When I opened my eyes, everything hurt.
It wasn't just the physical pain from the stinger that had pierced my chest—that had healed completely, without leaving even a scar. It was something much deeper. As if every cell in my body was rewriting itself, as if it was remembering how to be myself after years of pretending to be someone else.
I sat up slowly in the infirmary bed, and immediately felt all eyes fixed on me. Adrian was in a corner, arms crossed with that expression he made when trying to solve a complex problem. Cali was by the window, nervously biting her nails. Sara had stayed near the door, as if she were ready to flee at any moment.
And my parents... well no, Marcus and Helena Rasis were standing at the foot of the bed with that disapproving expression I knew so well.
"Alexander," Helena said, her voice tense. "We need to talk."
I ran a hand through my hair—which was now golden and silky instead of the rough black I'd had all my life—and looked at them. There were so many things I wanted to tell them, so many truths I could finally express, but the words refused to come out.
"How do you feel?" Adrian asked, and I could hear genuine concern in his voice. After everything that had happened, he still worried about me. It was typical of Adrian, but I couldn't even think something good about that—not after everything that happened.
"Very well," I replied, and my voice sounded strange even to me. Softer, more melodic, as if it had been tuned by a divine force. "I feel... like myself, for the first time in years."
"Alexander," Marcus cleared his throat, "about what happened on the mission—"
"What about it?" I interrupted, looking directly into his eyes. He no longer intimidated me like before. I was no longer afraid of his disapproval.
"Your... abilities," he continued, clearly uncomfortable. "And your transformation. We need to understand what's happening to you. The physical changes, the power you showed, and..." he hesitated, "the omega pheromones you've been emanating."
Ah. There it was. The truth I had been hiding for years.
"Oh yes, I am one," I said as if it hadn't been a secret I tried to hide for years with care.
"Omega?" Sara straightened up, her eyes widening with shock. "Alexander, are you an omega?"
Cali turned from the window, mouth agape. "How is that possible? For how long...?"
"Since I was fifteen," I said simply, without taking my gaze off Marcus. "I've been taking suppressors for six years."
The silence that followed was deafening.
"Why didn't you tell us?" Helena asked, and there was something that sounded almost like pain in her voice. "Didn't you trust us?"
I laughed, but there was no humor in the sound. "Trust you? The same parents who just believed a stranger instead of me? The same ones who looked at me as if I were a criminal for loving someone?"
"Alexander, that's different—" Marcus began.
"No," I cut him off. "It's not different. The moment I needed you most, you abandoned me. The moment I most needed you to trust me, you chose to believe Catharina, a woman who had been lying to us from before."
I got up from the bed, feeling how my new nature settled into my body like a second skin. It was strange—I felt lighter, more graceful, but at the same time more powerful than I had ever been.
"And now that you know I'm omega, what are you going to do? Send me back to Ra-Ma-Tec to marry the first alpha willing to accept damaged goods?"
"You're not damaged goods!" Cali exploded, finally finding her voice. "You're my brother!"
"Really?" I turned to her, feeling how tears I hadn't expected began to form in my eyes. "Because when I needed my sister to defend me, when I needed someone from my family to believe me, you weren't there."
Cali fell silent, and I could see tears running down her cheeks.
"Alexander," Adrian said, taking a step toward me, "we know we made mistakes. But we can fix it. We can—"
"Fix it?" I laughed bitterly. "How are you going to fix years of feeling invisible? How are you going to fix the fact that the first time someone accused me of something terrible, you immediately assumed I was guilty?"
I moved away from all of them, walking toward a corner of the room where the shadows were deeper. I needed space to think, to process everything happening in my head.
The memories of my previous life kept flowing like a constant current. Voren, my father, teaching me to fight but also to be compassionate. Kael, my uncle, showing me it was okay to laugh even in the darkest moments. And Lucifer... Lucifer, who had loved me unconditionally from the moment I was born.
