Chapter 6 - Rewards and Impact

Apologies about the lack of an update yesterday, but uploads from Wednesday-Friday will be rather sporadic. If I could make a living off of writing, then I would.

Enjoy!

As Shigaraki guided the ship towards the parting of the mist, he went below deck once again to check out a few rooms on the left side. One had his name: AllMightH8r, while the other plaque was blank.

He went inside and saw a bed, a Cosmetic chest, a Weapon Cache on the wall, a desk with a candle, ink and quill, a journal, and a small box. Naturally, he wanted to know what was inside the strange box, so he opened it.

There was a Devil Fruit, a note, and some kind of glowing black stone.

Picking up the note, he began to read.

Inside contains the Decay-Decay Fruit and a cosmetic pack. Crush the stone to receive your rewards.

On the back will give a brief description of the fruit's abilities. If you are streaming or recording, this will be blurred for your discretion.

Thank you for being a Playtester!

Singularity Games

His eyes went wide at the sheer coincidence of the fruit's abilities being the same as his quirk, but his instincts told him that it was likely not a coincidence.

'I really gotta tell Sensei about this.' Feeling a bit unnerved, he turned the note over.

This ability allows you to decay all organic and inorganic things through your hands or feet. This requires conscious activation. Just like normal, if you die, you lose this Devil Fruit.

Paramecia Type: Decay-Decay Fruit

Shigaraki was pleasantly surprised and pleased that this ability won't always be on like his quirk is.

"I wanna see!"

"Don't be stingy!"

"Tell us!"

The chat was naturally annoyed; they couldn't see what it said and wanted answers.

He wasn't going to tell them, of course, but it'd be pretty obvious once he used it. The warning was also clear. Dying isn't an option, even if it's a game, since he'd lose this power.

While having an Ice Logia or other elemental powers would be cool, he was most familiar with this type of ability and should find it easy for him to use and acclimate to.

First, he grabbed the glowing stone and crushed it as he saw a few items in his peripheral vision flash by him.

Going over to the Cosmetic Chest, a menu appeared before him with some new items.

A White long-sleeved shirt with a graphic of "PT" by the heart.

A Black captain's coat with a red trim with golden buttons.

Midnight black pants with a gold button that were a little loose at the bottom.

Bright red leather boots with a black and gold buckle.

He swapped his clothes, and they automatically appeared on his body. There was a mirror opposite his bed, so he went to check his fit, and he wasn't displeased.

"Damn."

"We see the fit, bro."

"I want to be a Play Tester!'

The chat was also struck by the outfit as well.

Going to the Weapon Cache, he also saw that he got a sword and flintlock skin.

The Cutlass had a golden handguard with intricate patterns, a black leather handle with the blade being pure white, and a glistening edge. The pommel was also gold with "PT" etched into it.

The Flintlock was a similar color scheme with a black barrel and gold at the end, with the same intricate patterns. The handle and hammer are white. "PT" was etched into the side of the barrel.

Equipping both, he looked down and pulled out his sword, seeing the new skin. It was pretty glorious. He did the same with the flintlock and liked both of them.

He went back to the Devil Fruit and bit into it.

It was awful. The most foul thing he ever tasted didn't even come close to this. He had an urge to spit it out, but he didn't.

"Is it that bad?"

"Must be awful."

"Is this the price for eating one?"

The chat also made fun of him for his reaction, but Shigaraki didn't pay them any mind as he suddenly felt some kind of power within him that he didn't previously have. He directed this power to his hand, and immediately the note began to disintegrate until it was ash.

"DAMN!"

"So this is the power of a Devil Fruit?!"

"I need to get one once I get a Singularity Dive!"

"So sick!"

"It really is like a quirk!"

The chat exploded in excitement at the display of power.

Shigaraki was also content, as it was very similar to his own quirk, except that he needed to activate it. He, of course, didn't try using it with his feet since he didn't want to destroy his ship.

Heading back to the deck, he adjusted the course as it veered slightly, and it was quite the oppressive atmosphere.

There were many remains of ships that were broken in the water, along with the red mist made it pretty creepy. He just kept following the light.

"This looks sick!"

"I already signed up! I want to play!"

"Follow the lights!"

The chat kept going as Shigaraki sailed through the waters.

Suddenly, the area turned to a dark red, and a growl in the water was heard.

Shigaraki was on edge, and he was stunned to see a giant shark emerging and diving into the water. It was purple with sharp spikes along its back.

"The hell is that!'

"Run!"

"Keep going!"

"Shoot it!"

The chat was on fire, trying to direct him, but Shigaraki stayed calm as his focus was on the cannons.

Emerging from the water, the shark had green eyes and many rows of teeth, seemingly about to bite into the ship until it dived back into the water.

Shigaraki immediately went down onto the deck from the helm, noticing a few barrels that were red and what seemed to be an image of cannon balls. A menu showed up, and he grabbed some cannonballs into his Equipment Radial and put one into the left cannon. He noticed a fuse appeared, which meant he had to light it to fire. In his Equipment Radial, he did notice a lighter, so that's what it must be for.

Unlike in the game, where you can just load it up and shoot so long as you have cannonballs, here you actually had to light it to fire, but he didn't make it too realistic, as a fuse will automatically appear once a cannonball is loaded inside, but now you had to make sure you had lighter fluid.

