed into her brother's arms.

She twisted and turned, acting like a spoiled child.

"My assistance is secondary. Cultivation depends primarily on one's own efforts."

Alan gently embraced his sister's lithe waist and warned her gravely, "If you don't work hard and just rely on yourself, even if I help you clear more ancestral memories, you won't be able to level up."

"Okay, I'll listen to you." Kelly nodded obediently. "Tomorrow I'll switch to an ancestral spirit with a lower starting point. If I encounter any difficulties I really can't overcome, I'll ask you for help."

"A true lady!" Alan smiled and patted her head.

"Alas, I loved Anna's story so much. It's a pity to give up halfway." Kelly sighed, her eyes filled with disappointment.

"Meditation methods above the first level all have the function of selecting ancestral spirits and continuing the process," Allen reassured his sister. "When you become stronger, it won't be too late to merge with Anna's ancestral spirit again and continue to experience her life."

"Yes! I will redouble my efforts in my practice. I believe that day will come soon!"

Kelly squeezed her brother's hand firmly, feeling revitalized.

September 15th, another full moon night.

Kelly has been feeling a bit irritated lately.

Especially tonight. The overly bright moonlight outside the window made her feel restless and irritable, and she felt like losing her temper for no reason.

Kelly barely managed to control her anger.

She wondered why she had been so irritable these past two days.

Is it because her period is coming, or has something gone wrong with her practice?

She wanted to talk to her brother.

However, Allen had been very busy lately, frequently seeing patients.

Human life is at stake; there's nothing more pressing than this.

Kelly felt sorry for her brother.

It was all wrong for her to be unable to help, but it was also unacceptable to bother him over such trivial matters.

After all, she was just feeling irritated for no reason.

It wasn't a serious problem; she should just bear with it.

Maybe it will heal in time.

...

In the evening, the Panthers' tavern welcomed a distinguished guest.

Ms. Sora came to discuss matters with the Allen family.

The mayor had died, and the town council needed to elect a new mayor.

Ms. Sora recommended Allen's father, Amadeus.

Amadeus himself was also tempted, but he needed to consult his wife and children.

Of course, Allen supported his father's appointment.

"Donna, Kelly, what do you think?" Dad asked his wife and eldest daughter.

Alan's mom hesitated.

It's great that her husband is the mayor, but...

"What should we do with the family pub?"

"I've already graduated, and I have nothing to do anyway. Dad can be the mayor, and I'll help Mom run the pub!"

Kelly said cheerfully.

"Alan doesn't care about this shabby little pub. Sooner or later, I'll have to take over."

"Hehe! I've wanted to be the owner for a long time!"

Donna rolled her eyes at her daughter, her face full of disapproval.

"Kelly, didn't you recently awaken your sorcerer bloodline?"

"You have such a promising future as a sorcerer, why are you a tavern owner?!"

"You should just go and train with your brother. That's what it means to be successful!"

Kelly tried to object, but after thinking it over, her mother's words made sense.

If she could become a high-ranking sorceress, why would she still be doing waitressing and serving?

Alan coughed lightly and took over.

"Dad, doesn't your bartenders' guild have apprentices?"

"Our tavern has Mom as the chef, so we can just hire two apprentices as bartenders and two waitresses."

"That's the best idea!" Dad nodded in approval.

"Hiring so many people would cost a fortune..." Mom said with a bitter face, somewhat reluctant.

This amused Ms. Sora.

"My dear sister Donna! Your husband is going to be mayor! Your two children are both sorcerers!"

"You could be a lady, enjoying a comfortable life, but instead you're cooking for people in the kitchen and worrying about the expenses of hiring helpers. I don't know what to say to you!"

Hearing her words, the whole family couldn't help but burst into laughter.

Donna herself found it quite amusing, but she still tried to be stubborn.

"What lady? I'm just an ordinary housewife!"

"I work in the kitchen, not because I'm content with my status!"

"I can't help it. I just love cooking and thinking about delicious dishes!"

"Yes, yes, yes!" Allen echoed. "I know exactly how Mom feels! I think about delicious dishes all day too..."

As the family chatted, a noise came from the front.

Kelly stood up and said to her family and Sora, "Teacher, take your time chatting. I'll go upstairs to see what's going on."

During the plague season, all businesses in town were depressed.

The Panthers' tavern was also doing very little business, with only one table of customers.

Kelly went over to take a look.

It was nothing serious, just two drunks arguing.

Both drunks worked for the Vigilante Corps.

They were close colleagues, good friends, and they often drank together.

One of them had recently lost his wife to the plague, leaving behind a four-year-old boy.

The widower, missing his wife and burdened by raising their young son alone, was under immense pressure.

After a few drinks, he couldn't help but sigh.

As a bachelor, he felt a deep sympathy for his troubles.

He patted his chest, his alcohol taking over! "Brother! Don't worry! I'll cover half of my godson's living expenses!"

"Hey! Brother! No, no, no, that's embarrassing..."

"Brother! If you treat me like a brother, don't be so formal with me! Your son is still my son!"

"Hmm...? What you said... haha, that's quite interesting!"

"Brother... don't overthink it."

"Brother, before her death, your sister-in-law tearfully confessed to me, saying that in her life, she had only done one thing to me. "It's not my fault, please forgive me."

"Brother... Brother! Stop it, please stop!"

"I forgive your sister-in-law for her infidelity!"

"But being a cuckold and raising someone else's son are two completely different things! I just can't stand this!"

"Brother... I didn't! It wasn't me..."

"Truth comes out when you're drunk, brother. Thank you so much!"

The drunk grabbed the bottle, aimed it at the man's head, and smashed it down.

Bang!

Bleeding right there!

Kelly knew if the fight continued, he'd overturn the tables and smash the shop.

She took two quick steps forward to break up the fight.

"Calm down, both of you! If you have any grudges, go out and settle them!"

"Calm down your arse!"

The drunk, seeing blood, grew even more furious, reeking of alcohol as he yelled at Kelly:

"You stinking bitch! None of your business, get out of here!"

Perhaps influenced by her beastly bloodline, Kelly was already irritable on this full-moon night.

The unprovoked scolding had already inflamed her rage, and seeing the drunk about to flip the table, she finally couldn't stand it anymore.

Hound gait!

The girl flashed, appearing in front of the table in an instant.

Bang!

A slap landed on the tabletop!

She forcefully pushed the table back down, the one the drunk had just flipped.

The drunk grabbed the edge of the table with both hands, howling and exerting force.

But the girl's delicate, white hand held it down, holding it firmly in place!

The drunk, enraged, grabbed another empty bottle and started to smash it over Kelly's head!

"You bitch! I'll kill you!"

Kelly's pretty face was icy as she kicked hard under the table.

The drunk staggered, and just as he stood up, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his lower abdomen. Kelly's kick sent him tumbling back into his chair.

The powerful impact sent the chair sliding backward.

With a whoosh, it slid a long way along the floor, slamming hard against the wall.

Bang!

The chair shattered!

The drunk fell onto a pile of broken wood, clutching his stomach, sweat pouring from the pain.

Seeing Kelly approach, a fierce glint flashed in his eyes, and he grabbed the bottle and threw it at her!

Kelly had been watching his movements for a while, and calmly raised her delicate hand.

A whistling burst of energy shot out from his fingertips!

Swish—bang!

The wine bottle, struck by the "finger wave," exploded in mid-air.

The shards of glass brushed past Kelly's cheek, leaving a shallow wound that oozed blood.
