Having achieved his purpose, Lucian's lips curled up softly. "It's all for your good," he muttered as Emily practically snatched the phone from him.
If she had the chance, she would have hurled the new phone back at him, daring him to do his worst.
But the thought of losing her salary or worse, her bonus was enough to keep her in check. So she swallowed her irritation, deciding to bear with it… grudgingly.
Lucian turned the ignition. The engine purred to life, low and powerful. He exhaled softly as he glanced into the side mirror, his grip on the steering wheel tightening.
"We're heading to the company now," he said, his voice steady. "And by the close of work today, we'll visit your family."
Emily stiffened, her fingers tightening around the hem of her skirt.
