Chapter 38 - Empress of the Seas (Boa Hancock’s POV)

The golden light faded, and with it, Long Chen.

Boa Hancock stood alone in the clearing, the fragrance of blossoms heavy in the humid air. Her warriors dared not return yet, sensing something sacred had passed.

Her violet eyes lingered on the empty space where he had been. Slowly, she raised her hand — fingers trembling faintly — remembering the heat of his touch in that last instant.

"Long Chen…" she whispered, lips curving into a smile that was neither arrogant nor cruel, but soft, almost shy.

The Pirate Empress Shaken

For years, Boa Hancock had carried her arrogance like armor. To her people, she was flawless, untouchable. To the seas, she was the Pirate Empress, one of the Seven Warlords feared by all.

Men were worthless. All bowed before her beauty, crumbled before her charm. None had ever stood as her equal.

Until him.

A man who had not trembled, who had not fallen, who had not worshiped her beauty. A man who met her gaze calmly, defied her power, and declared he would conquer her.

She touched her lips, her heart racing in a way battles never stirred.

Why… why does he linger in my thoughts?

The Amazon Lily Court

Later, on her throne in the ornate palace of Amazon Lily, her sisters — Sandersonia and Marigold — watched her with wide eyes.

"Elder Sister… you seem distracted," Sandersonia said carefully.

"Yes," Marigold added, frowning. "The warriors said a man appeared, yet vanished before their eyes. They said you spared him."

Boa Hancock's gaze drifted, her expression unreadable. For once, she did not snap or punish their impertinence. Instead, her lips curved faintly.

"He was no ordinary man. He was… my dragon."

The sisters exchanged stunned looks. Their elder sister, who scorned every man alive, spoke with something close to… reverence?

Foreshadowing the War

Days later, as news swept across the Grand Line, Boa Hancock stood upon the balcony of her palace, eyes scanning the horizon. War drums echoed across the seas. The Marines summoned her to the greatest battle of the age: the execution of Portgas D. Ace at Marineford.

Her people begged her not to go. Her sisters pleaded with her to stay.

But Boa Hancock's violet eyes were cold and calm. "If I must go, I will go. Amazon Lily will endure."

Yet, deep inside, her heart whispered another truth.

If I face danger… will he return? Will Long Chen appear again, as he promised, to conquer the heavens — and me?

For the first time, Boa Hancock — the woman who bent all to her will — found herself waiting. Hoping.

Back in Azure Cloud Sect

At that same moment, Long Chen sat cross-legged on Azure Spirit Peak, his eyes closed, golden aura swirling. But faintly, he felt it — a silver thread tugging across worlds, tying him to Boa Hancock's heart.

The System chimed softly.

Long Chen's lips curved faintly. "Wait for me, Empress. When the sea itself turns against you, I will come."

The dragon within him roared in agreement.
