Chapter 148 - 148. The Legend of the Leopard Man

Tarzan Morgan, the doctor's son, is a ten-year-old boy.

This spring, the boy's mother passed away.

The grief of losing his mother left him depressed and unhappy.

Dr. Morgan also missed his late wife, but he also had important scientific research to shoulder.

Balancing work and caring for his son was not easy.

Suddenly, the doctor came up with a brilliant idea: a perfect solution.

Influenced by his father, Tarzan has been interested in wildlife, flora, and folklore since childhood, and has been begging his father to take him abroad on field trips.

This summer vacation offered a perfect opportunity.

To help his son overcome the pain of his mother's death, Dr. Morgan made an exception and agreed to take him on an expedition to the Wakanda rainforest, ensuring he had a memorable summer.

At first, the boy enjoyed this adventure.

Until, near the end of the expedition, trouble struck!

Deep in the jungle, the scientific expedition team was attacked by a pack of black panthers!

Led by their half-breed guide, they narrowly escaped their pursuit.

Only the unfortunate little Tarzan was bitten by the ferocious panthers.

The wound was quickly bandaged and treated.

The bleeding appeared to have stopped and healed, but the boy's condition showed no improvement.

The persistent high fever and mumbling were taking a toll on his brain.

The guide believed the boy might have contracted lycanthropy.

He was given belladonna tincture, but it was ineffective.

The fever worsened, and his life was in danger.

The full moon was approaching.

The boy's blood could boil at any moment, transforming into a mad beast.

For the team's safety, this ticking time bomb must be isolated!

Dr. Morgan refused to abandon his son and insisted on staying with him.

The cold, strong, half-blooded guide knocked Dr. Morgan unconscious and forcibly took the boy away.

The guide was half indigenous, having grown up in a rainforest tribe.

He carried the feverish, unconscious boy back to his homeland, seeking treatment from a wise shaman.

This was the boy's last hope.

The old woman, her face covered in tattoos and wrinkles, a necklace of baby skulls dangling around her neck, looked at the boy, shook her head, and sighed.

"Is there little hope?" the guide asked.

"There's almost no hope," the old woman said calmly. "Go back and tell his father the boy is dead, and don't worry about him anymore."

The guide sighed and turned away.

Back on the boat, to dissuade the doctor, the guide explained that the boy was dead and his body had been thrown into the river.

Presumably, he'd been eaten by crocodiles.

Dr. Morgan wailed.

With a broken heart, he left this sad place.

…

Back in the indigenous tribe, the old woman hadn't completely given up.

The shaman woman's worship wasn't solely due to her pretense.

In reality, she was a beastman.

Using a needle sharpened from fish bones, she administered an infusion to the unconscious boy in a primitive manner.

Injecting a bloodline awakening agent.

The old woman hadn't held out much hope, merely trying a last-ditch effort.

But then a miracle happened.

In the nightmare induced by a high fever, the boy learned the "calming meditation method," suppressing the beast virus and miraculously surviving!

From that day on, the boy from the city lived in the indigenous village, learning martial arts and magic from the shaman woman.

The beastly bloodline continued to evolve as the boy grew older.

Soon, the boy's beastly powers awakened.

He often transformed into a black panther and hunted in the forest.

Occasionally, he would collaborate with local indigenous hunters to hunt larger, more formidable beasts.

The boy's power earned him the hunters' admiration.

The legend of him spread throughout the indigenous tribes, becoming increasingly bizarre.

Even the colonists who established a trading post at the river's mouth heard of this panther-man named "Tarzan," who lurked in and out of the jungle.

…

Five years later.

An expedition arrived in the rainforest.

The team consisted of twenty people, but only one was female.

She wore hunting clothes, high boots, a deerstalker hat, and carried a copper-framed telescope.

This dashing, blond beauty was the expedition's sponsor and leader, Arcadia von Mainz.

Arcadia, a sixteen-year-old student at the Faculty of Folklore and Natural History at the University of Kachen, is deeply interested in rainforest ecology and indigenous folk culture.

This summer, this adventurous noblewoman, at her own expense, joined a tour group and journeyed to the long-desired jungle of Wakanda.

While hiring a guide at the River Mouth Trading Post, Arcadia first heard the legend of "Tarzan the Panther Man."

Tarzan is a handsome young man who can transform into a black panther.

Not only that, the Panther Man is said to be kind and full of justice.

He often helps the indigenous people hunt wild beasts and fight against evil demihumans.

Even colonists lost in the jungle have received his help on numerous occasions.

Miss Arcadia immediately developed a strong interest in this "noble savage."