He got used to moving the cannon left to right and up and down before heading back up to the wheel.

After sailing a bit more, a busted-up ship emerged from the water and immediately started shooting cannonballs at him.

"Get them!"

"Use the cannons!"

"Ship battle!"

The chat tried backseat gaming and urged him to do certain things, but Shigaraki was already on his left cannon and pulled out the lighter from his Equipment Radial. He lit the fuse as he aimed towards the ship, but…

The cannonball went sailing over the entire ship behind them.

"LMAO!"

"Nice shot, man! You showed the water who's boss!"

"Helen Keller had better aim than this."

"So we're in copper."

The chat was flaming him, but realistically, who has ever used a cannon before? Shigaraki was frustrated, but he loaded another cannonball, lit the fuse, and adjusted his aim downward and a bit forward to try and hit the middle of the ship.

BOOM!

His shot was a little low, but it still hit!

Feeling emboldened by the success, he loaded it again and fired.

BOOM!

Another direct hit, and Shigaraki loaded another.

BOOM!

The sound of wood breaking could be heard across the sea, but the enemy ship sailed forward.

"Hell yeah!"

"Shoot another!"

"After them!"

"The goat is back!"

The chat was naturally enthusiastic about the naval battle and wanted more.

Shigaraki went back to the helm to try and angle himself to fire again, but was surprised as multiple tentacles suddenly shot out from the sea surrounding the enemy ship.

"What is that?!"

"Get away from the tentacles!"

"What kind of monster is that?!"

"What's my search history doing here?!"

Tentacles wrapped around the ship, tugging the ship down into the water, and both the ship and the monster disappeared.

As the skies cleared, Shigaraki steered the ship forward.

Suddenly, his vision showed he unlocked a commendation: The Adventure Begins…

He lost control of his body and completely separated as his vision zoomed out from the ship and toward the sea.

A title card appeared.

Sea of Thieves

Next, a graphic of an atom swirling with a myriad of colors, along with a name:

Singularity Games

The little cutscene ended, and Shigaraki was back on the port where he started.

He realized that if he wanted to truly succeed and get strong as fast as possible, then he was going to need friends to play with. The problem was…he didn't have any friends, and he certainly wasn't going to join up with randos.

Perhaps if he had Kurogiri or even Sensei join, then that would be the perfect solution, but the problem was that he didn't have more Dives.

As if the universe wanted to prove him wrong, he got a notification that there was a Singularity Shipping delivery made at his house.

The Dive made sure that the user would be alerted if their surroundings changed, like people, a knock at the door, etc. This was a safety feature.

He told the stream he was going to take a quick break and powered off the device.

Shortly before Shigaraki took a break, Megumi was watching the stream and had the same realization that the young villain had.

In his Statistics page, there was a line about Shigaraki's address and promptly shipped three more Singularity Dives to hopefully reel in some big characters like All For One, Kurogiri, and Dr. Garaki. If it didn't happen, oh well, but the possibility was there.

He also got his first hit of coins.

[Tomura Shigaraki(Tenko Shimura)] played for 1 hour: 1,000 Gamer Coins added to your balance!]

This made him feel very good about the future and why he felt no hesitation in giving up over 1,500 USD of value for a potential gain of more coins.

He'd need quite a bit because after everything, his current storage is about 100 Terabytes. Sea of Thieves took 850 Terabytes to make, which was insane, but it was worth it. The remaining 50 Terabytes was for the website and distribution platform to be able to handle insane loads and to prevent Ddosing attacks, so the servers would be able to handle billions of users with no issue which he found to be a worthy tradeoff.

Now, in terms of storage, he was quite broke. All the new content, such as Haki, Devil Fruits, advanced lifelike AI, expanded map, hubs, and new seas for advanced players, along with massive servers to ensure zero lag, took its toll. Even if all of Earth's population were to be on the game 24/7, there would be no issues, and that is essential for players to stay on.

With a little over 1,000 points, he decides to look through the shop for some items.

[Storage(10GB)

Cost: 1 Gamer Coin

[Singularity Dive]

Cost: 1 Gamer Coin

[Sensory Dampener]

Cost: 5,000 Gamer Coins

[Dream-link Interface]

Description: Allows players to game while they are asleep. This does not impact or negatively affect sleep.

Cost: 50,000 Gamer Coins

There was a lot of good stuff, especially the Dream-link Interface for more coin generation.

As Megumi looked through the shop, word spread fast about his company and products. Some would even call it heaven-defying or a gigantic scientific breakthrough on a level no one has ever seen before.

His HeroTube trailer went viral, and many people in Shigaraki's chat spread the existence of Singularity Games and Sea of Thieves, reaching all corners of the world at record pace.

How could it not? The technology was simply out of this world.

The whole world was in a scramble to know who created it and how to get their hands on it to either find out its secrets or to play and experience the wonders of Deep Dive tech themselves.

This was especially prevalent since a clip went viral from Shigaraki's stream that your real body and quirk would get stronger.

Watanabe Megumi has introduced a catalyst that would change this world.

For the better? Or for the worse?

A purple portal appeared in front of a man taller than even All Might.

"What is it, Kurogiri?" The man asked, but he already knew what the teleporter was going to say.

"Master, it's about Tomura…"