"You're here," I whispered toward the shadows, feeling their presence like a familiar warmth. "I can feel you."
"Of course we're here," came a soft and melodic voice, charged with a love so pure it made my heart skip a beat. "We never left you, my beautiful child."
The shadows dissipated like smoke, and suddenly I could see them.
Lucifer was standing directly in front of me, exactly as I remembered from my memories. Dark hair that shone with blue highlights under the light, enormous white wings elegantly folded against his back, and those eyes that changed color according to his emotions—now a deep blue full of unshed tears.
Beside him were Voren and Kael, the blonde twins who had been my family in another life and in this one. Voren, with his perfect posture and that controlled intensity that radiated power, and Kael, more relaxed but with golden eyes that shone with protective warmth.
"Alexander?" I heard Sara's voice behind me, full of confusion. "Who are you talking to?"
But I couldn't take my eyes off Lucifer. Tears began to fall down my cheeks without me being able to stop them.
"Mom," I whispered, and it was as if a dam had broken inside me.
I threw myself toward him, wrapping my arms around his waist and burying my face in his chest. He smelled exactly as I remembered—like fresh rain and something I could only describe as home. That's when the veil completely fell, revealing the 3 people.
"MOM?" Sara screamed, and I could hear the shock in her voice. "Alexander, what's happening?"
But I was too busy crying in Lucifer's arms to respond. I felt his arms wrap around me, his wings extending slightly to create a protective barrier around us.
"I'm here, my love," he whispered to me, his voice breaking with emotion. "I'm here. You'll never have to be alone again."
After what seemed like an eternity, I separated enough to look at Voren, who was standing a few steps away with that controlled expression I knew so well.
"Dad," I said, extending a hand toward him.
Voren approached immediately, and when I hugged him, it was as if all the broken pieces of my soul had finally come together. He was taller than Lucifer, more solid, and when he hugged me I felt that sensation of absolute security I had been searching for all my life.
"Alexander," I heard Helena's voice behind me, tense and confused, "your parents are here. We are your family."
I turned slowly, without completely letting go of Voren, and looked at her. They were all looking at me as if I had gone crazy. Adrian had that expression he made when trying to solve a problem that had no logical solution. Cali looked completely lost. Sara was looking at me as if I were a stranger.
"These are my true parents, and you... you were never really my family. You were just the people who raised me in this reincarnation."
"Reincarnation?" Marcus stepped forward, his voice full of disbelief. "Alexander, what are you saying?"
That's when Set and Sekhmet manifested.
They didn't appear physically like Lucifer, Voren, and Kael. Instead, I felt their presence filling the room like a wave of primitive power. Their voices resonated in my mind, and somehow I knew everyone else could hear them too.
"The child has remembered," said Set's deep and resonant voice. "He has remembered who he really is, and why we have waited millennia to protect him."
"We are Set and Sekhmet," added Sekhmet's fierce and musical voice. "The gods the Egyptians declared dead. We simply chose to wait for him."
I could see the exact moment when everyone in the room realized what was happening. Sara turned pale as death. Adrian became completely still. Cali staggered as if someone had hit her.
And my adoptive parents... Marcus and Helena looked at me with a mixture of shock, fear, and something that seemed dangerously close to disgust.
"Set and Sekhmet," Sara murmured, her voice barely a whisper. "The chaos gods. The forbidden gods."
"Not forbidden," I corrected, my voice resonating with a power I hadn't had before. "Simply misunderstood. They helped me remember everything. My previous life, my true family, why I died and how I returned."
I turned to Lucifer and Voren. "I want to go with you," I said without hesitation. "I want to go home."
Lucifer smiled, and it was as if the sun had come out after years of storm. "Of course, my beautiful child. We've been waiting so long to take you home."
Voren nodded, his expression softening. "Your room is exactly as you wanted it," he told me. "Kael made sure of that."
