Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 – The Deal (That’s Not True, I Think)

‎Chapter 9 - The deal (that's not true, I think)

‎My father was the second twin, Zerath. His older brother , Merath, was to rule the Kaururse Castle when he was of age.

My father, Zerath, wanted the throne at all cost, he wanted all the power to himself, he thought there was a way to get the power of the castle and all the power attached to rulling the kingdom and of course, there was a way. First, he married my mother, Selvara Dreyne, a healer, that could knit a wound shut with a mere snap and could smuggle life from the dead. Zerath forced her to make him immortal, she did, she swore an oath to remain loyal to him till death, that was the first step.

‎The next step was us, the children. My mother bore powerful children, Phynyx, Sapphire, Blinx and labyrinth, I'm not part of the powerful children since I don't have any powers.

But Zerath wasn't satisfied. He wanted more power!

‎He went to Jinx.

The greatest Necromancer that has ever walked the surface of the earth, he made a deal with him to sacrifice me to Jinx as a baby, in order to have the power to manipulate people's control over their soul.

‎On the day I was born, my mother asked her court maid to hide me for three days, her court maid was a seer, she had foreseen the sacrifice and advice my mother to hide me for at least a month, but my mother didn't think it was nice to do that, she thought it would severe her oath and serve as a threat to her husband's love and loyalty to her even though she was blinded.

‎Jinx went berserk on my father when he heard I wasn't found, he couldn't control my father's soul or kill him since he's immortal, but he threatened my father, he told him that if he didn't keep his end of the bargain, he would strip him off all of his possessions until he becomes the powerless, forgotten and disposed second twin he always feared becoming.

‎Since I'm a girl child, my father saw me as a liability. He thought that I'd only be a burden to the family, after I was brought out from hiding for three days, my father took me to Jinx.

‎The ritual begin, I was placed over a pile of woods, burning with supernatural flame that flickered with undying pressure, the heat pushed my father away, he covered his eyes and peeped over his armour to see the progress.

The moon illuminated the earth painted the world silver like a spotlight on me, the flame surged, burning seemlessly from under and around me, but I was unscathed. The fire had no effect on baby me lying on the burning wood. Soon after, the fire tripped off, like turning off a gas cooker, my father's rage built up to his core.

‎Jinx told my father that I would not be like the sages he had produced, he told his that I would become an outcast except he forces my awakening.

‎He told my father that if I turned 17 years old and I didn't awake any powers so that I can be sacrificed as agreed, then he would take the one that was most precious to my father - his wife - my mother!.

‎"He's only trying to save your mother, the extreme acts he'd been putting on you is all for the love he has for her" he said in a convincing tone, hugging him self as if he was explaining love to a 4 year old child.

‎"but-"

‎"No buts, Azhurla. " he said shutting me up with a glare that pierced through my soul. I knew there was something sketchy about him not wanting me to ask anymore questions, I already agreed to give a kiss for every question, him not wanting me to ask another means there's something he doesn't want to reveal.

‎"My father doesn't love my mum. He's only using her, what you said doesn't sound right" I said as I brushed his finger from in top my lips, my gaze dropped as I stared at my trembling fingers.

‎"I know he doesn't love her, I know that because-"

‎"He loves her!!" he screamed "Now stop thinking too much and go back!! Labyrinth is looking for you" He added rolling his eyes as if jealous and annoyed at me and labyrinth.

‎The air around us thickened, I was angry, he knew, he felt it like a fury piecing his very core

‎"That is not the truth" I screamed. The flames flickered, like they were threatening to go off

‎"Now, now, hold your horse Azhurla, I told you that you'd get hurt, I didn't even say the entire truth and you're already harassing me. I don't like mean girls" he said as his smile turned upside down, he looked down at me in disappointment and disgust, it burnt through my flesh. I melted, crippled by his words

‎"I don't have any more answers for you today, leave" he said as he waved his hand above his face and a glowing spiral appeared, a portal that led to the entrance of the school where labyrinth was asking around for me from other students.

‎Tears escaped my eyes, I turned to talk to him but he already turned his back at me, his marvelous physique detested me and rejected my very presence

‎"You didn't tell me the entire truth, you have to tell me the truth-"

‎"Aizen, that's my name" he scoffed and started walking away

‎"Aizen please, answer me, I'll do anything, why don't I have any powers? Please!!" I dropped to my knees, tears ran down my cheeks like race tracks

‎"Aizen please, tell me what to do-"

‎"GET OUT!!" he yelled, then a sigh.

‎"Aizen -"

‎"I don't have any answers for you today!!" he yelled without looking back, his voice traveled down the path and back, the sound wave vibrated through my bones, I shivered, I cried harder, silent though, anxiety pulled my breathe away.

He turned finally, a light of hope, of answers shone around, I knelt there, waiting for him to give me one more answer, instead, he raised me up, pulling me by my hair, I screamed but he didn't let go, he flung my through the portal .

‎I landed like a pile of cow dung on the floor. The students around alerted Labyrinth that I was on the floor there. My vision was blurred by the tears that gushed out of my eyes, my ear was already filled with sorrowful liquid, my childhood, what was It that I didn't know? What was it that made me this different from every other person?

‎"Azhurla, what's wrong? Talk to me" Labyrinth said raising me up to sit, he placed his hand on my back to support me as I sat like a lifeless body.

I tried to tell him the thing that had been growing like rot inside the castle: that Zerath had bartered me, that Jinx had made demands, that the ritual had failed to change me but the agreement still held like debt. I tried to say it simply and it all folded into words that sounded like a child's nightmare

‎"My entire existence is fruitless" I whispered, my sight blurred into nothingness, it was dark, silent, like I had transcended into another life but it wasn't that, I had passed out, out of fear, anxiety and hopelessness.