So, she capriciously revised her expedition plan, deciding to make the search for the Panther Man her top priority.

Most of the other team members were skeptical.

However, there was no choice; she was the boss, and she had the final say.

During the expedition, they discovered the footprints of a large cat.

It was walking upright!

This discovery excited Arcadia.

Based on her professional knowledge, she concluded that a large cat walking upright was most likely the legendary leopard man.

With great anticipation, Arcadia led the team in tracking the leopard man's tracks.

From the dim forest, faint insect chirps occasionally wafted through.

A faint fragrance lingered in the air.

At first, everyone, including Arcadia, thought the floral scent was pleasant.

As they continued walking, the fragrance grew stronger.

The fragrance was so overwhelming that it made them dizzy.

They could even detect a faint fishy odor. The guide was the first to realize the situation was dire and hurriedly urged everyone to cover their mouths and noses and retreat the way they had come!

It was too late.

A sudden gust of wind blew through the dense forest.

The fragrance of flowers grew stronger, carrying with it.

To be exact, it couldn't even be called a fragrance.

It was a suffocating stench!

Like a rotting corpse!

The stench was mingled with toxins.

The expedition members unknowingly breathed it in and passed out one after another.

Only Arcadia remained somewhat conscious.

This noble lady's courage to venture deep into the dense forest wasn't simply due to pampering and willfulness.

Her family inherited the bloodline of the "Angel of Vengeance."

"Arcadia Celestial Avenger" was the origin of her name.

Arcadia had awakened her angelic bloodline, reaching the late second stage of cultivation.

Under normal circumstances, a poisonous monster would be no match for her.

Unfortunately, Arcadia, born into a wealthy family, lacked experience in wilderness exploration, and due to a moment of carelessness, she fell prey to an ambush.

Just as she struggled to fight the dizziness caused by the poison, a rustling sound came from the forest.

A gigantic corpse-scented arum slowly crawled towards them, trailing its vines.

This monster's flower stood nearly three meters tall.

Its thick, vibrant red petals exuded a foul odor.

A flock of bats surrounded the stinking flowers, pollinating them.

The corpse-scented arum required a large amount of nutrients during its flowering season.

Living prey was precisely its favorite meal.

Spreading its fragrance, it stuns its prey. Then, it unfurls its vines, dragging the prey toward it, crushing its bones and piling them beneath its roots.

Like composting.

The tropical rainforest climate causes corpses to rot rapidly.

The corpse-scented amorphophallus sinks its roots into the decaying corpse, greedily absorbing the nutrient-rich fluids from muscle breakdown.

This is how it feeds.

Arcadia awakens her detoxification spell, but her consciousness is hazy, unable to focus on casting the spell and detoxifying herself.

As the stinking, strange flower approaches, two vines have already entangled the legs of the nearest expedition member, dragging them backwards.

Arcadia knows that if she can't hold on, the entire expedition will be wiped out.

The girl musters her strength, holding onto the tree trunk, and slowly rises.

Giving her all, she activated her second-stage atavism!

A holy light emanated from Arcadia's body!

When the light faded, her appearance had completely changed.

Her golden hair had turned silver.

A metal mask obscured her face, revealing a pair of bright eyes.

The magnificent knight's armor and the gleaming wings behind her seemed cast from silver!

Arcadia's angelic form resembled a tall, muscular silver sculpture, radiating a holy light!

However, she was not a true metal construct.

The angelic form could only temporarily suppress the toxins.

Arcadia still felt dizzy and unable to concentrate on her spells.

She knew she had little time left.

She had to act swiftly!

The angel raised her hands, silently praying for the blessing of her ancestors.

Silver light flickered from her palms, and two balls of liquid metal slowly gushed out.

Extending upward, they took the shape of long swords.

Arcadia, wielding both silver swords, rushed towards the corpse-scented amorphophallus.

Swish!

Amidst the sound of breaking wind, swords flashed!

Two vines, severed instantly!

Arcadia raised both swords horizontally, their hilts touching, attracting each other like magnets.

The two one-handed swords combined into a double-headed sword.

Arcadia twirled the hilts with both hands.

The double-headed sword whirled and swirled before her, like a silver windmill.

She severed all the vines that continued to extend from her.

In a flash, the vines surrounding the animated corpse-scented amorphophallus were shaved clean by the storm of sword blades!

The animated corpse amorphophallus slowly retreated.

She was frightened and wanted to flee!

Arcadia gritted her teeth, a murderous intent flashing in her eyes!

She couldn't let this strange flower go!

Otherwise, when she was exhausted and passed out...