Kael laughed, and the sound filled the room with a warmth that made everyone else seem cold in comparison. "I had to threaten some lesser demons not to touch your things, but it was worth it."
That's when Marcus exploded.
"NO!" he shouted, his voice echoing throughout the infirmary. "You're not going anywhere! You're our son, and you're going back to Ra-Ma-Tec immediately!"
I froze. After everything that had happened, after clearly telling him I no longer considered them my family, did he really think he could give me orders?
"Alexander," Marcus continued, his voice trembling with fury, "an omega cannot make this type of decision by himself. Especially an omega who is clearly being influenced by chaos gods. We're going back to the main city, and we're going to fix this... problem."
"Problem?" I repeated, feeling how something hot and furious began to boil in my chest.
"Yes," Helena said, approaching Marcus. "This is clearly some type of supernatural influence. We're going to get you help, and then we're going to find you an appropriate alpha to marry. Someone who can control you."
"Control me," I spat the word back as if it were poison.
"Alexander," Marcus took a step toward me, "you're our son. We have rights over you, and responsibility for you. You can't just leave with... with demons and forbidden gods."
Something broke inside me.
"You are not my family," I said, my voice so cold I could see how everyone shuddered. "And you have no rights over me. Never again."
Lucifer tensed beside me, and I could feel how his power began to filter through the air like static electricity. Voren stepped forward, positioning himself slightly in front of us, and his golden eyes darkened until they became almost black.
"No one," Voren said, his voice so controlled it was terrifying, "is going to tell my son what he can or cannot do except my husband and I."
Marcus laughed, but there was no humor in the sound. "Your son? He's our son, and we're not going to allow him to leave with demonic creatures."
It was Kael who responded, his smile didn't disappear but became completely twisted.
"I think," he said, his voice as dangerous as Voren's but in a completely different way, "you don't understand what's happening here."
Marcus raised his hand, and I could see runes beginning to glow on his fingers. Binding runes. Runes designed to control omegas who "misbehave."
"Alexander," he said, his voice now full of authority, "come here. Now."
But the runes never had a chance to work.
Voren moved so fast he was barely a golden blur, and suddenly Marcus was flying backward against the wall. Helena screamed and tried to help him, but Kael stopped her with a single look.
"No," Kael said, his voice resonating with a power that made the entire room tremble, "I don't think you should do that."
Sara tried to use her magic, invoking Isis's power to create some kind of protective barrier, but when her golden light met the power radiating from Voren and Kael, it simply vanished like smoke.
"How...?" Sara murmured, looking at her hands in shock. "My magic doesn't work."
"Because," Lucifer explained gently, though his eyes shone with something dangerous, "you're trying to use Egyptian divine magic against angels and demons who are much, much older than your pantheon."
Adrian stepped forward, clearly trying to act as mediator. "Look, we all need to calm down. Alexander, I know you're confused—"
"I'm not confused," I interrupted him. "For the first time in years, I'm completely clear about who I am and what I want."
But even as I spoke, I could feel how my body began to tremble. The power I had been using, the emotional intensity of seeing my true family again, everything was beginning to take its toll.
And then, as if it had been waiting for the perfect moment, my new nature decided to manifest completely.
I felt the change beginning in my back, as if something was pushing outward from my shoulder blades. It didn't hurt—instead, it felt like pure liberation.
Everyone in the room became completely still when wings began to emerge from my back.
They were beautiful—golden like my hair, with feathers that shone as if they were made of liquid light. They spread completely, spanning almost the entire room, and when they moved, they created small air currents that smelled of divine power.
"Angel," Sara whispered, her voice full of awe and terror. "He's an angel."
But then Marcus shouted something about using containment runes, and Helena began invoking binding magic. Adrian and the others took defensive positions, clearly preparing for some kind of confrontation.
Voren and Kael tensed, and I could feel how both their power began to fill the room. The air itself began to vibrate with an energy that made everything tremble.
