"Grant, be careful!"
Just before the gunshot, Daisy's cry suddenly echoed in his ear.
How did she get here?
Grant was startled and turned around abruptly.
Daisy had somehow come back, and in the split second that the turkey fired, she grabbed his wrist and the bullet missed, hitting a tree trunk instead.
"You damn fool, you're asking for death!"
Angered by the interference of a woman who wasn't afraid to die, the turkey struggled to break free from Daisy's grip and aimed his gun at her.
The bullet grazed Daisy's thigh, splattering blood everywhere.
"Daisy!"
Grant was beside himself with rage.
This shot hurt him more than if it had hit him.
"Damn it, you're all asking for death!"
At the same time, the turkey raised his gun again, intending to shoot Grant first.
But the momentary pause had given Grant a chance to strike!
With a flick of his arm, blood spurted like a fountain.