What if this monster came back and attacked again?!

While she could still fight, she had to annihilate it completely and eliminate the threat forever!

Arcadia drew on her magic power, imbuing her double-headed sword with the angels' signature secret technique—the Holy Slash.

The silver blade shone brightly!

The divine energy, as if it had substance!

Arcadia raised the double-headed sword and swung it forward with all her might.

At this point, she and the corpse amorphophallus were no less than ten meters apart.

Under normal circumstances, they couldn't touch each other.

However, the moment he swung the sword—

The blade suddenly shone brightly, unleashing a burst of sword energy!

Level 2 Martial Skill—Sword Flash!

Swish!!

Arcadia's sword energy resembled a silver crescent.

It detached from the blade and whistled across the air, slashing towards the corpse-scented amorphophallus.

This strike, infused with the power of "Supreme Slash," delivered additional radiant damage, even more powerful than "Sword Flash" itself!

Crack!

The sword energy flashed past.

The sturdy, animated corpse-scented amorphophallus was severed in half!

"Huh... It's finally over."

Seeing the strange flower slain, Arcadia breathed a sigh of relief.

As soon as her nerves relaxed, she felt a surge of exhaustion.

Leaning against the tree trunk, she slowly sat down and fell into unconsciousness.

The angel's armor automatically disarmed after she lost consciousness.

The silver angel of revenge transformed back into a schoolgirl. Just then, soft footsteps echoed through the forest.

A black panther leaped from the brush and stalked quickly to the girl's side. It lowered its head, sniffing her scent. Confirming she was still alive, its emerald eyes revealed a look of relief.

The black panther rose to its feet, standing upright like a human.

In a flash, it transformed into a human with a leopard's head. His naked body was tall and muscular, without a trace of excess fat.

His sleek black fur revealed his toned muscles.

The black panther looked around at the people who had fainted in the forest, a look of worry on his face.

He wasn't skilled at detoxification.

What was he supposed to do? "Leave it to me."

Alan finally found the right opportunity to suppress the ancestral spirit's self-will and take control of this body.

From a bystander, he became the true protagonist of this ancestral spirit's memory.

The young Black Panther, Tazan Morgan.

He cooperated well with his leadership, his self-will quietly receding into the background.

Alan stretched his arms and legs, pleased with his Black Panther form.

He looked down at his crotch...

He looked so sloppy, a bit indecent.

He glanced around and walked over to the nearest male expedition member.

He simply pulled off his pants and put them on.

They were a little too thin, but they were wearable.

Alan tore a hole in the back of his pants and pulled out his tail.

This felt much more comfortable.

He walked over to Arcadia, wagging his tail.

A one-inch bone spur popped out from the palm of his left hand, piercing the girl's skin and sucking out the toxins.

He repeated the same process with the other unconscious people.

Arcadia, worthy of being a descendant of angels, was stronger than an average person.

She was the last to faint from the poison, the first to regain consciousness.

Opening his eyes, he saw the Black Panther boy, his face immediately filled with surprise.

"Wow! Mr. Tai, Tai, Taishan! Is that really you?"

"Nice to meet you! Can you give me an autograph?"

Alan wagged his tail, grumbling inwardly.

This golden cat, with its beautiful face, didn't seem particularly bright.

She escaped death without crying or making a fuss, and even stood there gazing foolishly. What a heart!

Alan lifted Arcadia up, hoisted her over his shoulder, and turned to walk away.

Arcadia was startled, but quickly calmed down.

She struggled to roll over on his shoulder, adjusting from a prone position to a sitting position.

She wrapped her right arm around his neck, securing herself to the Black Panther's broad, strong shoulders.

"Hey! Mr. Tarzan, you haven't answered my question yet!"

The noble girl sat on the shoulders of the panther-headed monster, dangling her tiny feet and chattering incessantly.

"You don't understand my language, do you?"

"I've learned a few words in the Wakandan dialect..."

"Let me think, how do you say 'hello'..."

"Don't bother, I understand you," Allen said grumpily.

"That's great! Thank you, ancestors, for removing the communication barrier between us!"

The girl beamed with joy.

"Mr. Tarzan, your accent is spot on. Where did you learn the common language?"

"I don't need anyone to teach me. I already know it." Alan put his arm around her calf and quickened his pace. "Besides, my name isn't Tarzan."

"Then who are you...?"

"My name is Tarzan," Alan explained casually. "The natives didn't pronounce it clearly, so they mispronounced it Tarzan, but that's okay."

"So that's how it is!" Arcadia said, a look of realization on her face. "I heard the natives say it's Tarzan from you."