"No," I murmured, still embraced by Lucifer. "They're going to destroy the whole place."
I could feel Voren's fury, his protective instinct activating to a dangerous point. Kael wasn't any better—his laughter had completely disappeared, replaced by something lethal and primitive.
If I didn't do something soon, they were going to reduce the entire fortress to rubble.
That's when the wings moved and with them my body.
One moment I was embracing Lucifer and the next, the enormous golden wings had deployed from my shoulder blades. They extended beyond what should have been physically possible in the limited space of the infirmary, and when they moved, it was with purpose.
The wings wrapped around Lucifer, Voren, and Kael like a protective cocoon, and immediately I felt how their fury began to diminish. It was as if my wings were channeling some type of calming power, something that reached directly to the most primitive parts of their brains and reminded them that I was safe.
"Shh," I whispered, though I wasn't sure if I was talking to them or to myself. "I'm fine. You don't need to hurt anyone."
But the effort of manifesting the wings and channeling so much power was too much for my newly awakened body. The world began to spin around me, and I felt how my legs weakened.
"Alexander," I heard Voren's voice, full of concern.
My wings folded automatically as I fell, and the last thing I remember was feeling Voren's arms around me, holding me against his chest.
Alexander was unconscious. Kael and his brother had approached to catch him. He had extended his hands and was opening some kind of portal that glowed with golden light. Lucifer had stood up, and his wings were completely extended, creating an intimidating barrier between them and the rest of the room.
"Never," I heard Lucifer's voice, cold as hell's ice, "will I forgive you for hurting my son."
His eyes fixed specifically on Kaius, who had remained paralyzed in a corner.
"And you, boy," Lucifer continued, his voice charged with a power that made the entire room tremble, "will know that no one messes with Lucifer's son."
After that, they left, leaving behind a place practically cracked in more than one sense. It took a few hours for Alexander to wake up.
I was in a room I didn't recognize but that felt like home. The walls were polished black stone, and there were golden tapestries hanging that showed scenes of battles and celebrations. The furniture was elegant but comfortable, and there was a fire burning in an ornamental fireplace that filled the room with golden light.
"How do you feel?" asked a familiar voice.
I turned and saw Lucifer sitting in a chair next to my bed, still with his wings slightly extended. He looked worried but relieved.
"Good," I said, and it was true. I felt as if I had been carrying an enormous weight for years and had finally freed myself from it. "Where are we?"
"At home," he said simply. "In Hell, specifically in my palace. Voren thought it would be better to bring you here so you could recover in peace."
I sat up in bed, feeling how my body moved with a grace I had never had before. "What happened after I fainted?"
Lucifer's expression darkened slightly. "Voren had some words with your... ex-adoptive family. Let's say it was made very clear that they no longer have any rights over you."
"Is he okay? Did he hurt anyone?"
Lucifer smiled, and there was something both proud and affectionate in his expression. "My son always worries about others, even those who have hurt him. No, my love, Voren controlled himself. Although," his smile became slightly colder, "he did make sure they understood that if they ever try to contact you or claim you again, the consequences would be... significant."
I nodded, feeling a mixture of relief and sadness. Relief that I was finally free, sadness that it had ended this way.
"What will happen with my—I mean with Cali and Adrian?"
"Can I see them sometime?"
Lucifer reached out and took my hand. "If you want, when you're ready, you can see whoever you want. But Alexander, my beautiful child, you need to understand something important."
He looked directly into my eyes, and I saw centuries of wisdom and love in his gaze.
"You're no longer the Alexander they knew. You are my son, a prince in more than one sense. And that person deserves to be surrounded by people who love him unconditionally, not by people who love him only when he behaves the way they want."
Tears began to form in my eyes again, but this time they weren't from sadness.
"Am I really home?" I asked.
Lucifer smiled, and it was as if all the stars in the sky had decided to shine at the same time.
"Welcome home, Alexander. Your family has been waiting for you."
